Fort Collins council backs ban on fracking

In the face of a flood of public support, the Fort Collins City Council on Tuesday took a step toward banning fracking within city limits.

The council voted 5-2 to give initial approval to an ordinance that would prohibit all gas and oil exploration activity in the city including hydraulic fracturing, a commonly used technique to increase oil and gas production from wells.

The council also passed a resolution stating its support for the city of Longmont in its legal fight with the state over its efforts to regulate gas and oil activity within its city limits. The state through the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission has authority over the industry. .......

"Florida, Florida, Florida"

An election hoax, a fraudulent presidency, a false war; the destruction of our national reputation, the devastation of a people who had done us no harm, the theft of uncountable trillions of dollars; the cold, calculated and cynical squandering of loyalty and devotion to country that led to the utterly needless deaths of over 4000 members of our armed services, the utterly needless maiming of tens of thousands more; the ravaging of our ability to trust our processes as our treasure is plundered to pay for the lies the lies the lies --

As I watched Hubris I wondered if Sandra Day O'Connor was watching. . .

Four Democratic Gun Safety Bills Win Final House Passage (Colorado)

HB13-1229, closing the loophole on background checks for firearms purchasers, passed 36-29. HB13-1228, ending the taxpayer subsidy for gun buyers’ background checks, passed 33-32. HB13-1224, limiting the sale, purchase or transfer of firearms magazines that can hold more than 15 bullets or eight shotgun shells, passed the House 34-31. HB13-1226, prohibiting concealed carry in buildings on Colorado’s public colleges and universities, passed 34-31.

The package now moves to the state Senate. Not a single House Republican voted for any of the bills, which surveys show are supported by solid majorities of Colorado voters. [Pols emphasis]

“We can no longer walk around in our society with these blinders on as if nothing is happening,” Rep. Rhonda Fields (D-Aurora) told the House. Rep. Fields lost a son to gun violence and her district includes the Aurora theater where 12 were killed and 58 injured last July.

Oy

So I'm stuck at home on a Sunday afternoon, for a while thoroughly enjoying the Cspan coverage of the climate rally. When that ended I wandered over to facebook where one of the guys started posting gun stuff. It's weird, on virtually every other topic he's informed and well able to carry on coherent conversation. But when it comes to guns he has this whole Jekyll and Hyde thing going.

Anyway, being either bored or just plain stupid I replied to his post, just asked him to explain one of his points. After a couple back-and-forths he responded with a reply about "the Gestapo kicking in my door", and I replied with "And Godwin has arrived."

His response is below, cut and pasted from the post:

"Godwins law doesnt apply when its true."

.........sigh.............

We have ways of dealing with that...

Okay, I just gave myself a small case of the squicks. I've been dealing with a little health issue, some kind of digestive blockage. Doing the gamut of testing - bloodwork, X-rays, CTscans, next is scope of some kind. Anyway, I was just adding the next appointment to my desk calendar and the thought came, What if that scope catches a picture of a little tiny Mitch McConnell doing his obstruction thing?

eeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww.................
