California Here We Come, Bernie Sanders Tells HUGE Sacramento Rally

PRESS RELEASE

California Here We Come, Sanders Tells Huge Sacramento Rally

MAY 9TH, 2016

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – “We are coming to California,” U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders told a rally on Monday as he kicked off a home-stretch campaign push to win the state’s treasure trove of delegates and help “take the political revolution” all the way to this summer’s Democratic National Convention.

“The political establishment is getting nervous,” Sanders told more than 16,000 people at a soccer stadium in California’s capital city. “They should be getting very nervous because real change is coming.”

Sanders already has won 18 primaries and caucuses and amassed more than 45 percent of all pledged delegates going into this summer’s convention to Philadelphia. California will elect 475 pledged delegates on June 7. By then, Sanders could be coming off more wins in the final laps of the presidential primaries and caucuses.

“Nobody can predict the future but I think we’ve got a good shot to win in West Virginia and Kentucky and Oregon and after those three states we’re coming to California and with your help we’re going to win the biggest prize of all, the California primary,” Sanders said.

“We are going to fight for every vote until June 14 and we are going to take the political revolution into the convention in Philadelphia,” Sanders said.

At the Sacramento rally Sanders continued to detail what he called “profound differences of opinion” with Hillary Clinton.

Foremost among their differences, he said, is their approach to raising money to fund their campaigns. Sanders has relied on more than 7.3 million small-dollar donations averaging $27 apiece. Clinton has looked to big-dollar donors to fund her presidential campaign and to super PACs that take unlimited sums from special interests.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that Clinton is relying more and more on Wall Street donors and financial-services executives. During the last reporting period, according to the analysis of records compiled by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, she raised another $4.2 million from Wall Street – more than any other candidate running for president combined. Clinton’s super PAC has now received almost $19 million from Wall Street, more than any other industry.

Saying that “our current campaign finance system is corrupt and it is undermining American democracy,” Sanders called for public funding of elections.

Hillary Clinton Ally Sidney Blumenthal WON'T SAY If He’s Been Interviewed By FBI

Blumenthal: "I've been urging transparency".......but I won't tell you if I've been interviewed by the FBI....

When quizzed by MSNBC’s Chris Matthews Monday night, Clinton ally Sidney Blumenthal dodged questions about whether or not he had spoken to the FBI about Hillary Clinton‘s private email server.

“I guess the first question is have you been interviewed by the FBI for those email investigation by the FBI, have you been interviewed?” the host of Hardball asked Blumenthal to begin the interview.

Blumenthal gave a long answer calling for transparency, but ignoring Matthews’ question. “But Sid, have you been interviewed by the FBI yet on this matter?” he tried again.

“I really don’t want to talk about an ongoing inquiry right now,” Blumenthal responded.

“You can’t say whether you’ve been interviewed or not?” Matthews pressed.

“My feeling about it is that let’s wait and see at the end and see what happens to everybody involved in it and see what the resolution is,” he said.

Bernie Sanders Backs California Initiative to STOP RX RIPOFFS

PRESS RELEASE

Sanders Backs California Initiative to Stop Rx Ripoffs

MAY 10TH, 2016

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Tuesday backed a California ballot initiative to save state taxpayers from being ripped off by pharmaceutical companies which charge Americans the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs.

“While Congress has failed to stand up to the greed of the pharmaceutical industry, the people of California can by supporting this ballot initiative,” the Vermont senator said.

The California Drug Price Relief Act is supported by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and National Nurses United, both headquartered in Oakland, California. “Americans living with HIV/AIDS and cancer should not live in fear that they will go bankrupt because of the outrageously high cost of their prescription drugs,” Sanders said.

The proposition would prohibit the state from paying more for a prescription drug than the lowest price paid for the same drug by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The nationwide VA health care system negotiates lower prices for pharmaceuticals.

