Lawyers on Strike Blog: FBI on Amanda Knox Death Threats

There's a very cool blog by an attorney titled "Lawyers on Strike". On the counselor's "About" page, it stipulates that "The author is a lawyer. Sometimes". Before I do a banter upon the Amanda Knox case, we shall first see why I like this attorney at law. For it is written there - that;

There is a huge gulf between the public perception of the legal system in the US and its reality. In public perception, injured people get outrageously high monetary awards and criminal defendants are coddled or acquitted.

The reality is that injured people and criminal defendants get screwed. It happens so much, so often, so egregiously that many lawyers would simply quit if they knew what else to do.

[br]
[br]

[br]
Amanda Knox's Threats Investigated by FBI
[br]
As noted by the Lawyers on Strike Blog (here), Amanda Knox is being attacked on many fronts. There's also a note from the Lawyers on Strike Blog (pic above therefrom) about the fact that the Judge who ruled the case against Amanda was bogus - also is being harassed beyond compare.

The Blog concludes that there is too little compensation to those that are destroyed by legal malfunctioning cases. Of this many of U.S. here in America agree. Often those found not guilty a decade or more later after they were incorrectly incarcerated, are faced with the choice of signing pleas of no contest - just to get back their freedom they deserve.

At least in Italy (as the Lawyers on Strike blog iterates) - there's a rule of law that the innocent MUST go free.

Not so - here in America!
[br]
[br]

[br]

I'm just curious, as the Lawyers on Strike points out - if any here still think Knox is guilty....As the pic above shows (from the U.K. Mirror) - Amanda on the left and the deceased/killed Meredith on the right. Who is to blame and why the prosecutors played such national stage games......

just sayin.......

Wall Street/Bush's Buy Up Water Rights: As Fracking Continues Poisonings

We've been barking loud about the fact that Fracking is a profitable way for corporations to poison water supplies. The additional caveat/ argument is that the goal is turn a necessary, natural resource into a commodity more expensive than oil.

For you CAN live without oil; but you CAN'T live without water!

Many said that my battle with Romney has gone to my head. That the notion there could be any "conspiracy" to turn abundant, clean, drinking water - into a profit commodity - is simply absurd. To which I reply with the following question, would your grand daddy have paid a $1 for bottled water? And most reply that water was cleaner back in the day.

DUH!

So, I'll make my case for why you should be concerned and up in arms. There's abundant evidence out there that "somethin" is going on. The question you have to ask yourself - is - What is really happening! As for me, I'm overwhelmed by the fact that more of U.S. - are not up in AR<s over this crisis issue. And - make NO mistake - it IS a crisis.

Wall Street, Billionaires & Bush's Gobble of Water Rights
[br]
According to journo Jo-Shing Yang's recent published item (pic above thereof) upon the GlobalResearch.ca Centre for Research on Globalization's item: "The New 'Water Barons': Wall Street Mega-Banks are Buying up the World's Water" - the following items are facts;

A disturbing trend in the water sector is accelerating worldwide. The new “water barons” — the Wall Street banks and elitist multibillionaires — are buying up water all over the world at unprecedented pace.

Familiar mega-banks and investing powerhouses such as Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Citigroup, UBS, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse, Macquarie Bank, Barclays Bank, the Blackstone Group, Allianz, and HSBC Bank, among others, are consolidating their control over water. Wealthy tycoons such as T. Boone Pickens, former President George H.W. Bush and his family, Hong Kong’s Li Ka-shing, Philippines’ Manuel V. Pangilinan and other Filipino billionaires, and others are also buying thousands of acres of land with aquifers, lakes, water rights, water utilities, and shares in water engineering and technology companies all over the world.

[br]
Criminalizing Collecting Rainwaters
[br]
A more alarming note to anyone, should be the fact that Global Research updated this story, a week ago; but it is from an original publish date of December 2012. While the story notes that the elite 1% are acquiring water/ aquifer rights World Wide, it also details the fact of government push to prevent anyone else from doing the same. As noted by Global Research's details of a case in Oregon - that;

The second disturbing trend is that while the new water barons are buying up water all over the world, governments are moving fast to limit citizens’ ability to become water self-sufficient (as evidenced by the well-publicized Gary Harrington’s case in Oregon, in which the state criminalized the collection of rainwater in three ponds located on his private land, by convicting him on nine counts and sentencing him for 30 days in jail). Let’s put this criminalization in perspective:

Billionaire T. Boone Pickens owned more water rights than any other individuals in America, with rights over enough of the Ogallala Aquifer to drain approximately 200,000 acre-feet (or 65 billion gallons of water) a year. But ordinary citizen Gary Harrington cannot collect rainwater runoff on 170 acres of his private land.

