New York's Civilian Complaint Review Board has substantiated two complaints against Daniel Pantaleo, the New York City policeman caught on tape in the infamous Eric Garner case. Rolling Stone has learned the board ruled that Pantaleo did in fact use a chokehold, and also ruled that Pantaleo restricted Garner's breathing.

A Year Later, the Garner Grand Jury Decision Still Stings
The CCRB recommended departmental charges – the strongest possible reprimand – in the case.

This is the first real step toward discipline of officer Pantaleo in the three years since Garner's killing. While the ruling does not necessarily mean he actually will be disciplined by the NYPD, it does at least mean a group of city investigators has finally conceded that Pantaleo used a banned procedure and improper force.

After the events in Charlottesville, VA (actually since the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States), the country is a little bit…um…divided. Right now letter written by 67-year-old Jonna Ramey and published in The Salt Lake Tribune is currently all over the internet, after having been tweeted by a woman named Alicia Mayer. This is a great thing because it's a sentiment that should be spread far and wide. The blistering op-ed, which reads as an open letter to white supremacists, is titled simply, "What is wrong with you?

I am a 67-year-old American white woman. My parents enlisted in World War II to fight fascism. They both served; my mother was a nurse, my father navigated bombers. They lost friends in that bloody war so that all the world could be free of fascism. They did not fight so that some white people could claim supremacy or that Nazis could openly walk the streets of America.

People of European heritage are doing just fine in the world. They run most of the world’s institutions, hold much of the world’s wealth, replicate as frequently as other humans. You’re not in any danger here. The world is changing, that’s true. Others want a piece of the pie. They work for it, strive for it and earn it. Technology (robotics) is having a greater effect on your job prospects than immigrants. Going forward, tackling corporate control and climate change will need all of our attention, ideas and energy. Put down your Tiki torches and trite flags and get involved in some real work.

By the way, the world won the war against Nazi fascism in the 1940s, just as America won the war against the Confederacy in the 1860s. Aligning with two lost causes just labels you as profound losers.

And finally, white person to white person: Like my parents before me, I will not stand idly by nor give up my rights or the rights of other Americans because you think you are better than some of us. It doesn’t work that way. All Americans stand shoulder to shoulder against your hatred and bigotry

This is a case I know much about. Bain Capital makes a lot of its money by bad faith dealings; and has benefited from racketeering. It was only a matter of time before Toys R Us went bankrupt (after we got help to stop another {likely rip off IPO})

A girl stabbed a boy at a school in Washington, D.C., Tuesday afternoon, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

The 12-year-old daughter of a diplomat stabbed the 13-year-old boy twice in the shoulder with scissors in Georgetown at the British International School of Washington at 2001 Wisconsin Ave. NW just before 1 p.m., police said.

The victim was taken to Children's National Medical Center. He was conscious and alert and is expected to be OK.

In the world of New York sports radio, Craig Carton is known as the quick-witted, unpredictable, top-rated co-host of a morning drive-time show that moves quickly from football to family life to sports betting. Federal prosecutors say he’s also a Ponzi schemer.

Carton was arrested Wednesday and charged with ripping off investors of millions of dollars in an alleged scam that involved buying and and selling tickets to concerts by Adele, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and Barbra Streisand. U.S. regulators said he used the money to pay off gambling debts.

The arrest is the latest in a widening probe of alleged fraud in the ticket-resale industry. Carton, who has hosted the WFAN radio show with former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason since 2007, is the biggest name implicated to date. Esiason isn’t accused of wrongdoing.

Alonso Guillen came to the U.S. from Mexico as a child. He died here, too: On Wednesday, he disappeared when his boat capsized while he was rescuing survivors of the flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey in the Houston area.

Family members recovered his body on Sunday from a creek in Spring, Texas, according to The Houston Chronicle ― just hours before reports emerged that President Donald Trump will end the program that shielded Guillen and others like him ― so-called Dreamers ― from deportation.
