Anyone heard from retrowire in the last couple of days?

Haven't seen him post since he got flamed by the assholes.

Hope he's just resting up after Super Tuesday 2.

Beach Haven Ain't My Home

On NPR this afternoon.

Woody Guthrie rented a flat from Donald Trump's father. Old man Trump was such a racist that Guthrie penned a song about him and Beach Haven. Supposedly it was never recorded but was written down.

How great would it be for this to be Bernie's theme song for the presidential race??

Seems this is well-known, but new to me. Among other sources:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/01/21/1472974/-It-turns-out-Donald-Trump-s-father-was-the-racist-landlord-Woody-Guthrie-hated

"I suppose
Old Man Trump knows
Just how much
Racial Hate
he stirred up
In the bloodpot of human hearts
When he drawed
That color line
Here at his
Eighteen hundred family project ."

ACA Choices for South Carolina, 2016

My former health insurer, Consumer's Choice, was unwilling to continue in the South Carolina Healthcare Marketplace for 2016, so I was faced with the prospect of looking for a new provider. Unfortunately this left me with only two choices, BC/BS (54 plans) or Aetna (two plans.)

My old Silver policy had a premium of $435.00 a month with a $3500.00 deductible and an equal out-of-pocket. The cheapest BC/BS Bronze plan will be $520.00 per month with a deductible of $6,300.00 with an out-of-pocket of $6,850.00. Aetna's cheapest plan (Silver) starts at $890.00 per month...

Granted, prior to the ACA I was not able to purchase ANY insurance, but with this new hike in rates and deducts, I am defacto unable to afford health insurance once again. Because of my and my wife's (currently uninsured) combined income we are not eligible for any subsidies. I'm still not sure I understand the "Affordable" in the "Affordable Care Act."

Bernie's Charleston SC Meeting Postponed Due To Tragic Shooting

An email I received last night:

"Larry,

Given the horrific attack at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Bernie is postponing his visit to Charleston, which was originally scheduled for Sunday.

The healing of the Charleston community has to be the only priority in this time of mourning.

Thank you,

Bernie 2016"

Others have posted his email and video condolences to the victims' families and comments about the shooting elsewhere on DU.

Bernie Sanders Charleston SC venue change (OP title change due to tragedy)

(Because of the tragic mass killing in Charleston on Wednesday evening, I have changed the title of this thread. The original title read "Bernie Sanders wil NOT be meeting at the ILA headquarters in Charleston SC..." I did not want any DU'ers who had not previously seen the OP to think the venue had changed or the meeting was cancelled due to the shooting. Bernie has issued a emotional response to the shooting and has labelled it for what it was - a racially-motivated killing.)

Over 1,000 people in ultra-red Charleston SC have signed up to see Bernie. The ILA headquarters is just not big enough to accommodate that many folks. So, the new location is 244 President Street, Charleston SC. The time for the meeting remains the same - 7:00 PM, Sunday, June 21.

Here's the link to Bernie's organizing page for Charleston: https://go.berniesanders.com/page/event/detail/townmeeting/jjq

See you there!
