Texas Civil Rights Director Dissects Trooper Abuses of Sandra Bland

By now, most of U.S. are well aware that the Sandra Bland case, does not accordingly fit her last name. Everywhere we turn, there are issues that glare to the realm of the extraordinary. Addressing the Civil Rights Sandra Bland was legally entitled to, is an online item by Rhonda Fanning, of the Texas Standard (A service of the Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin) who has posted a Q&A with Jim Harrington, (who is the actual Director of Texas Civil Rights Project).

Gist of the Q&A, is that - Sandra Bland was abused by an ill trained officer - who violated her Civil Rights.
[br]

[br]
[br]

Officers of Law are Trained to Mitigate - Not Instigate

[br]
At top of the Texas Standard online thread, there's also a recording of the Question & Answer session ("Q&A&quot . Then the story begins with the fact that Sandra Bland was arrested, charged with assaulting a public servant and then became an untimely demise, 3 days later.

Next, the piece details the fact that the dashcam of the Texas State Troopers cruiser, was released, discussed about as being edited; and the corresponding denial of Texas Dept. of Public Safety, of any editing transpiring. Resulting from the banter concerning the arguable glitches (readily apparent in the video), the Texas Dept. of Public Safety yanked down the video from YouTube and has since replaced it with a "corrected" copy.

Meaning that they have now publicly declared to "editing" the video.

Be that as it may, with the Texas Rangers and the FBI now investigating the case (purportedly also seeking separate, totally independent, autopsy's of Sandra Bland). Hence, we mere sideliners shall turn to the many questions that beg.

Was it necessary for Sandra Bland to give anything more than identification, insurance and registration?

Did she have to put out her cigarette?

When the officer commanded her to get out of the car - was such a "lawful" order?

According to Texas Civil Rights Project Director - Jim Harrington - Sandra Bland's Civil Rights were violated, over and over again by a 1 year State Trooper who lost his tempers and abused his powers.

As we are only permitted to post but a section of the article, I'm providing (IMO) the 3 largest questions. They are excerpted separately; but you can see (and also listen) to them in their entirety, at the Texas Standard Story (where the pic above originates) - HERE. Of the 3 items noted, Texas Standard is asking the question and Jim Harrington is answering.

Was it necessary for Sandra Bland to give anything more than identification, insurance and registration?
Ms. Bland says, “I refuse to talk to you other than to identify myself.” Is she right or wrong?

“She’s right. Unfortunately, officers don’t like it when you know the law. In this case, even if you are right, you are still in danger. And that’s what we see unfolding here.”

[br]
Did she have to put out her cigarette?
When the officer commanded her to get out of the car - was such a "lawful" order?
The trooper says, “I am giving you a lawful order.” Now, is the is the lawful order to extinguish the cigarette, or to get out of the car, or neither?

“You can’t tell why. Certainly, telling her to put out the cig was not a lawful order. Just saying ‘Get out of the car,’ in and of itself, without an explanation, is not lawful. And you see him say that throughout the video without ever saying why [or] what’s going on here. It’s clear to me that he’s trying to assert authority that he probably does not have under the law, and he’s escalating the situation because he is upset. [He] doesn’t exercise the training that he needs to be exercising to de-escalate this situation.”

[br]

Other discussions include the issue of him threatening to "light her up" while aiming the taser at her face - was wrong. As was the threats that I'm going to yank you out of here (the car). And, no matter what other may say about Jim Harrington's take on the law (I'm not presently aware of - whether or not - Jim Harrington is a Texas attorney at law), the fact of the matter remains, this inexperienced State Trooper (who obviously was lying to his supervisor/dispatch about the way things went down), did things backwards.

His job was to mitigate (establish peace) - not to instigate (disturb/upset the peace).

And the result of this totally improper, Civil Rights abuse of Sandra Bland
- is the fact that she is now dead!

CNN panel explodes ex-cop says Bland died 'arrogant from - beginning'

Source: Raw Story

CNN contributor and former NYPD detective Harry Houck argued on Tuesday that a Texas woman would not have died in police custody if she had not been “arrogant from the very beginning.”

“An officer does have the choice to bring anyone out of the vehicle when he stops them for his own safety,” Houck told CNN’s Don Lemon on Tuesday. “The whole thing here is that she was very arrogant from the beginning, very dismissive of the officer, alright?”

“She has a right to be irritated,” Hill said. “A lot of us get irritated when we get pulled over. This officer comes to her and says, ‘Is there something wrong? You seem like you have an attitude.’ He’s trying to pick a fight with her.”

