WASHINGTON—Former WellCare chief executive officer Todd S. Farha, 45, of Tampa, Florida, was sentenced today in the Middle District of Florida to serve 36 months in prison for defrauding the Florida Medicaid program.

Acting Assistant Attorney General David A. O’Neil of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division and United States Attorney A. Lee Bentley, III of the Middle District of Florida made the announcement after Farha was sentenced by U.S. District Judge James S. Moody Jr.

Farha was convicted by a federal jury in the Middle District of Florida on June 10, 2013, of two counts of health care fraud.

According to court records and evidence at trial, Farha and others orchestrated a scheme to defraud the Florida Medicaid program from the summer of 2003 through the fall of 2007 by making fraudulent statements relating to expenditures for behavioral health care services.

WellCare operates health maintenance organizations (HMOs) in several states providing services through government-sponsored health care benefit programs like Medicaid. Two WellCare HMOs operating in Florida, StayWell and Healthease, contracted with the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), the Florida agency that administers the Medicaid program, to provide Florida Medicaid program recipients with an array of services, including behavioral health services.

Quandary

I went out with a few of my neighbors yesterday- four of us went to a brewery and had a really good time. We have gone out in the past and my wife and I have gone over there houses. They are fun to be with for the most part but after a few drinks some ugly parts of their personalities begin to seep out. All of them and their wives are republicans. Each of them has a real low opinion of black people- I do not share their views and have no problem speaking my mind with the standard republican drivel. I have no problem holding my own when it comes to the talking points but am truly not sure what to do about the racism.

I am struggling- my wife and I do not have many friends mostly due to our focus on our three kids ages 14 and twin 9 year olds. Since the kids are getting older we have found more time to go out.

Do we drop them as friends? Do we keep them as friends and ignore the comments? Do we keep them as friends and speak our minds and potentially alienate ourselves and lose them as friends?

This is very awkward-

Any suggestions?

Okay, hear me out...

I just watched Governor Christy on Rachael Maddow and watched some real good acting. Why do I think that? Follow me here... Remember when President Obama pretended like he wanted to invade Syria- yeah, I said pretend. Well, I knew that wasn't the president that I voted for- I knew there was some other dynamic going on. My thought at the time was that he was acting - and it worked- he convinced everyone that he was serious and he was successful.
Now, follow me here. Gov. Christy- or whoever that guy was that I watched in Rachel. Totally out of character- he is usually in command- actually he is a real ass- a natural bully. But today, he was a passive, gentle, victim- I dare say.

It is my opinion that Gov. Christy has learned a lot - or the folks that manage him have. They are taking a page right from Obama and manipulating his audience to attempt to get himself out of this pending catastrophic political problem.
