Philadelphia Eagles Accept Mueller's Offer to Celebrate With Him (Borowitz)

https://bit.ly/2sIS4rv

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—The Philadelphia Eagles have accepted Robert Mueller’s invitation to come to his office and celebrate their Super Bowl victory with him, Mueller has confirmed. The special counsel said that he was “absolutely tickled” that the Eagles had accepted his invitation. “I’m a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, and it turns out the feeling is mutual,” he said.

According to one member of the team, the Eagles accepted Mueller’s invitation only after being assured that their visit would not in any way distract the special counsel from “getting his job done.”

“What Bob Mueller is doing is so much more important than any Super Bowl,” the Eagle player said. “If he wins, the whole world wins.”

For his part, Mueller praised the Eagles for responding to his invitation so quickly, adding, “I invited Trump to see me months ago, and I still haven’t heard back.”

een Who Trekked Every Day To School At 4:30AM Gets Big Surprise After Grad Day Photo Goes Viral Read

https://bit.ly/2JaihKA

Nothing was going to keep teenager Corey Patrick from his high school graduation. But he had no way of knowing that a photo of him taken by a stranger that day would lead to a series of surprises that would change his life.

Nineteen-year-old Corey Patrick spent the entire school year waking up at 4:30 a.m. in order to catch the bus that would take him to Tarrant High School on time.

The Alabama teen would walk from home to his bus stop to make the 5:41 a.m. bus. After school he’d make the same long trip home, meaning he’d return home around 7 p.m.

His family recently moved to another part of town just before his senior year and neither he or his family have a car.

France to make 'Spider-Man' immigrant a legal citizen for scaling building to save child

PARIS, May 28 (Reuters) - France will give residence papers to an illegal immigrant from Mali who scaled the facade of a Paris apartment block to save a boy who was about to fall from a fourth-floor balcony, President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday.

Video shows Mamoudou Gassama, 22, risking his life on Sunday as he climbed up the balconies to rescue the four-year-old who is clinging to a railing and glancing at the ground below, while horrified onlookers watched.

The video went viral and Gassama, who has been nicknamed "Spider-Man" for conducting the rescue in less than a minute, was swiftly granted a meeting at the Elysee Palace.

"This is an exceptional act," Macron told Gassama. "We'll obviously be setting all your papers straight and if you wish it, we will start the process naturalization so that you can become French," he added.

It was also reported that he has been approached by the Fire Dept offering him a job. Of course, here in the US, ICE would have arrested him and deported him immediately.

Public Demands Investigation (Borowitz)

Public Demands Investigation of Why F.B.I. Infiltrators in Trump Campaign Failed to Prevent Him from Being Elected

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Millions of Americans are demanding an investigation into why, if F.B.I. operatives managed to infiltrate the 2016 Trump campaign, they utterly failed to prevent a nightmarish despot from being elected. In interviews across the country, Americans expressed dismay and, in some cases, despair at the news that F.B.I. infiltrators might have had a golden opportunity to prevent the nation’s current unspeakable nightmare from unfolding but did not get the job done.

“The thought of F.B.I. infiltrators being inside the Trump campaign but not sabotaging it is, in a word, devastating,” Carol Foyler, of Akron, Ohio, said. “If it turns out to be true, I will totally lose my faith in F.B.I. infiltrators.”

Harland Dorrinson, of St. Petersburg, Florida, agreed. “If F.B.I. infiltrators were in a position to derail the most heinous threat to democracy in American history but didn’t succeed for some reason, that would be bigger than Watergate,” he said.

Tracy Klugian, of Denver, Colorado, said that a “full and exhaustive investigation” is needed to “determine why our system of F.B.I. infiltrators preventing a horrific proto-fascist menace from taking office somehow broke down. We need to find out what went wrong and fix it before the 2020 election,” he said. “I won’t be able to sleep at night until I know that F.B.I. operatives are infiltrating Trump’s reëlection campaign and irreparably crippling it.”

I have a question for Rudi.

If having a C.I. at the Trump Campaign doing oppo research is 'the greatest scandal since Watergate' why is it OK for Trump to get oppo research from the Russians?

I do dare to call it Treason!

In 1964, when Barry Goldwater ran against Lyndon Johnson, a man named John A. Stormer self-published a book called None Dare Call It Treason. It accused America’s left-leaning elites of paving the way for a Soviet victory in the Cold War. The book sold 7 million copies, but Johnson crushed Goldwater in the election.

Today the psychopath in the White House and his toadies in Congress are showing us that they are perfectly willing to totally destroy our country and turn it over to Russia if they can remain part of the privileged class.

