Something for our time, from J.R.R. Tolkien.

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” J.R.R. Tolkien The Fellowship of the Ring

I'm pretty sure someone has shared this already, but it really speaks to me.

Fire wipes out Big Basin State Park's historic buildings.

This link goes to the story in SFGate. On my cell, so I hope it works.

Edit: not sure of the status of the redwood groves. Edited thread title to be more specific.

KGO 810 AM is currently discussing the Napa/Solano county fires, and interviewing evacuees.

Mark Thompson Show.

Evacuating some neighborhoods in Vacaville.

KGO just listed the acreages burning in Napa County. I was trying to tally the several fires of the complex as they called them out, and it's like +/- 40,000 acres with ZERO containment. Wind is also picking up around here today.

Sorry, I don't have any links. I'm just reporting what KGO is currently discussing. If I have misheard something, or the info is inaccurate, please correct me.

Just hit 109* in Fairfield.

We're on the edge of the Bay Area, but our temps tend more toward Central Valley temps.

94* in San Francisco.

Damn. It's 106* over here in Fairfield (projected 108* by late afternoon) but 94* in The City....damn.