“Sometimes police officers act as if you’re not completely kowtowing and deferential, that somehow you’re violating a law,” he continued. “This is a perfect example of how vulnerable black women are in public spaces to law enforcement.”

NOTE: Arresting officer has been placed on desk job - for violating protocol.

If you look at the Texas Department of Public Safety released video, it is clear that the arresting officer escalated the dynamics by prodding Sandra's emotional state. When she answered that she was frustrated for doing a good thing of pulling out of the way of the officer, it is as if she called him a butthole and this enraged him.

Also, I've got a GD thread about the fact that the video is doctored.

News Flash: Sandra Bland Arrest Video is Doctored!

As is readily apparent by the video, released by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Sandra Bland was pulled over, when she witnessed a cop coming up behind here, to allow him to pass by. Instead, he pulled her over for failure to put on her turn signal and was going to give her a "warning" ticket - until she refused to put out her cigarette.

A YouTube video, at time-stamp 25:01 minutes through to 27:00 minutes mark - is visibly doctored!
[br]

[br]

[br]

Officer Claimed Kick Isn't on Video

[br]
Significance about the video (and others now emerging - that should be questioned), is the fact that the (purported) kick happened at a time the officer dragged Sandra Bland - off camera. From what any listener can gather, she is screaming about the pain the officer is causing her and his touching her. His subsequent remarks to supervisors, is far from being totally candid about what actually happened. He makes it sound as if she was out of control, from the outset; which is extremely bogus.
[br]

The Officer escalated the whole affair, when he asked her to put out her cigarette!

[br]
Plain to see, the officer was looking to start something, hinting that Sandra appeared nervous. When he asked her for details, she told him that she pulled over, to allow him to pass and getting a ticket for such was nerve wracking. Then he asked her to put out her cigarette, she complained it was inside her car and the officer blew everything out of control.

Additionally, the apparent looping/editing of the video is during his story telling to superiors and, though others may argue the video loops, while the conversation remains steady - I'm not convinced this is true.

IMO the video is looped (doctored) so that the officer can change his story telling and/or hide something said!

[br]
If They Can Edit Any - They Can Edit All
[br]

Finally, there's another video that is now available for the public. A new video has emerged of the authorities and ambulance crew purportedly removing Sandra Bland from the holding cell.

First of all, the officer that looks into the camera and waves his arms, is an absolute enigma. Secondly (now that we have clear evidence films are being doctored) how do we know that this wasn't staged.

Where is the tape of the actual discovery of Sandra Bland?

Why is there now contradicting reports of hanging - that is being switched to suffocated by plastic bag?

AND

What about the video for the hours from her arrest - to the point of the discovery of the incident?
[br]

Something smells very rotten here!

SEC Pays Out $3 Million to Mystery Whistleblower from Mystery Party

We don't know which is worse, our having cases the Securities and Exchange Commission simply refuses to address, even when there are confessions to lies under oath, in the public docket record; and/or the fact that the SEC "says" it paid $3 Million to a redacted name whistleblower and punished a redacted offender to exact $3 million.

Though the Press Release of SEC claims to have paid out $3 million (see the filing = HERE). By the SEC filing, redacting the name of the whistleblower (for the party's purported protection - {you know, cause it is smarter to not name the person, for if harm comes to that person, who the hell would know how or why}). And there's no mention of who the party was - that did the wrong - either.

So, in the par for the course SEC, one has to ask - Did the SEC just pay friends/family $3 million to bury an SEC case?

I'm just sayin..............
[br]

Among the many critics of the "Selective Enforcement Commission", we have noteworthy parties such as Elizabeth Warren, who publicly out cried against SEC Commissioner Mary Jo White, as Senator Warren labeled Mary Jo as an incompetent. (see moi's previous thread "Elizabeth Warren rips SEC chief: ‘disappointing’ (?Lying to a Senator?)"

Here's a couple of on-point question by Senator Warren, in 2014, on failure to prosecute and settlements by companies.

But NO one ever personally gets indicated and/or goes to jail....

[br]
Prior to this, the SEC was forced to settle with one of their own. SEC OIG official, David Weber, felt his life was being threatened because he was investigating senior officials at the SEC for having relations with specific targets and worse.

Fortunately, though David Weber was fired for doing his works, he actually did win his lawsuit against the SEC;
but America lost one of the true few patriotic public servants of David Weber.

See the previous thread, with links to Matt Taibbi's take on the issue (HERE).

