monmouth
monmouth's JournalI would be outraged if Laura Bush had been threatened by a DC cop, and I mean that.
This verbal threat concerning Mrs. Obama is being treated far too cavalierly for my taste. This guy needs to be fired right now, pension or whatever benefits he had should be gone. Why is there not more outrage about this? I'm thinking it's time for some form of media blitz to get people off their a$$es and get moving somehow. You know the President has to be furious about this, is there any tv coverage? My tv is off until Martin..
Will this Romney possible felony matter be discussed on the Sunday Morning chat shows? It
would be so interesting to listen to the repubs defending/criticising, etc. It would also indicate whether this story really has legs. My fear of course is that the subject will not even be mentioned. If that is the case we really need to e-mail blitz the media for their lack of news coverage. My only hope would be that HBOs marvelous new show will cover it in an upcoming episode.
Today is Friday, the 13th. I understand Mr. Romney is taking a "vacation day." Good idea....n/t
Miami-Dade School Board members decry Michelle Obama campaign stop at local school

But the spot for the political event Barbara Goleman Senior High in Miami Lakes has some Republican members of the School Board seeing red.
Miami-Dade School Board member Renier Diaz de la Portilla has called for the event to be cancelled and board member Carlos Curbelo has asked the board attorney to reconsider his opinion that the event meets legal muster. While School Board seats are nonpartisan, Diaz de la Portilla is running for state House as a Republican and Curbelo has worked as a Republican strategist.
Allowing the first lady of the United States to use one of our schools explicitly to benefit the presidents reelection campaign is inappropriate and sends the wrong message to our students, employees, and to taxpayers even if the presidents campaign is willing to pay for all costs resulting from the event, Curbelo wrote in the letter to School Board attorney Walter Harvey.
Curbelo told The Miami Herald on Monday: Theres a difference between official visits to schools by elected leaders and events that are for the sole purpose of advancing the interests of a political campaign.

I just went to MSNBC's home page and clicked on MJ to see the Gibbs part of the show.
Guess what? Unless I'm screwing up somehow, it automatically skips to the next video and the Gibbs tape is not being shown. Senor had such a poor showing I guess they don't want it to be shown. Again, perhaps it was me but the other tapes work fine. www.msnbc.com and then click on Morning Joe at the top.

Romney's Increases when he became Governor of MA
Interesting info I just picked up..
Among Romney's "fee increases" as Gov:
Marriage licenses went from $4 to $50
Driving permits from $15 to $30
Deed-recording fees from $25 to $100
Mortgage-recording fees from $36 to $158
Certificate of Blindness $10 fee
Romney also billed blind people $15 each for discount-travel ID cards.
In MA, "Romney increased taxes by $309 million, mainly on corporations. These tax hikes, described by Romney apologists as loophole closures, totaled $128 million in 2003, $95.5 in 2004, and $85 million in 2005. That final year, Romney proposed $170 million in higher business taxes, the Boston Globe reports. However, the Bay State's liberal, Democratic legislature balked and only approved an $85 million increase."

This is precious..Mitt Romney has already begun quietly prepping for his high-stakes debate
WASHINGTON Its 13 weeks away, but Mitt Romney has already begun quietly prepping for his high-stakes inaugural debate with Barack Obama.
Romney sources told the Daily News that during a three-day retreat he hosted late last month for big-time Republican contributors and party mandarins at Park City, Utah, the candidate also found time to squeeze in the first two rounds of what staffers call debate prep.
Romney convened six to eight campaign aides around a conference table at the elegant Chateaux at Silver Lake. They sorted through a variety of topics sure to come up in the three Presidential debates, like the state of the economy and the war in Afghanistan, and kicked around the best test responses to questions they expect Obama and debate moderators will toss at the ex-Massachusetts governor.
More such encounters are expected over the summer, but what one source called podium practices with an Obama surrogate won't happen for awhile mainly because Romney doesnt care for them all that much.
