About Me

Nixon was a fucking crook. As a teenager I marched on the UN in 1982 with a million other people demanding we get rid of the threat of nuclear weapons hanging over our heads. Since then I've worked to get Democrats elected like John Aristotle Phillips, known as the A-Bomb Kid when he ran for Congress against Stuart McKinney in CT in the 80's (we lost twice) through the Obama campaign in 2008 and 2012. I want to legalize cannabis, reform our prison for profit system, cut our military budget, get out of Afghanistan and push solar energy panels into every building in the USA.

Fuck your "pro-life" anti-abortion, pro-gun, anti-white privilege arguments.

I'm for abortion being accessible anywhere by any woman anytime they want it.
All of your "pro-life" arguments boil down to one thing and one thing only:
You want to impose your religious mores and values system on the rest of the civilian population regardless of their beliefs.
I respect your right to have your idiosyncratic religious beliefs but don't force them on the rest of us as secular law.

Fuck your arguments against sensible gun control, background checks and regulation.
Some people should not have guns or access to them, period.

Fuck your arguments against the idea that our society has rigged the game against people of color.
Jim Crow is alive and well in this country even if he is not as obvious and prominently in your face as he used to be.

I'm sick of hearing all these politically Conservative cases made here at a liberal Democratic website.

If this is the cost of a "big tent" party, where we include and allow gun nuts, racists, anti-LGBT rights and anti-abortion zealots to argue against our core principles every fucking day, then that is too high a price to pay.

I will be on air w/Patti Vasquez on WGN radio tonight at 11pm PST talking late night television

We will be discussing the dawning of a new era in late night television.
Jay Leno, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Lorne Michaels, Dave Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel will all be there...in spirit as we talk about them behind their backs.

You can listen online here...

I pulled up to the red light at the intersection...

The white SUV next to me had all the windows down and the mother and teenage daughter in it were singing along with Journey's Don't Stop Believin' that was blasting from the car's speakers.
They got really self-conscious for a moment when they saw me...
until I started singing along with them.
They thought is was awesome, smiling, laughing and singing.
My dog was in the car and thought we were all crazy.
We rocked it as a trio until the light changed and then drove off on our separate ways.

GM’s First Female CEO Will Make Half Of What Her Predecessor Made

They have to take the cost of that broken glass ceiling out of her check.

In December, General Motors (GM) made headlines for picking Mary Barra to replace Dan Akerson as its new CEO. That meant she would not only be the first woman at the helm of the carmaker, but any global carmaker.

But while she may have shattered that glass ceiling, her pay is another story. Looking at the company’s filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Elizabeth MacDonald notes that Barra will be paid $4.4 million in total compensation, which includes a base salary of $1.6 million. Akerson, on the other hand, made an estimated $9 million, with a $1.7 million base salary and $7.3 million in stock. That means Barra will make less than half of what he made. In fact, Akerson will continue to make more as her, as GM will pay him $4.68 million as an outside senior adviser.

Worse, Barra comes to the job with an outsized amount of previous experience. She’s been with the company since 1980 and was most recently serving as senior vice president of global product development. Akerson, on the other hand, came into the role without a background running a car company, previously serving as a managing director of private equity firm The Carlyle Group, although he has been on GM’s board since 2009.

A GM spokesman told MacDonald that Barra’s compensation could increase after shareholders vote in June on her long-term incentive compensation.

I think Bruno Mars should come back out for an encore set and these guys can finish the game in the

parking lot.

The Seahawks are a great team but Peyton Manning is the symbolic leader of this Super Bowl...

A lot of Americans identify with Manning and what he represents this year.
He is the Labor/Union Poster boy of the Big Game this year.

Peyton is playing for everyone who was ever fired from a company where they had dedicated their whole career only to be sent packing prematurely.

Peyton is also playing for everyone who wakes up a little older each day and says "Hey that (knee, hip, back) didn't hurt yesterday".

Lastly, if Peyton loses the folks in Omaha, Nebraska will be crushed.