Videos of Gardena police shooting of unarmed men are made public

Source: Los Angeles Times

Videos that the city of Gardena fought to keep secret show police officers fatally shooting a man who appeared confused at their orders and did not appear to pose an immediate threat. Police wounded a second man.

A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the release of the videos, saying the public had an interest in seeing the recordings after the city settled a lawsuit over the shooting for $4.7 million.

Gardena immediately sought an order from the appellate court to stop the district court from enforcing its order and releasing the videos. A judge with the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals granted the request. By then, The Times had obtained the videos from the district court and posted them on YouTube and on its website.

I'm surprised this Los Angeles Federal District Court Judge (His Honor Stephen V. Wilson) decided to release the video in this case, as His Honor is established as the party who covered up our litigation against Mitt Romney.

The video clearly shows that it's just kids, one on a bike and there's confusion in the orders.
(Seems as if one officer was worried there was a gun in the hat - and shot the kid to death).

Wacko Judge Gorcyca Jails Kids Who Refused Seeing Abusive Father

You need only read the transcript (HERE), of this - Completely Out of Her Mind - wacko nincompoop family court judge (the {dis}Honorable Lisa O. Corcyca), who - inexplicably and intolerably - just incarcerated 3 young kids (ages 9-14), for contempt of court.

When the children refused to have lunch with their father - who they witnessed beating up their mom!

Judge had previously Ordered the kids meet with their father; but they refused - BECAUSE of the abuse they saw with their own eyes, of their dad beating up their mother. When Her Haughtiness (pic immediately below, provided by Detroit Free Press - HERE) ordered the 14 year old arrested and the mother crying, she turned to the younger kids and said - "Will you now visit with your father" and the 10 year old said NO - he would go to jail also.
[br]

[br]

Judge jails kids for refusing lunch with dad

[br]

Judge abused the kids intentionally, as is remarked by the embarrassment to the court - as noted;

The judge told the mother she could not visit her children this summer, according to a court transcript of the hearing.

Referring to the contempt orders and sending the trio of kids to summer behind institutional walls, Gorcyca told the older sibling: "I wanted to do this because of your horrific behavior a long time ago and your dad begged me not to. ... One day you are going to realize what's going on in this case and you're going to apologize to your dad."

The two boys and their sister each had a court-appointed lawyer at the hearing, according to records. But the attorneys said the children refused to cooperate and, in some cases, wouldn't talk to their lawyers. The attorneys for the children did not object to Gorcyca's order.

The 14 year old tried to apologize to the court; but refused to apologize for giving his dad the cold shoulder.

As noted in the Transcript of the hearing (HERE); the14 year old said he apologizes for - not knowing the rules - but that he would not apologize for not seeing his dad, who he saw beat up his mother.

[br]
Judge Should be Removed from the Bench

If, as the court alleges, it is the mother's fault, then why does she dare to incarcerate the children? How can any woman, let alone a mother, be so callous and plain stupid? Does she have ANY idea what this will do to the children?

Does she really care?

It sounds to moi, as if the judge is in love with the father (an international business man - highly educated). Absurd as the premise might be, this lord tyrannus psorais wrecx - acts as if it is children she wants to punish severely.

It all seems So - D A M - Wrong!

She could have ordered counseling, supervised visits and/or any other of 1000 things. This man must be a real head case, to push for this so much - that the kids wind up being abused in this manner. When I divorced my wife, I gave her everything and then some; and was ecstatic when she wanted to give me the kids and live her own life. (though she still manage to wreck theirs in many ways).

Bush dines with popular Republican counselor: Romney

Source: USA Today: On Politics

It seems like Mitt Romney has become the Republican Party’s most popular member, at least among the presidential candidates.

Jeb Bush had lunch Monday with Romney, following a holiday weekend in which the 2012 GOP presidential nominee hosted Chris Christie and Marco Rubio at his home in New Hampshire.

The Romney lunch took place at the Bush family compound in Kennebunkport, Maine, and included former president George H.W. Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush.

PUHlleeaassee! Inherent Romney Honesty: Stooges Sleeping Over At Mitt's

Don't ya love it, when a clan comes together. No matter how hard we try, as Progressives, to put an end to Mitt (the Pits) Romney, he never fails to keep himself in the news (and easy thing to do when you own iHeart media - that owns RushLameBlah, Ham'ity and B'yuk, as part of your 800 radio stations).

Just this past week, the Romney's had a sleep over with Marc Rubio and Chris Christie; and it is also announced that Jeb and Mitt are meeting (again) real soon. In the pic below (provide by National Memo item "Rubio and Christie Hang Out with Romney&quot , with the 3 of them looking like the 3 Stooges (if we could just convince Rubio to stick his finger in a socket - and get his hair to friz) - there's an weird thing going on.

