When did buying a scale become so damn difficult??

My 82 year old mother wants a scale. I have a doctor's scale in my walk in closet, but as she wants to weigh herself first thing in the morning (read 5:30 a.m.) she will not enter my room, lest she wake me.

So we go to Kmart on Saturday and we buy a scale, we bring it home, cannot get it programmed to weigh in pounds, only KGs, so I return it today. Kmart has a weight watchers scale on sale, I bring it home, see the caution sign on the scale and in the directions, it reads "should not be used by people with electrical implants, such as pacemakers." Mom has an implanted defibrillator and pacemaker. I said we should call her doctor and see what he says. She said no, his help will probably say it's ok.

So tomorrow, it's back to Kmart. I'm thinking, waking up at 5:30 might not be so bad after all.