[br]
[br]

[br]
Before we get into the nasty things that are happening out there (as part of the conspiracy to rush the new age of paying for every drop of water used each day), we need take a look at how serious an issue this would be. In order to do that we need to see just how much water each person uses each and every day.

If you had to guess, how many gallons of water would you say a person uses? Five gallons! Ten Gallons! According to the U.S. Geological Survey website (here), each and every person utilizes 80 gallons of water per day (average). Most of that being in the tub, shower, sink and toilet. If you wish to prove this premise true or false, the USGS has a link to a place you can calculate (go to We Calc - HERE). (NOTE: a tub is usually 30 gallons, a shower 2 to 3 gallons per minute and a flush 2 to 3 gallons)

Imagine to having to pay anywhere near gas prices per gallon - for 20, 30 or up to 100 gallons per day.

Jo-Shing's update to the Global Research online thread, points out that Goldman Sachs stated (back in 2008) that "water is the next petroleum". More recently, Goldman Sachs tried to acquire Reno, Nevada's by giving them a cash payment up front and then privatizing Reno's Water Authority for the next 50 years.

And we all know about the Michigan water privatization nightmare going on right now (here - here and here).

If you looked at the previous sentence's links, you would have seen that they are all DU pieces. As a matter of fact, DU'rs have been pointing out the goings on - since 2007 (at least as early as). (See DU piece on Michigan water diversion of 2008 {here} - and an even more alarming DU thread about New Mexico's governor wanting to take Lake Michigan's waters to the dessert state {here})

Any decent Progressive should already be aware of Josh Fox's GasLand documentary. It opened many people's eyes to the manifest injustice transpiring throughout America. It was even nominated for an Academy Award.

See trailer for Gasland here;
[br]

[br]
[br]
Immediately after the Gasland trailer, it moves onto the FREE full documentary film of Gasland. It is yours truly who contends that Fracking is a for profit way to poison our nations water supply. It is already happening. Meanwhile, frack frkers continue to do their ebol.

Here's one common sense farmer doing a Julia Roberts depiction of Erin Brockovich, by bringing the "purported" safe/ clean water to a Hearing by the persons saying "it's safe to drink"....

Spills, Thrills and other Poison ILLs

Returning to the Global Research article by Jo-Shing Yang (here), it contains additional remarks germane. Citibank is quoted saying that the water market will soon eclipse oil, agriculture and precious metals. Here's the list of priorities per Citibank;

    1. Desalination systems
    2. Water reuse technologies
    3. Produced water / water utilities
    4. Membranes for filtration
    5. Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection
    6. Ballast-water treatment technologies
    7. Forward osmosis used in desalination
    8. Water-efficiency technologies and products
    9. Point-of-use treatment systems
    10. Chinese competitors in water

[br]

[br]
Please (and I Mean PLEASE) take note of the fact that those are ALL water cleaning measures (except for China). Now, you should also keep in mind that China is a major polluter and has been importing U.S. water for decades now (that means we have been EXPORTING our precious commodity). As the picture above (from Simon Black's Blog Sovereign Man - HERE) details - China's number one problem (even beyond feeding itself) is the need for clean water.

As noted by Sovereign Man Blog;

Chief Economist Qian Keming of China’s Agriculture Ministry summed it up by telling the audience at the Third China International Agribusiness Forum:

“Fresh water resources are only 2100 cubic meters per capita, which is only 28% of the world’s average level.”

and

“The shortage of [water for agricultural irrigation] each year is about 30 billion cubic meters. China imported about 148.6 billion cubic meters of water in 2013, which was equivalent to 38% of China’s agricultural water.”

Here’s that number in perspective: China water imports of 148.6 billion cubic meters last year handily exceeded the 569 MILLION (0.569 billion) cubic meters of oil that the United States imported.

