Kristof On Morning Joe his column was a Right wing hit piece on the most vulnerable

It saddens me that in this country we attack the poor calling them lazy scammers; while the rich who don't work and live off the interest of their trust funds are venerated and given every tax break possible.

I truly hate the right wing

THIS is what poverty sometimes looks like in America: parents here in Appalachian hill country pulling their children out of literacy classes. Moms and dads fear that if kids learn to read, they are less likely to qualify for a monthly check for having an intellectual disability.

Many people in hillside mobile homes here are poor and desperate, and a $698 monthly check per child from the Supplemental Security Income program goes a long way — and those checks continue until the child turns 18.

“The kids get taken out of the program because the parents are going to lose the check,” said Billie Oaks, who runs a literacy program here in Breathitt County, a poor part of Kentucky. “It’s heartbreaking.”

This is painful for a liberal to admit, but conservatives have a point when they suggest that America’s safety net can sometimes entangle people in a soul-crushing dependency. Our poverty programs do rescue many people, but other times they backfire.

Some young people here don’t join the military (a traditional escape route for poor, rural Americans) because it’s easier to rely on food stamps and disability payments.

Antipoverty programs also discourage marriage: In a means-tested program like S.S.I., a woman raising a child may receive a bigger check if she refrains from marrying that hard-working guy she likes. Yet marriage is one of the best forces to blunt poverty. In married couple households only one child in 10 grows up in poverty, while almost half do in single-mother households.

Most wrenching of all are the parents who think it’s best if a child stays illiterate, because then the family may be able to claim a disability check each month.

I want to thank each and everyone of you

I want to thank you for your help and for your kind thoughts and words. my family and I are so grateful to you

Enough of these myths about Entitlements and Gifts

As some of you know I have been out of work since August due to an injury. My husband lost his job in October he has found odd jobs here and there We have 4 kids at home our rent is 450.00 a month. We were able to get Food Stamps but my husband has to work them off, thus limiting his ability to do odd jobs to cover our rent and utilities. He filed for unemployment and was denied because he was terminated and not laid off. I am 43 he is 51 we have never been as far down as we are now. We have worked and paid our taxes all of our adult lives. I have a computer yes but It is a couple of years old I bought it with money I worked for before any of this happened. We went to apply for housing assistance but the waiting list is 3yrs. So I wish someone would tell me where all these gifts are? I'm not seeing them they don't exist it's a bunch of lies. People are losing hope I am anyway. All I get are cold hearted social workers who talk down to me like they are better than me. I'm not gaming the system but am treated like I am.

While the Right is busy blaming Welfare Recipients for their loss

Families are losing their homes and children due to welfare time limits in a bad economy. Poor people see no difference in the way they are treated by either side. Some have lost all hope they live in rural areas of the Country with no transportation and no hope Food Stamps provide food but they don't provide shelter. I am damn sick and tired of the poorest of the poor being kicked and denigrated all the time. It is time to ask are we really our brother's keeper? We need to shame everyone who blames welfare for the economy welfare payments went down under President Obama because many were kicked off for good. My poor friends would like to know where all the goodies are they are supposedly taking? Why are they blamed yet again by the heartless soulless assholes, who don't want to pay an extra dime in taxes, for the shape our Country is in?

President Obama Won By a Landslide 332 EV's

But I'm hearing from friends on the other side that is was a really close election. Any hope I had for reasonable discourse with these people is now gone. We have to turn out in 2014 like it is a National Election that's the only way we will ever get rid of the obstructionists. They live in an alternate reality than the rest of us, the only hope we have is to beat them and beat them bad in 2014.

Which Faux News Critter Would You Like to Smack the Most?

Mine has to be Hannity but Chris Wallace come in a close second. They both have that condescending tone in their voice. I don't know how their regular viewers can stand to hear their voices constantly ick I've been watching them since election night because I savor their tears.
