REMINDER: Submissions for the May photo contest will close at 5:00pm PT on the 22nd. (Friday)

We have 17 great submissions as I write this. If we haven't received the full 30 submissions by tomorrow evening, the 20th (and it looks unlikely that we will) then I will open the thread to a second submission at that time.

If you haven't yet entered but want to, now is the time!

Hey everyone! The DU Photo Group is holding a contest, and you are invited to participate!

The theme is: "Things that make me happy." It can be anything that makes you happy.

The submission thread for entries (including a link to the rules) is here: https://democraticunderground.com/103675533

All skill levels are invited to participate. AND REMEMBER: You don't have to host a contest if you win. The Photo Group now has a list of photogs who are assigned to the various contests so YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THAT! Just have fun and enter a photo.

There are 30 spaces allotted, and we currently have 15 slots remaining open.

See ya there!

Please post comments or questions (and any threats aimed at the host) in this thread.

Fresh Air Archive

I don’t know how many of you may already know this but Fresh Air has an Archive of 40 years of interviews. And it’s searchable.

https://freshairarchive.org/

It can provide a nice break during these times.

Just a reminder to all of DU.

The Photo Group will begin accepting photos for the May contest on the 15th. The theme is:

“Things that make me smile.”

All DUers, of any skill level are invited to participate. If you would like to participate but aren’t sure how to post or resize a photo, just ask.🙂

And remember: the winner DOES NOT have to host the next contest. The group already has hosts for future contests. If you win you will have the honor of choosing the theme for the July contest (June is reserved for the spring contest).

Let me just add: I hope all of you on DU are making it through these times with spirits intact. We will get through this, and we will win in November!

Best regards to you all.

I hope that all of you are finding a way to use photography to somehow lighten the mood during these times.

Have fun with the 📸

Please forgive my shouting...

Talitha won the April contest and has set the theme for the May contest: "'Things That Make Me Smile'

Will close the competition for entries on 22nd May at 7:00pm PT.
First round of voting 22nd May for 3 days
Final round of voting 26th May for 3 days
Winner announced 29th May and they will decide the July theme (June is reserved for the Spring contest)

REMEMBER: the winner DOES NOT have to host a contest.

Please keep your entry no larger than 1024 pixels in its longest dimension and under 675K in file size. If you need help posting a photograph or with image sizing, just ask.

Please remember that the Submission thread will be for Photos Only. A separate thread will be started for comments.

I will see you all on the 15th of May; or, as Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) said in Saving Private Ryan: "I will see you on the beach!"
