David Vitter - Interview with Wendy Ellis, October 13, 2015 (video/story at link)

Could this finally be the end of Vitter's career?
I was stunned when he received a standing ovation upon his return to the Senate, but this could be the end.

Abortion Rights Group Says Clinic Vandalism Should Be Investigated As Domestic Terrorism (petition)

Here's a link to the petition, if you'd like to 'cut to the chase'.
http://actnow.prochoiceamerica.org/sign/151006_clinicviolence/?utm_source=pr#.ViJbjhC-lHx

And here's the article-
http://thinkprogress.org/health/2015/10/17/3713499/abortion-clinic-vandalism-naral/

Over the past several months, as the national conversation about abortion has been dominated by accusations that Planned Parenthood is selling “aborted baby parts,” thanks to a series of videos released by anti-choice activists, clinic employees have become concerned that the heated rhetoric is translating into action.

Health centers in California, Washington, Louisiana, and Illinois have all been subject to acts of vandalism over the past three months. The clinics in California and Washington experienced very similar arson attempts. The Southern Poverty Law Center has been keeping its eye on the incidences, which the group describe as potential “terroristic attacks.”

--snip--

“Where is the outrage?” NARAL head Ilyse Hogue said in a statement in response to the Media Matters report on Friday. “The media need to report these incidents as what they are: domestic terrorism. By staying silent or failing to discuss this new wave of attacks on health clinics in the context of anti-abortion extremism, the media is giving extremists the cover to regressively and violently attack women, their access to health care, and the medical professionals who provide it.”

Hogue noted that, just six years ago, Kansas abortion doctor Dr. George Tiller was gunned down in his church by anti-choice extremists “against a backdrop of tolerance for these radical views.”

Argentina: The Country That Monsanto Poisoned

>Trigger alert for images at linked article<

http://anonhq.com/argentina-the-country-that-monsanto-poisoned/

Most provinces in Argentina forbid spraying pesticides and other agrochemicals next to homes and schools, with bans ranging in distance from 50 meters to as much as several kilometers from populated areas. The Associated Press found many cases of soybeans planted only a few feet from homes and schools, and of chemicals mixed and loaded onto tractors inside residential neighborhoods. In the last 20 years, agrochemical spraying has increased eightfold in Argentina- from 9 million gallons in 1990 to 84 million gallons today. Glyphosate, the key ingredient in Monsanto’s Round Up products, is used roughly eight to ten times more per acre than in the United States.

-snip-

In response to soaring complaints, President Cristina Fernandez ordered a commission in 2009 to study the impact of agrochemical spraying on human health. Its initial report called for “systematic controls over concentrations of herbicides and their compounds … such as exhaustive laboratory and field studies involving formulations containing glyphosate as well as its interactions with other agrochemicals as they are actually used in our country.”

But the commission hasn’t met since 2010, the auditor general found.

-snip-

Molecular biologist Dr. Andres Carrasco at the University of Buenos Aires says the burden from the chemical cocktails is worrisome, but even glyphosate alone could spell trouble for human health. He found that injecting a very low dose of glyphosate into embryos can change levels of retinoic acid, causing the same sort of spinal defects in frogs and chickens that doctors increasingly are registering in communities where farm chemicals are ubiquitous.

This acid, a form of vitamin A, is fundamental for keeping cancers in check and triggering genetic expression, the process by which embryonic cells develop into organs and limbs.

“If it’s possible to reproduce this in a laboratory, surely what is happening in the field is much worse,” Carrasco said. “And if it’s much worse, and we suspect that it is, what we have to do is put this under a magnifying glass.”

Our lovely kitteh Chloe has crossed the rainbow bridge.

She was just 11 years old and passed abruptly after suffering a blood clot that caused paralysis in her back legs.

We adopted her from a local shelter at age 3 as a 4-paw delcawed cat that was kept in a 4 square foot cage, as other cats at the shelter were aggressive and she was at a disadvantage with no claws. She was a bit overweight, very sweet, and took an immediate liking to our son. She would follow him all around the house and always seemed to be within a few feet of him. She lived a plush life and was loved.

Her nickname was "Adventure Kitty" as she ventured into places in our home where none of our previous cats had ever been. Her most uncanny feature was her expressiveness; she'd enter the room, make and maintain eye contact with you while chatting up a storm.

Wisconsin Prepares to Hand Half-Million in Taxpayer Funds to Koch-Tied GOP Lobby Shop

WTF? These criminals know no bounds.

A small GOP lobby shop tied to the Tea Party and David Koch's Americans for Prosperity, and which was active in the state's recent recall elections, was awarded $500,000 in taxpayer dollars in what some are calling a backdoor, sweetheart deal cooked up by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) State Chair, outgoing Assembly Majority Leader Scott Suder.

The United Sportsmen of Wisconsin Foundation was the only applicant for a newly-created grant to promote hunting, fishing, and trapping in the state, despite the organization having no record in outdoors training. The grant was slipped into the budget bill by Suder and barely advertised, and other outdoors groups with more experience in the area were largely excluded. Suder has ties to United Sportsmen, and announced last week he would be leaving the Assembly for a higher-paying job in the Walker administration.

--snip--

"This last minute, half million dollar raid on the public treasury ought to be rescinded immediately," says Jay Heck of Common Cause Wisconsin. "To award this huge chunk of scarce, taxpayer money to a new group with no track record or experience in hunting, trapping and fishing and with obvious partisan, special-interest ties appears, at the very least to be a quid pro quo conflict of interest."
