Noted Dumbass Rand Paul Wants to KILL NET NEUTRALITY All By Himself

There are plenty of hair-brained plans to destroy net neutrality rules, but the latest is, like, hair-brained minus the brain part. You won’t be surprised to hear that the man behind it is attention addict and presidential hopeful Rand Paul. We need to have a chat about facts, Rand. Long story short: Rand Paul wants to ruin the internet by repealing the new—and widely loved—net neutrality rules from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). “Ruin the internet” is a strong phrase, but it’s exactly what many very smart internet experts say will happen if strong net neutrality rules aren’t implemented. Senator Paul has now introduced a bill to the Senate that he intends to push through Congress with the help of a nebulous law that removes procedural hurdles when trying to repeal new regulations. Senator Paul has no cosponsors on the bill. So avoiding the political idiocy of going alone with an unpopular opinion on net neutrality, let’s just focus on the facts that Rand Paul is spitting in America’s direction. Because they’re not facts at all! They’re just plain incorrect. Here are three lines from Senator Paul’s statement about the bill:

This regulation by the FCC is a textbook example of Washington’s desire to regulate anything and everything, and will do nothing more than wrap the Internet in red tape.

Well that’s wrong. There’s actually very little red tape involved in the FCC’s net neutrality rules. The rules are basically written to preserve the internet as it currently exists which, it should be made clear, is pretty unregulated. (More on this in a second.) You might call the provisions to prohibit internet fast lanes, traffic throttling, and website blocking “red tape.” But you might also call laws that prohibit injustice, theft, and censorship “red tape” as well.

The Internet has successfully flourished without the heavy hand of government interference.

Nope! The internet has long been regulated by existing communications laws, however minimally. The FCC classified broadband as an information service back in 2002, after the dot com bubble burst, and imposed a specific set of regulations that’s governed the internet for the past decade and a half. However, those regulations allowed internet service providers to do things that were good for their profits but bad for American consumers. That’s why the FCC crafted new rules that treat the internet more like a public utilityfor the good of American consumers. Presidential hopefuls should probably be on board with that.

Stated simply, I do not want to see the government regulating the Internet.

Officer Driving Van HAS YET TO GIVE STATEMENT To Authorities

~snip~

The sources spoke to ABC7 News after being briefed on the findings of a police report turned over to prosecutors on Thursday.

Sources said the medical examiner found Gray's catastrophic injury was caused when he slammed into the back of the police transport van, apparently breaking his neck; a head injury he sustained matches a bolt in the back of the van.

Details surrounding exactly what caused Gray to slam into the back of the van were unclear. The officer driving the van has yet to give a statement to authorities. It’s also unclear whether Gray’s head injury was voluntary or was a result of some other action.

The WJLA report claims that the person driving the police van has yet to give an official statement to authorities, which certainly makes it seems like he or she is lawyering up or, at the very least, hiding something.

Experts: You CAN'T BREAK YOUR OWN SPINE Like Freddie Gray

"....Another trauma surgeon, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the political nature of the case and because he is “surprised time and again by what I previously believed to be impossible,” thinks that it’s “highly unusual (if not impossible) to deliberately make yourself a quadriplegic while shackled in the back of a police van.....”

On Wednesday night, The Washington Post leaked an alleged report from the Baltimore Police Department, which claims that Freddie Gray, the 21-year-old who died a week after his spine was fractured while in police custody, “was intentionally trying to injure himself” in the back of a Baltimore Police van. The report, whose author is unknown, cites a single source: an unnamed second man who was in the van with Gray for a short time, but could not see him. But if Freddie Gray was trying to break his own spinal cord in the back of a van, according to experts in spinal trauma injuries, it might be the first self-inflicted injury of its kind. “I have never seen it before. I’ve never seen somebody self-inflict a spinal cord injury in that way,” says Anand Veeravagu, a Stanford University Medical Center neurosurgeon who specializes in traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. “It’s hard for me to understand that, unless those terms (like ‘intentional’ and ‘injure himself’) are being used incorrectly. It’s hard for me to envision how a person could try to do that,” he says. “It would require them to basically hang themselves in a car where there isn’t anything to hang yourself with.”