[br]
Now.... you may have heard of the spill in Yosemite, recently. However, what you may not know, is that spills in Yosemite (and elsewhere) have been going on for some time now (see "Spills Again" here ). Then there's also the recent fracking news of other spills and cover up of chemical spill into Ohio River, West Virginia (by Haliburton of all people - Here).

See Scientific American on Fracking bringing Ammonium and Iodide to water supplies (here).

[br]
[br]
POISON Water Supplies and GET PAID[br]

As stated above

We've been barking loud about the fact that Fracking is a profitable way for corporations to poison water supplies. The additional caveat/ argument is that the goal is turn a necessary, natural resource into a commodity more expensive than oil
.

For you CAN live without oil; but you CAN'T live without water!

Wake Up People! GW Bush is the man who changed the Law of EPA and his family is buying up the rights to WATER!

Petition to Honor abused Special Needs Student getting Jacket taken away

Late Friday, one of our followers asked that I post a DU GD thread (here) about a Wichita Kansas High School Principal embarrassing a down syndrome/autistic (adopted) student named Michael Kelley. Whereas, the special needs kid was complained about by another parent, as having not really earned the varsity letter jacket he was wearing. (For more details on the saga - look at Raw story online article {HERE})

Of course, many of U.S. disagree with the perverse logic. (Especially given the fact that the school in question is the State Champ). After all, the Letters are SOLD in sports shops and have NO requirements. As a result of the abuse upon Michael Kelley we have signed a fellow student of his (Libby Hastings) PETITION to "Give them Letters". And I have news for the snide/ignorant parent....

If a down syndrome, autistic child can be misconstrued as equal to your son's achievements -
----------------------------------------------------------------------- It doesn't bode well for chest thumping/ bragging rights .....

[br]
[br]

A Cloud/Crowd Funding Campaign
to Honor Michael Kelley
[br]
It is not appropriate for me to start it (my battle with Mitt & gangs is heating up now and I don't want him suggesting my homelessness took advantage) - HOWEVER, I wish someone would start a Crowd/ Cloud funding campaign for Michael Kelley. Where we send Michael something like 100 Jackets, pants, tennis shoes with "We Love You Michael Kelley" (and 3 for the butthole Principal, other student and parents - telling them of their shame {like an upside down letter}).

PLEASE sign the PETITION for Michael Kelley and help spread the word to Give them Letters?
[br]
Meanwhile - here's a Youtube video on what happened.....Meanies took his Jacket away and gave him a girl's sweater

to Michael Kelley's Parents

There's another great story within the story here. As it appears that the down syndrome/ autistic child - Michael Kelley - was adopted. Those who adopt are of noble worthiness extra. Especially if one adopts a special needs child.

POTUS Interviews "The Wire's" David Simon About War on Drugs

It what is nothing short of fantastic, President of the United States Barack Obama sat down with David Simon, a former reporter who does not like Hollywood; but who worked/ wrote HBO's show "The Wire". Where this is what was discussed (as posted on WhiteHouse.gov - HERE);

The President Interviews the Creator of "The Wire" About the War on Drugs

This week, that former reporter – David Simon, the creator of HBO’s The Wire – and that former young senator -- President Barack Obama -- sat down to talk honestly about the challenges law enforcement face and the consequences communities bear from the war on drugs. Listen to what they had to say:

[br]

[br]

The online article concludes with this reiteration of the remarks of POTUS Obama and David Simon;
[br]

President Obama: If we can start down this path to a more productive way of thinking about drugs and its intersection with law enforcement, 20 years from now we can say to ourselves, well, maybe we got a little smarter. And we didn’t get here overnight; we're not going to get out of it overnight. But the fact that we've got people talking about it in a smarter way gets me a little encouraged.

David Simon: From your mouth to God’s ear.

Kansas Principal Orders Down Syndrome Child to Remove Lettered Jacket

Raw Story has a piece (here) on an East Wichita Kansas High School Principal getting a complaint from a student's parent; which results in a ruling that a down syndrome child is forbidden to wear a school jacket bought for him - that has a Varsity Letter upon it.

[br]
KSN News reported that student Michael Kelley — who has Down syndrome and autism — doesn’t play on one of Wichita East High School’s varsity teams, but rather on the school’s special needs volleyball team.

The boy’s mother, Jolinda Kelley, told KSN that the school informed her that official varsity letters are available only to players who lettered in a varsity sport.