As a former chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, Sanders authored landmark legislation reforming the health care system for veterans. “We know that the VA pays considerably less than retail prices for prescription drugs. The people of California and all Americans should get the same price,” Sanders said.

Prices for prescription medicine in the United States soared last year more than 10 percent – the third consecutive year of double digit price increases. One out of five adults between the ages of 18 and 64 – more than 35 million Americans – cannot afford the medications that their doctors prescribe. “In the richest country in the history of the world,” Sanders said, “that is unacceptable.”

The pharmaceutical industry is bankrolling a campaign to defeat the California initiative. “It is no surprise that the pharmaceutical industry already has dedicated $50 million to defeat this ballot initiative,” Sanders said. “Their greed has no end.”

In Congress, Sanders and Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland have introduced comprehensive legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs. Their bills would authorize the secretary of Health and Human Services to negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical companies and reduce barriers to the importation of lower-cost drugs from Canada and other countries.

Sanders and Cummings, the ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, also have spotlighted steep price increases for generic drugs. The increases cost taxpayers an additional $1.4 billion over the last decade, according to a study Sanders and Cummings requested from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services inspector general. Prices of top-selling generic drugs rose faster than inflation 22 percent of the time over the 10-year period examined by the study.

Sanders was in California this week ahead of the state’s June 7 presidential primary election.

New Polling Shows Bernie Sanders, Not Clinton, MOST Formidable Against Trump

The NBC News/SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking Poll found that if the 2016 presidential election were held today, 53 to 40 percent of voters would elect Sanders over Donald Trump—which is more than double the margin that Hillary Clinton holds over the presumptive Republican nominee. According to the survey, which was conducted online from May 2 through May 8, the former secretary of state also leads Trump, but with a far smaller margin: 49 to 44 percent, with an error estimate of plus or minus 1.3 percentage points.

Meanwhile, a separate poll found that in key presidential swing states the anointed nominees are running neck and neck. The latest Quinnipiac University survey released Tuesday shows Clinton beating Trump by just one point—43 to 42 percent—in both Florida and Pennsylvania. In Ohio, the real estate mogul holds a four-point lead over Clinton, with 43 to 39 percent.

Echoing the NBC News findings, Sanders bests Trump in all three of those states' hypothetical match-ups. The Vermont senator leads by two percentage points in both Florida and Ohio (44-42 percent and 43-41 percent, respectively) while beating Trump 47 to 41 percent in Pennsylvania. The Quinnipiac survey notes that "since 1960 no candidate has won the presidential race without taking at least two of these three states."

"If Democrats want to have the strongest candidate against Donald Trump they should look at those polls," Sanders declared during a rally at New Jersey's Rutgers University on Sunday. National polls have repeatedly shown Sanders beating Trump by a larger margin than Clinton.

Trump: Hillary Clinton Has A ‘BAD TEMPERAMENT — Her Husband Learned That A Few Times’

~snip~

Trump said Clinton has a “bad temperament,” and then in reference to her rocky marriage to President Bill Clinton, he said, “her husband learned that a few times.”

Sopan Deb @SopanDeb

Here is Trump turning a critique of Clinton's foreign policy positions into a crack about the Clinton marriage.

Also on foreign policy, Trump said he opposed the war in Iraq, even though he was not in office, and added “Iraq is Harvard for terrorists. If you want to be a terrorist, you go to Iraq. Iraq is Harvard for terrorists.”

Sopan Deb ?@SopanDeb

Trump took out his Bill Clinton impersonation today, which sounds suspiciously like his Jeb Bush/Graham voice.

Hillary Clinton SHUTDOWN at ELAC

We based our calls on Hillary to drop out on her policies and exploits against the people of Central and South America. Specifically her support for the coup in Honduras against the exiled president Manuel Zelaya, and the subsequent assassination of Environmentalist ‪#?BertaCaceres‬ who fingered Clinton just days before her own murder. Clinton's insistence that children from Central America who immigrated here in recent years in the tens of thousands be deported was also a heavy weight on our conscience so we wanted to bring it to light to her and her supporters.