Veeravagu says that there are only a few ways you can injure your spine in a similar way to the injuries that ultimately led to Gray’s death. One, he says, is by a sharp injury, which is a direct penetrating injury—either somebody with a knife “who knows what they’re doing, or something else that cuts through, like a gunshot wound.” The other way, more pertinent to Gray’s case, is by trauma, where the bones are fractured and the ligaments are torn as a result of force or impact. “It is very difficult to sever your spinal cord without a known fracture,” says Veeravagu. “Often, when patients come in with this kind of injury, you’ll find they’ve been either in a car accident or something similar to that kind of impact.” There are times where Veeravagu, who is a former White House Fellow, has seen suicide or self-harm by means of a spinal cord injury, but it’s always by hanging, or by using an apparatus Gray couldn’t have on-hand.

“Unfortunately, sometimes people attempt suicide by hanging themselves. It’s one of the only ways I’ve seen where you can (commit suicide or intentional self-harm) by spinal fracture. They kick their chair out, they fall, they snap their neck. It results in immediate spinal cord injury,” he says. “But it’s very hard to see how somebody could attempt suicide by a spinal cord injury without the use of something else.” But it’s even in those instances, he says, patients often don’t die of a spinal cord injury. And most who are taken to the hospital in time after suffering spinal cord injuries—self-inflicted or not—survive the trauma. “Most spinal cord injuries are not fatal if patients are taken to the hospital,” Veeravagu says. “Most survive.”

Outlets covering The Washington Post’s leak have called the claims from the unnamed source “a twist” and a “new narrative (that) questions police brutality claim.” On Wednesday night, CNN’s broadcast ran a breaking news banner that read: “BREAKING NEWS: WASH. POST: GRAY TRIED TO HURT HIMSELF,” and the video remains on CNN’s Youtube page. The Washington Post’s initial report does not reach out to any medical professionals to determine the feasibility of the leaked document’s claims. The official police report of Gray’s arrest was scheduled to be released publically on Friday, but police delayed the release on Wednesday. “I’m surprised they released that piece of information without a more detailed account,” says Veeravagu. Another trauma surgeon, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the political nature of the case and because he is “surprised time and again by what I previously believed to be impossible,” thinks that it’s “highly unusual (if not impossible) to deliberately make yourself a quadriplegic while shackled in the back of a police van.”

Lefties, Meet Your Candidate: Why Bernie Sanders Is The ONLY AUTHENTIC ALTERNATIVE To Hillary Clinton

If the left flank of the Democratic Party is looking for an alternative to Hillary Clinton around whom to rally, there are no perfect figures. When the Clintons led the centrist iteration of the Democratic Party in the 1990s, two of her potential Democratic challengers, Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee, were actual Republicans. So, no. Another of the men was a good DLC soldier within the Clinton Democratic Party when that suited the advancement of his career, and now he’s acting like Pete Seeger out there because an opportunity has arisen. I cannot think of a better image of Martin O’Malley’s career than him walking through the protests in Baltimore to get his picture taken. He was the one who turned Baltimore over to the wolves of “no tolerance,” broken-windows policing during his tenure as mayor from 1999 to 2007, using his get-tough approach as a stepping stone toward the governor’s mansion. The only authentic guy on the Democratic side of the ledger is the one declaring his candidacy today.

Bernie Sanders is an old leftist crank — we mean that in the best possible way — from Brooklyn. You can tell that he is from Brooklyn if you listen to any word that he says. We will be hearing a lot more about the MILLIONAYUHS AND BILLIONAYUHS over the next year or so, and we’ll be hearing it from someone who didn’t just arrive at his opinions yesterday after commissioning a few focus groups. Among this field, the 73-year-old Vermont senator is the natural recipient for anti-Clinton votes. Yes, there will be a lot of theater criticism surrounding Sanders’ announcement: He’s too old, he’s too left, he’s too regional. He doesn’t properly comb his hair; he hunches over. But what if Democratic voters like him anyway because they agree with his policies — like single-payer healthcare, financial reform, massive infrastructure investments, and campaign finance reform? A revolutionary notion, sure. Once people wrap their heads around the fact that Elizabeth Warren is not running for president, a significant number of votes are going to free up. Recently we asked why pollsters continue including Elizabeth Warren in their surveys, since she’s said repeatedly that she’s not getting into the race, and there’s little reason to believe that’s some sort of long-game ruse.