“Another parent, from what I am told, was upset that my son was wearing his letter jacket,” she said, so the school principal asked Michael to remove the jacket and gave him a sweatshirt to wear instead.

East High Principal Ken Thiessen told KSN, “Teachers told the (Kelley) parents they would prefer he not wear the letter on his jacket.”

[br]

[br]

KSN talked to his {kid in question} mother Jolinda Kelley. She says Michael, her adopted son, is one of a kind and loves to play basketball.

When he was recognized for participating, Jolinda bought a varsity letter and put that letter on the jacket.

[br]

The following is an UPDATE to the previous article - with a note of intent to pursue the issues further.
[br]
East High will celebrate the varsity basketball team winning state this year, and the team will be recognized by the school board Monday night.

Jolinda Kelley held a press conference at Sedgwick County Park’s Boundless Playground to share their perspective on East High School’s policies involving special needs athletes. That press conference happened at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

During the press conference, Jolinda addressed several issues and answered questions to the media. KSN will be releasing more information on the press conference on our 6 p.m. newscast. If you would like to view the notes from the press conference, click here.

Couple of BIG surprises in store - for Romney & gangs

It took me years to find this....

BooYah!

Religious Objection to Gays: Is there a Gay Tester - MultiMeter?

Let's say that some quack gets an inane LAW passed that permits Hobby Lobbying to apply to restaurants, where you can refuse to service an LGBT on religious grounds. What - exactly - would such Code/Rule of Law state? And - how would a proprietor by able to make such decision?

Could they just point at anybody and say ----- "OH NO - It's a Gay"?
[br]
Will there be signs "No Gay - No Way"?

Has the right developed some new/
secret testing device
- such as an LGBT MultiMeter?
[br]
I have 2 good activist FB/Twitter friends about LGBT issues (Horace Boothroyd III and Kent Price). As the pics above demonstrate (from the website "Religious Freedom" and the World War on LGBTQ People, there's a civil war going on, against everyone who isn't defined as "straight". Horace (whom I call Mr. III), had recently attended and posted an online DK thread about the Oregon Ban of "Conversion", Where Mr. III's DK thread titled "My Statement re: HB2307 Conversion Therapy Ban in the State of Oregon" stipulates that;

Thank you all for attending in order to hear public comments on this matter.

I am in favor of the ban on conversion therapy. In fact I feel it does not go far enough, these charlatans destroy families and should be incarcerated in proportion to the harm they cause and they should be financially culpable to those they have damaged.

[br]
[br]
Meanwhile, my other buddy Ken, has this to say on Facebook;

As same sex marriage spreads across the country, conservatives are pushing laws that would provide individuals and businesses the right to refuse service to same sex couples based on religious beliefs. JEB BUSH AS VOICED HIS SUPPORT FOR SUCH UNCONSTITUTIONAL LEGISLATION.

We have a wacko lawyer in Texas, going around with stickers (as seen by this pic from JT's Blog - stating
[br]

This moronic endeavor is only outclassed (really shouldn't call it that - though it applies in multiple ways) - by the fact that there is a California attorney at Law (Matthew Gregory McLaughin), who is a California attorney facing a BAR hearing, over his proposed Ballot Measure seeking to make it a Law - that you can execute Gays.

As per the NBC News story - it states that;

A group of California legislators has filed a complaint against a lawyer who is proposing a statewide ballot initiative that would allow gays and lesbians to be "put to death by bullets to the head."

[br]
Properly - there's a PETITION calling for this guy to be DisBarred!

Returning to the question of this thread (that begs) - HOW does one justify the right to discriminate?
[br]
  1. Do they have a Gay Testing Machine?
  2. Will the Meter squelch - or does a computer voice go "Warning Warning - Gay - GAY"?
  3. Is there a fine for a Gay stating he isn't - to deceive the proprietor?
  4. Are age limits applied - or expunged: Can they ask for I.D. from customers?
  5. Can a proprietor refuse service to those under 18?
  6. What happens if the Gay Detection Meter (GDM) has a false reading?
  7. If there's one manager who is a Gay and his religion is Gay Only - can they refuse to service Straight's?

[br]

Is the Gay test - simply a person who grabs people by their privates - to see if the grabbed party smiles?
[br]

I'm just sayin........