Of course there are hundreds of other reasons to eliminate Clinton from our political boudoir, but as she continues her quest for Latinx support, we need to make it plainly obvious that she does not support the Latinx community.

Pro-Clinton Super PAC Caught ASTROTURFING on Social Media, Op-Ed Pages

"..The Intercept reports Friday that anti-Sanders column purportedly penned by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed was actually written by corporate lobbyist and edited by Super PAC.."

"..There would be no need for a 'digital task force,'" Gosztola wrote, "if the Clinton campaign did not fear that Americans are learning too much about how Clinton is beholden to corporate and special interests, which will heavily influence her as president..."

The Clinton Lying Machine........

An anti-Bernie Sanders column allegedly penned by Atlanta's "influential" Democratic Mayor Kasim Reed ahead of Georgia's Super Tuesday primary appears to have been "primarily written by a corporate lobbyist" and "edited by Correct the Record, one of several pro-Clinton Super PACs," according to The Intercept on Friday.

"Sanders' record is simply not strong when compared to Obama and Clinton," Reed's op-ed read, "both of whom have prioritized reducing gun violence in our cities and across our country."

The piece continued:

Sanders assumes his single-issue platform will help everyone, but only Clinton's plans work from the ground up to identify and break down barriers unique to African-American families. For the single mother riding two buses to her second job, Sanders' one-issue platform just doesn't cut it. And for the poor child in Flint, Michigan, forced to drink tainted water from a government tap, Sanders' Wall Street-focused message doesn't carry weight.

But emails released from Reed's office suggest that the mayor himself had little to do with the op-ed. Indeed, Anne Torres, the mayor's director of communications, told The Intercept's Lee Fang that "the column was not written by the mayor, but by Tharon Johnson, a former Reed adviser who now works as a lobbyist for UnitedHealth, Honda, and MGM Resorts, among other clients. The column's revisions by staffers from Correct the Record are documented in the emails."

Reed "provided verbal edits and feedback to Tharon, but other than that, no one from my office or the mayor's office wrote this op-ed," Torres said.Neither Johnson nor Correct the Record, a Super PAC formed by Republican-turned-Democrat strategist David Brock, responded to Fang's request for comment. Correct the Record drew fire last month after pledging to spend $1 million to "push back against" anti-Clinton posts on social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and Instagram.

Hillary Clinton MUST RELEASE Her Wall St.TRANSCRIPTS Now That the Prerequisite She Set Has Been Met

~snip~

In fact, she said quite the opposite — she made a promise to the American people to release those transcripts once a specific prerequisite had been met. Not much nuance in that statement.

It means that when all Wall Street speeches given by all presidential candidates have been released, Americans will be able to find out, once and for all, what the candidate most likely to become President (81 percent chance) actually believes about the topic Americans consider far and away the most important. Neither of the two remaining candidates for President not named Clinton have given any speeches to Wall Street.

Which means it’s time for us to see those speeches Secretary Clinton gave for a total of $25 million in speaking fees. Naturally, the media (still) agrees. Surely the media that was so keen on this topic less than three weeks ago has been knocking down Clinton’s door to get this information the American people are so invested in? They haven’t even tapped on that door.

Not a single question about the speeches has been asked to Secretary Clinton in the past two weeks, nor did the end of the Ted Cruz and John Kasich presidential campaigns — which immediately triggered the release of Clinton’s Wall Street speeches, per her own publicly declared standard — cause anyone in the massive apparatus of our nation’s Fourth Estate to start doing their job on this topic.

So the question becomes, outside of a single columnist on The Huffington Post, who in the mainstream media is going to be the first to demand that Secretary Clinton live up to her commitments and prove herself as honest as she says she is? And what will be the consequences if Americans ever get this information they’re undoubtedly entitled to? Is knowing what a candidate believes and says in speeches to large groups not a part of the job interview for Most Powerful Person on Earth? Since when?