The two most recent polls from Iowa offer an interesting contrast in how the field shapes up with and without Warren. In both cases, sure, Hillary Clinton is crushing everyone. But who at least can break double digits against her? In a Loras College poll from last week that includes both Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden, Clinton takes 57 percent to Warren’s 15, with Biden at 6 and Sanders at 2. A PPP poll from this week, though, excludes Warren and Biden. (The conventional read on Biden, for what it’s worth, is that he’d jump in if Hillary Clinton imploded and had to drop out. The conventional read on Hillary Clinton is that there is no scandal imaginable that could persuade her to drop out. So.) In this Warren-less, Biden-less survey that more accurately resembles the look of the probable Democratic field, Clinton wins 62 percent of likely Iowa caucus-goers. Bernie Sanders comes in second place with 14 percent, followed by the Baltimore Healer with 6.

‘FOX NEWS Don’t Give A Damn About Black People’ — Baltimore Protesters FED UP

Fox News and Geraldo Rivera continued their biased media coverage of the death of Freddie Gray by taking cameras to the streets of Baltimore. A local resident quickly confronted Rivera with honest and raw emotion, noting how Fox News rather exploit and criticize the black community by focusing on civil unrest than the real issues surrounding Gray’s death. As Rivera evades questions and walks away, the young man states:

“You want to report that we’re thugs and breaking sh-t down!”

He goes on to say:

“I want you and Fox News to get out of Baltimore City, because you’re not here reporting about the boarded up homes and the homeless people under MLK. You’re not reporting about the poverty levels up and down North Avenue.”

He also points out the hypocrisy of Fox News, noting how Rivera was nowhere to be found during the 300 Man march, but was quick to come highlight black riots. The young man says:

“You’re not here for the death of Freddie Gray. You’re here for the story.”

The frustration is real and it’s justified as the young man continues:

“This is real Baltimore. This is where people have to wake up and wonder where they gonna go to get a meal.”

Rivera responded by turning his head away while grinning.

Jon Stewart LAYS INTO Judith Miller: You PUSHED US Into ‘Devastating’ Iraq Mistake

Jon Stewart Lays Into Judith Miller: You Pushed Us Into ‘Devastating’ Iraq Mistake. Jon Stewart really pressed ex-New York Times reporter Judith Miller on her infamous and major role in the lead-up to the Iraq War. “I believe,” he said, “you helped the administration take us to, like, the most devastating mistake in foreign policy that we’ve made in, like, 100 years.”

“But you seem lovely,” he added.

From there, Stewart just really grilled Miller on specific points about her reporting, what she was being fed, and the placement of certain facts and stories. He said the Bush administration has a pretty clear goal to go to Iraq and used whatever pretext they could, and then Miller wrote about it without much skepticism.

When Miller asked if she was just not supposed to report on the administration’s point of view, Stewart said she should have done it “in the context that this administration was very clearly pushing a narrative.” He ended the interview by lamenting how discussions like these ‘always make me incredibly sad” because they point to “institutional failure at the highest levels.”

PRISONER IN VAN Said Freddie Gray Was ‘BANGING AGAINST THE WALLS’ During Ride

BALTIMORE — A prisoner sharing a police transport van with Freddie Gray told investigators that he could hear Gray “banging against the walls” of the vehicle and believed that he “was intentionally trying to injure himself,” according to a police document obtained by The Washington Post. The prisoner, who is currently in jail, was separated from Gray by a metal partition and could not see him. His statement is contained in an application for a search warrant, which is sealed by the court. The Post was given the document under the condition that the prisoner not be named because the person who provided it feared for the inmate’s safety. The document, written by a Baltimore police investigator, offers the first glimpse of what might have happened inside the van. It is not clear whether any additional evidence backs up the prisoner’s version, which is just one piece of a much larger probe.

