'Friday Night Massacre' at US Postal Service as Postmaster General--a Major Trump Donor--Ousts Top

Officials'

Government watchdogs, Democratic lawmakers, and pro-democracy advocates declared it a "Friday Night Massacre" for the U.S. Postal Service after news broke in a classic end-of-the-week dump that Louis DeJoy—a major GOP donor to President Donald Trump and the recently appointed Postmaster General—had issued a sweeping overhaul of the agency, including the ouster of top executives from key posts and the reshuffling of more than two dozen other officials and operational managers.

Twenty-three postal executives were reassigned or displaced, the new organizational chart shows. Analysts say the structure centralizes power around DeJoy, a former logistics executive and major ally of President Trump, and de-emphasizes decades of institutional postal knowledge. All told, 33 staffers included in the old postal hierarchy either kept their jobs or were reassigned in the restructuring, with five more staffers joining the leadership from other roles.

According to Brian Tyler Cohen, a liberal commentator and podcast host, "Congressional Democrats need to do something about this" immediately.

"If we wait until October/November, it'll be too late," said Cohen. "Trump is actively sabotaging the election under our noses—this isn't theoretical, it's happening RIGHT NOW." Cohen said this situation should be treated like a "fucking five-alarm fire" and said action must be taken by both lawmakers and the U.S. public without delay.

The Supreme Court Hands Trump An Election Boost

A cowardly Supreme Court punted today on two investigations that could reveal Donald Trump and his Trump Organization as major league criminal tax cheats.

In its weaselly 7-2 Trump decisions, both written by Chief Justice John Roberts, the Supreme Court stood yet again for the idea that you can get as much justice as you can afford.

The high court also turned away three House committees seeking Trump tax and business records, again on narrow procedural issues that downplayed the substance of the matter. That ruling came despite a 1924 law that flatly states the Treasury “shall” turn over such records on the written request of one of the three committees’ chairs. That law also grants Trump the same power to look at anyone’s tax returns without requiring him to justify such requests.

The Trump case delays the court order, to allow further procedural hearings. The Supreme Court action is in sharp contrast to the 1974 unanimous Supreme Court decision that President Richard Nixon had to immediately turn over his secret Oval Office tapes to Watergate prosecutors. Nixon resigned days later knowing the tapes would provide irrefutable evidence of his criminal conduct.

Should Trump win a second term via a combination of the Electoral College, voter suppression and unlawful help from Russia and other foreign governments, the case will then become one can of procedural worms after another. That could have been avoided had the high court acted definitively today instead of with an eye to politics.

Chris Matthews Is Just Another Crybully

Chris Matthews likes to fart on TV. I’m not making this up. He’s done it more than once, live, on the air.

Here he is just a couple months ago, really letting one rip, not just loud but tuba-loud. Here he is again a few years ago, holding his tongue for just a beat while he fires one off.

I used to think it was stress relief — blowing off a little steam under those hot MSNBC cameras. But lately, it’s a different kind of gaseous substance emanating from Matthews’s bowels — squeaking out not through his ample rear cushion but through his mouth. And Bernie Sanders seems to be the catalyst of the tummy turmoil.

Biden's rivals in Iowa are starting to release their own caucus results showing him in 'distant 4th

The campaigns of Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and Amy Klobuchar all indicated Tuesday that their internal campaign data show former Vice President Joe Biden finished fourth in Monday night's Iowa caucus.

The Daily Beast reported that Warren's campaign went further and said he finished in a "distant" fourth place, claiming its internal data showed a three-way race between herself, former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, and Sanders.

"It's a mess," Warren campaign manager Roger Lau told reporters, according to Politico. "I think that every single second that passes where we don't get a final result is concerning."

Pelosi ends standoff with Senate Republicans over impeachment articles

Source:

Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Friday she will send the articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump to the Senate next week, ending a heated standoff with Republicans over the terms of the impeachment trial.

"I have asked Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler to be prepared to bring to the Floor next week a resolution to appoint managers and transmit articles of impeachment to the Senate," Pelosi said in a letter to House Democrats.

“About time,” McConnell told reporters Friday after Pelosi’s announcement.

Democrat Tammy Duckworth says Trump ‘is as easy to control as a toddler’ and ‘gets manipulated’ by dictators

Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) delivered a scathing speech on the Senate floor Wednesday, sharply criticizing President Donald Trump’s recent escalating conflict with Iran and his propensity to be manipulated by foreign actors.

“We’ve seen it played out on the streets of Venezuela and the deserts of northeast Syria. We’ve seen him get manipulated by tyrants in Pyongyang and Riyad, subjugated by despots in Moscow and Ankara, as our allies laughed — literally laughed! — at him behind his back,” she continued. “The president of the United States is as easy to control as a toddler. … My diaper-wearing 20-month old daughter has better impulse control than this president.”
