I have just bought a new TV (smart TV) so I can access Netflix, hulu, etc. via wi fi. I am in the process of figuring out what blue ray player to buy. Should the blue ray also be wi fi capable or is that just a redundancy?

Here's my quandry, I'm going to buy a new TV in a couple of weeks. I'll buy it from Costco. There are two TVs, both the same screen size, smart TV, both the same brand. One is 3D capable the other is not. The 3D is $50 more than the other.
I will be buying a Blue Ray player (currently don't have one). I don't buy a lot of DVD's, I usually record what I want on a DVD.
If the NFL broadcast in 3D, there's no doubt which one I would buy.
Give me some feedback here. How much programming is available in 3D? Is there any 3D programming in the planning stage? Is the extra $50 a waste?