Gray was found unconscious in the wagon when it arrived at a police station on April 12. The 25-year-old had suffered a spinal injury and died a week later, touching off waves of protests across Baltimore, capped by a riot Monday in which hundreds of angry residents torched buildings, looted stores and pelted police officers with rocks. Police have said they do not know whether Gray was injured during the arrest or during his 30-minute ride in the van. Local police and the U.S. Justice Department both have launched investigations of Gray’s death. Jason Downs, one of the attorneys for the Gray family, said the family had not been told of the prisoner’s comments to investigators.

“We disagree with any implication that Freddie Gray severed his own spinal cord,” Downs said. “We question the accuracy of the police reports we’ve seen thus far, including the police report that says Mr. Gray was arrested without force or incident.”

Baltimore police said they will wrap up their investigation Friday and turn the results over to the Baltimore state’s attorney’s office, which will decide whether to seek an indictment. Six police officers, including a lieutenant and a sergeant, have been suspended.

BUNDY-SUPPORTING Hannity Chastises Baltimore Protester

Sean Hannity supported (white) rancher Cliven Bundy’s armed threats against law enforcers. Yet Hannity has nothing scorn for African American protesters in Baltimore. Remember when Hannity and Fox News presented Bundy as a victim and suggested that his violent threats against law enforcers were justified?

You talked about a range war with the federal government. There’s a lot of people out there - now that they’re taking your cattle - that are fearful that this is another Waco situation. Ruby Ridge has come up in some articles. What do you mean “range war?” How far are you willing to take this? (4/9/14)

I would assume as Cliven’s son, you want to protect your Dad. What are your plans if in fact (federal agents) come late in the night? …Do you worry that in fact they may kill either your Dad or somebody in your family? (4/15/14)

They may want to make an example out of you. I would hate to see that happen. …Are you worried about what the federal government’s capable of doing from this point forward? (4/16/14)

Later, Hannity didn’t hide his condescension as he asked, “Isn’t the police department a minority majority-run police department? Isn’t this a minority-run city in terms of its politics?"

Translation: Why isn’t that enough blackitude for you?

Finally, as Hannity asked disapprovingly, “Whatever your grievance is… is this the answer, the burning and looting and robbing of your city, sir?” Adams snapped, “You’re not concerned about the welfare of the poor or black people! You’re talking about property destruction!” Later, Adams said, “I do not think that violence is an effective strategy for justice. But I will not moralize on black people. People like you, Sean? When 9/11 happened, the United States government invaded Iraq and Afghanistan.”

BOOM!- Baltimore Protester TELLS Geraldo Rivera And Fox News TO LEAVE

Fox Noise Whoraldo Rivera gets his ass handed back to him.................

Geraldo Rivera got a dose of truth Tuesday night when he went to report on Baltimore and was confronted by a group of protesters.

"....he's confronted by a very articulate young man, who tells him exactly why he is unwelcome. As he got in front of the camera, the young protester addressed Rivera directly. "I want you and Fox News to get out of Baltimore City, because you're not here reporting about the boarded up homes and the homeless people under MLK. You're not reporting about the poverty levels up and down North Avenue." He wasn't finished either. He went on to point out that Fox News wasn't there when they peacefully marched from one side of the city to the other two years ago and then he wrapped all of that in truth"But you're here for the black riots. You're not here for the death of Freddie Gray!"

In the background, you can hear the crowd saying "Fox News Lies" and more. Rivera dismissed this young man as an "anarchist."

"I had an important story to tell standing there," he said. "It’s exactly that kind of youthful anarchy that led to the destruction and pain in that community.”

Geraldo totally missed the boat on what's causing pain in that community. He should go back and actually listen to what that young man said. He was incredibly articulate, and pointed about his problems with media like Fox News.
