.
After allegedly refusing to cooperate with investigators, Congressional leaders are ordering a senior Department of Homeland Security official to answer questions regarding reported retaliation against whistleblowers within the department, according to documents obtained by ABC News.
The subpoena, issued Friday by the House Oversight Committee, directs DHS's Principal Deputy General Counsel Joseph Maher to appear for an interview after allegedly denying their request to comply with the committee's orders to turn over documents and answer questions for nearly two years.
"With most government officials, subpoenas do not even have to be threatened, much less executed," Trey Gowdy (R-South Carolina) wrote in a letter to Maher, which was obtained by ABC News. "Therefore, your uncooperative posture is a telling and unacceptable outlier."
The committee accuses the Transportation Security Administration, an agency under the DHS umbrella, of withholding and redacting documents in an effort to hide senior-level misconduct from investigators. Investigators believe the agency did so at the direction of Maher's office, according to the subpoena.

Whistleblower's Heide Webber considers Halunen Law gig
https://twitter.com/WhistlblowrNews/status/1037752955619794944Heidi Webber blew the whistle on the frauds of Global University; which resulted in her being featured on Judge Alex Ferrer's prime time TV show 'Whistleblower'.
Resultant of the nation exposed case (and the rare success for a whistleblower) Globe U., whistleblower, Heidi Webber, is in discussions with Minnesota law firm of Clayton Halunen, on considering Heidi Webber becoming a part of Halunen's firm.
We think this is a great idea!
Many of us are ecstatic that Judge Alex Ferrer's new TV show - Whistleblower - has been a success. It is an effort in support of truth telling; which is long over due.
We applaud Attorney at Law, Clayton Halunen, considering having Global U., whistleblower, Heidi form a whistleblower advocacy unit, in his firm.
For decades, now, whistleblowers have suffered loss of job, income, career and worse; because, the telling of hard truths, comes and great risk.
Arguably, the risk to reward ration is a suckers bet!
Don't get me wrong, as I'm a lifetime whistleblower, who still believes it must be done, regardless of reward; and Judge Alex Ferret agrees that thoughts of rewards are secondary.
It is deeply encouraging to see the 'Whistleblower' show foster so much national attention, into unchartered waters.
Lawyers and firms who will even bother to listen to a whistleblower, are extremely hard to find.
Hopefully, with such, positive light on whistleblowing, occurring, due to the national exposure of Judge Alex Ferrer's 'Whistleblowerr' show - perhaps - truth telling will be more readily accepted; and more law firms will consider whistleblower advocacy units, as part of their efforts!