We all know the litany of Trumps thumbing his nose at the Constitution, his absolute belief that he is above the law and can do whatever the hell he wants to do. But now, he wants the DOJ and the FBI to start 'outing' intelligence sources, regardless of the danger not only to the sources and their families, but also to our entire Criminal Justice system but also our entire Intelligence capabilities. How many people to you think would become spies of 'confidential informants' if there was no guarantee that they wouldn't be outed at the whim of some governmental asshole?

This is treason!

Trump Considering Pulling U.S. Out of Constitution (Borowitz)

https://www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/trump-considering-pulling-us-out-of-constitution?mbid=nl_Borowitz%20050918&CNDID=27161810&spMailingID=13474120&spUserID=MTMzMTgyODIwMTg3S0&spJobID=1400812243&spReportId=MTQwMDgxMjI0MwS2

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Calling it “maybe the worst deal ever,” Donald J. Trump said on Wednesday that he is considering pulling the United States out of the United States Constitution. “I’ve seen a lot of bad deals in my life, but this Constitution is a total mess,” he said. “We need to tear it up and start over.”

Trump was scathing in his remarks about the two-hundred-and-twenty-nine-year-old document, singling out for special scorn its insistence on three branches of government. “The branches thing is maybe the worst part of this deal,” he said. “The first thing we do when we pull out of the Constitution is get rid of two of those branches.” He also called the First Amendment “something that really has to go.”

“No one in his right mind would put something like that in a Constitution,” he said. “Russia doesn’t have it. North Korea doesn’t have it. All the best countries don’t have it.” He stopped short of accusing his predecessor, Barack Obama, of writing the United States Constitution, but said, “He’s working hard behind the scenes trying to save it, because he knows that the Constitution is very, very bad for me.”

Vowing to replace the Constitution with “a new, much, much better Constitution,” he acknowledged that there might be some elements of the original document worth salvaging. “We’re going to keep the Second Amendment,” he said, “and definitely the Fifth.”

Are we ready for an epidemic this summer?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/summer-is-coming--and-its-bringing-infectious-disease-with-it/2018/05/04/baa65caa-4ed7-11e8-af46-b1d6dc0d9bfe_story.html?utm_term=.a64ff055b539

Summer is coming. And if you think a warm-weather surge of mosquitoes and ticks is not as frightening as the fictional winter’s White Walkers from “Game of Thrones,” you haven’t read this week’s report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the rapidly escalating danger of infectious diseases spread by insects.

The CDC’s key findings: The number of Americans infected with such diseases, including Zika, West Nile and Lyme, has more than tripled in a decade, jumping from about 30,000 cases a year in 2006 to almost 100,000 in 2016. This total includes nine types of infections never before seen in the United States, including Zika and chikungunya. Looking ahead, 80 percent of state and local health departments are not ready for the insect-borne threat we are facing in just a few weeks.

<snip>

But the biggest challenge is Trump himself. When the United States faced the West African Ebola epidemic in 2014, Trump attacked science-based responses to the threat and essentially argued that President Barack Obama should leave American health-care workers in Africa to die when they were sickened while fighting the disease. (Obama didn’t, and they were saved.) Trump has “energized” the anti-vaccine movement that imperils all that Gates and his allies are trying to achieve. He has proposed an 80 percent reduction in programs designed to stop dangerous diseases overseas before they come to the United States.

The xenophobia that Trump preached during the 2016 campaign contributed to congressional delay as reports emerged about a Zika outbreak arriving here. Trump’s anti-immigration followers said that tougher immigration laws — not public-health measures — were the way to stop Zika. While Congress dithered, Zika took root in parts of Florida and Texas, and — for the first time in history — the CDC had to issue an advisory against travel to parts of the continental United States.

And folks, it ain't getting any better. Trump still doesn't have a Science Advisor. Bolton pushed out the NSC official tasked with pandemic preparation. Oh, and remember, Trump - either intentionally or unintentionally - is whipping up the anti-vaccination BS. Isn't life (or death) under Trump just wonderful?

Did Trump just make a hugely damning admission in the Stormy Daniels case?

Source: Washington Post

President Trump made a rare public comment about the Michael Cohen-Stormy Daniels case Thursday morning, playing down the lawyer's work for him and insisting that he didn't know about Cohen's business activities.

But Trump also said something that would seem ... less than ideal. While describing Cohen's allegedly limited work for him — a “tiny fraction” of his legal work, Trump assured — Trump confirmed to “Fox and Friends” that Cohen “represented” him in the Daniels case.

“Michael would represent me, and represent me on some things,” Trump said. “He represents me — like with this crazy Stormy Daniels deal, he represented me.”

Daniels's attorney, Michael Avenatti, said shortly after Trump's interview that this constitutes a “hugely damning admission.”

I think Trump should do an interview on Fox & Friends every morning. It would take a real load off Federal Prosecutors.