Meanwhile, over at "The HILL", journo Bernie Quigley (if you really wish to call such brown nosing journalism) states in his pundits blog titled "The Romney half-century" - that Romney's integrity is inherent.

REALLY! --

Puhlleeaassee

Romney's only sense of integrity, is how much Bain Capital can steal, to enterprisingly make Mitt's empire larger.

[br]

Back at the Romney $10 Million Dollar Resort Ranch

[br]
According to National Memo, Mitt, Rubio and Christie just celebrated the 4th of July and stayed away from endorsements. The question should be = who is Romney going to endore (the way the 1/2 Century article ends - it infers Mitt Romney).

As iterated by National Memo;

Romney, who owns a $10 million vacation home in Wolfeboro—a town that calls itself “America’s oldest summer resort”—told CNN that he didn’t give either of the candidates advice, and stuck to universal topics: family, vacation, life, sports.

The article also banters on about speculation that Rubio and Christie stayed distant from each other. How Rubio felt overwhelmed by Christie supporters and that Christie Tweeted of the gathering (but actually misTwit'd to a non-existent Rubio account).
[br]
[br]

[br]
Mitt Romney is GOP Lord
[br]

As part of The Hill pundit remarks (provider of the above pic of Mitt) it states that

Romney, the 2012 Republican nominee, has become a commanding voice of moral leadership

These repetitive remarks on Mitt's honesty and morals are dang near laughable. But you need not take my word for it (as most federal judges won't allow you to see the evidence in court) - let's just take a look at what a former Mitt Romney associate - has to say on the matter of Mitt's integrity.

We are blessed with facts - extensive - on why you can't trust Mitt. We are also gifted many court documents and other issues (such as Mitt and son Tagg Romney as part of Solamere - that was involved in the Stanford frauds). Then there's the issues of Romney destroying his Olympic record trail and his team buying up his Governor computer hard drives and crushing all the data {and emails} therein.

Along that lines, we have the VICE article of "Rocky Anderson Knows Mitt and thinks he has no integrity". In that article, Rocky describes himself as a person who once believed in Romney, during the Olympics in Utah, having worked side by side as the Mayor of Salt Lake City in Utah.

Rocky classifies Mitt as a 'slimeball'....

Will we ever see the end of Mitt - the Pits - Romney? How high does the hubris of this guy go (after all, he said he had a "vision" of riding a white horse, into the White House)? Will justice ever come and take a look at the true Mitt Romney (moi doubts it).

There are other articles out there touting how Romney is going to rule the party. Outside of the Koch brothers, who have already pledged $800 + Millions to attempt to influence the 2016 Presidential elections - there's (obviously) no one more influential (and sought after for his donors list) - than Mitt.

As remarked by 'The HILL' Mr. Quigley - Mitt might still be seeking to be POTUS - as is concluded in 1/2 Century;

The "Kennedy half-century" is now passing.
President Obama might be figuratively seen as the "last Kennedy."

We face a new half-century now rising. It could be Mitt Romney's.

[br]

So, the question is, what do you all think? Is Mitt a man of integrity - or a slime ball (as Rocky said)? Will he stay as leader of the Republican party? Should we be worried about what is really going on? Or are the 3 Repug Stooges simply doomed to fail (and blessed they actually stay a distance away from the likes of Trump?

One thing for sure, flip flop Mitt has no idea what integrity is - as most oligarchs believe they are above the law!

I'm just sayin......

GSachs Ilk Sinister Culprits: Previously Greece Forgave Germany's Debt

Just to set the record straight, Germany owed everyone after WWII - and was about to become bankrupt - when Greece and other countries agreed to forgive debts. This gesture of prudence, according to Associated Press (here), sparked what was then known as the Germany economic miracle.

Shouldn't it be Goldman Sachs and its ilk, who are on trial for Greece's saga?

AP Photo: In this Feb. 27, 1953 file photo, the German Debts Agreement is signed in London.

[br]
The case for Greece: when it forgave Germany's debt
[br]
As reported by API

LONDON (AP) — Forgiving debt, if done right, can get an economy back on its feet.

The International Monetary Fund certainly thinks so, according to a new report in which it argues Greece should get help.

But Germany, another major creditor to Greece, is resisting, even though it knows better than most what debt relief can achieve. After the hell of World War II, the Federal Republic of Germany — commonly known as West Germany — got massive help with its debt from former foes.

------

The 1953 agreement, in which Greece and about 20 other countries effectively wrote off a large chunk of Germany's loans and restructured the rest, is a landmark case that shows how effective debt relief can be. It helped spark what became known as the German economic miracle.

Greece – What You are not Being Told by the Media
[br]

According to mainstream media, the current economic crisis in Greece is due to the government spending too much money on its people that it went broke.

This claim however, is a lie.

It was the banks that wrecked the country so oligarchs and international corporations could benefit.

Published: July 5, 2015 | Authors: Chris Kanthan | NationofChange | Op-Ed

According to the Nation of Change story (where the immediate pic above is from) the Bailouts of the Too Big to Fail banks also happened in Europe. Those banks, like Goldman Sachs, get to "bust out" economies, for a living.

As noted by the Nation of Change story "Greece – What You are not Being Told by the Media"

Every single mainstream media has the following narrative for the economic crisis in Greece: the government spent too much money and went broke; the generous banks gave them money, but Greece still can’t pay the bills because it mismanaged the money that was given. It sounds quite reasonable, right?

Except that it is a big fat lie … not only about Greece, but about other European countries such as Spain, Portugal, Italy and Ireland who are all experiencing various degrees of austerity. It was also the same big, fat lie that was used by banks and corporations to exploit many Latin American, Asian and African countries for many decades.

Greece did not fail on its own. It was made to fail.

[br]
[br]

An international investigation should occur, into the global dominance of Too Big to Fail banks such as Goldman Sachs and others, who cause the mayhem, make extensive profits, gobble up the remains for cheap and even get the citizens to "Bail" them out - afterwards. (In Greece it is reported that the Bailout cost over $100 Billion Euros - while state assets such as water rights and other things - were taken for cheap).

and stop this insanity of worshiping big banks?

Refugee Doaa Heart-wrenching Saga: A Survivors Tale From Death Boats

Melissa Fleming, a United Nations Refugee Agency ( UNHCR ) journalist, brings us a heart-wrenching tale (here) of Syrian refugee Doaa, who watched over 100 people, including her boyfriend and mothers of children left behind, die in their journey across the Mediterranean, seeking new life.

According to Melissa, of all the tales she tells and knows of, Doaa's saga keeps her awake at nights. It most certainly brings this grown man to weep, as my heart groans over the fact that people suffer this way, due to our country and others, desires for war.

Before you watch the video below - please get your tissues ready - Doaa's strength and perseverance is sorrowfully amazing.

[br]
[br]

The Death Boats: A Survivor’s Tale
The sea may have taken the love of her life,
but Doaa still found the strength to save a young child.

DOAA'S STORY

Every day, I listen to stories of people fleeing for their lives, across dangerous borders and unfriendly seas to reach safety. The story of a young woman, Doaa, is so troubling it still keeps me awake at night.

She is a Syrian refugee, 19 years old, an aspiring student who was forced by the war to live a grinding existence with her family in exile. Last month, I told her story to a TED audience in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Without a work permit in Egypt, Doaa struggled through day shifts for low wages. As the months passed, she was getting more and more scared. One day, a motorcycle gang tried to kidnap her on the street. The war in Syria that drove her family away was in its fourth year. And the people who once welcomed them in Egypt had become weary of them.

So Bassem paid his life savings to smugglers, US $2,500 each, to get them onto an old fishing boat. It was so packed with people that Doaa’s knees were bent to her chest.
After two days at sea she started to get worried, and on the third day she told Bassem: “We will never reach the shore. We will all sink.”

On day four another boat approached the vessel. It was rusty and when the passengers were ordered to get on, they refused. The smugglers left angrily, and then returned to ram a hole in the side of the hull. “Let the fish eat your flesh,” they shouted, and then they laughed. Within minutes, the boat capsized and sank, with 300 people trapped below deck.

“The sea went black,” said Doaa. “I heard people screaming, and water crashing. I felt like I was going to drown.” She watched the propeller cut a child to pieces. Miraculously, Bassem found a water ring. He held Doaa’s hand and treaded water. There were corpses everywhere. The 100 survivors came together in small groups and prayed for rescue.

[br]
Terribly, over 100 people drowned - including Doaa's love Bassem

As her love of life, the man who gave her hope of a better way, apologized and died from being too tired, Doaa received from two mothers, who also drowned, their children. Doaa managed to keep and herself alive, for days, without food and water. Then a merchant ship, amazed to see a woman with children floating in the sea, rescued Doaa and the 2 children; but one child passed away - in the medical room.

Doaa hopes to become an activist, maybe even an attorney, to fight injustice.
