I swear to god, Lester, not one. fracking. question. about. e-mails.

Please, don't force EarlG to skewer you the way he did Matt Lauer!

At the moment, the conventional wisdom seems to be that you do actually have some journalistic integrity. But, I swear to god, Lester, if you start asking about Hillary's emails...there better not be any heavy objects near me and my TV. I swear to god!

Side note: Lester Holt and Matt Lauer are both registered Republicans. Ironically, the only registered Democrat who is hosting one of the debates, is the Fox Snooze guy, Chris Wallace.

Maker of Deadly Fentanyl Kicks in Half a Million to Defeat Pot Legalization in Arizona

Maker of Deadly Fentanyl Kicks in Half a Million to Defeat Pot Legalization in Arizona

By Phillip Smith / AlterNet September 9, 2016

Marijuana legalization advocates have long argued that pharmaceutical companies, which could lose out if marijuana is legally available, are some of the staunchest supporters of pot prohibition, and now an Arizona company is making their case for them.

According to campaign finance reports posted online by the Arizona secretary of state's office, fentanyl manufacturer Insys Therapuetics has donated $500,000 to foes of the Prop 205 marijuana legalization initiative.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid several dozen times more potent than heroin. It has been linked to numerous opioid overdose deaths across the country, especially when mixed with heroin. Marijuana, on the other hand, has no reported overdose deaths, ever.

Insys isn't just any pharmaceutical company. Its sole product is Subsys, a sublingual fentanyl spray, and the company has shown that it's willing to bend the rules to sell that product. In the past month alone, two former company employees pleaded not guilty to federal charges related to an alleged kickback scheme to get doctors to prescribe Subsys, and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan filed a lawsuit against the company charging that Insys hawked the drug to doctors for off-label prescribing.

Department Of Justice Complaint Filed Against Trump And Pam Bondi In Bribery Scandal

http://www.politicususa.com/2016/09/07/department-justice-complaint-filed-trump-pam-bondi-bribery-scandal.html

A complaint has been filed with the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division against Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump over allegations that Trump bribed Bondi to get her drop an investigation into Trump University.

<...>

The complaint filed by the Democratic Coalition Against Trump asks for a DOJ investigation into Trump and Bondi, “The complaint read: “We believe that Pam Bondi, Florida Attorney General, and Donald Trump have violated federal voting laws including but not limited to bribery across state lines by way of a $25,000 campaign contribution from Trump to Bondi during her 2013 election by way of the Trump Foundation in return for AG Bondi dropping an investigation into Trump University. We ask the DOJ to investigate this matter and appreciate their rapid response. Thank you.”

Calls for a criminal probe are growing on both the left and the right. Conservative columnist Jennifer Rubin of The Washington Post asked why Trump wasn’t already under investigation for bribery.

Rubin wrote, “One cannot miss the giant red flag. Why is a charity giving money to aid a pol with whom the foundation’s head has pending legal business? Recall that after the gift was received an official act occurred, the very act Trump had been seeking, namely the decision not to proceed with the case against Trump University. Right there you have a prima facie case of bribery– a payment (an illegal one at that) and a quid pro quo.”

What Trump and Bondi did was about a clear a case of bribing a public official as it gets. Trump should have already been under investigation for bribery, and his status as one of the two people who could be elected as the next US president makes it vital for the FBI or the Department of Justice to put potential concerns about partisan howls aside and investigate the possible criminal activity of the Republican nominee.

Trump Bombs And Delivers Historically Terrible Performance At Commander In Chief Forum

Donald Trump gave what was nothing less than the worst performance of a nominee in modern political history. Trump confirmed that he knows nothing, and is proud of his ignorance.

Trump began by telling America that he was fit to be commander in chief because he is a business man. Trump once again praised his own judgment and lied about his opposition to the war in Iraq.

Lauer asked Trump if the country can afford to take the temperament risk on him. Trump brought up the Mexico trip and claimed that the firestorm his trip caused in Mexico was a victory.

Trump was asked about his claim that he knows more about ISIS than the generals, and he avoided the question. Lauer asked Trump if he lost faith in the military commanders. Trump did a song and dance about how trusts the military commanders, but he doesn’t trust Hillary Clinton.

A vet who is a Democrat asked Trump about his secret plan to defeat ISIS and asked what his plan for the region is. Trump repeated the question about how the US has invaded and never had a plan. Trump lied and claimed that Obama pulled out all of the troops, and that is how ISIS was formed. Trump repeated his babbling that the US should take the oil. Lauer asked how the oil would be taken, and Trump mumbled something about leaving people behind to take the oil.

Revealed: Conway, Bannon Members of Secretive Group

Mark Potok
Senior Fellow

<...>

The CNP is an intensely secretive and shadowy group of what The New York Times once described as “the most powerful conservatives in the country.” It is so tight-lipped that it tells people not to admit their membership or even name the group. Revealing when or where the group meets, or what it discusses, is also forbidden. The organization, which can only be joined by invitation and at a cost of thousands of dollars, strives mightily to keep its membership rolls secret.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which publishes Hatewatch, obtained a copy this spring of the CNP’s 2014 membership directory, a closely held document. It shows that Conway was a member of the CNP’s executive committee that year, and that Bannon was a regular member. It is not known if they remain.

The CNP is not controversial so much for the conservatives who dominate it — activists of the religious right and the so-called “culture wars,” along with a smattering of wealthy financiers, Congressional operatives, right-wing consultants and Tea Party operatives — as for the many real extremists who are included.

They include people like Michael Peroutka, a neo-Confederate who for years was on the board of the white supremacist League of the South; Jerome Corsi, a strident Obama “birther” and the propagandist hit man responsible for the “Swift boating” of John Kerry; Joseph Farah, who runs the wildly conspiracist “news” operation known as WorldNetDaily; Mat Staver, the Liberty Counsel leader who has worked to re-criminalize gay sex; Philip Zodhaites, another anti-gay activist who is charged with helping a self-described former lesbian who kidnapped her daughter from her former partner and fled the country; and a large number of other similar characters.

20 years of 2 media outlets actively lying 4 GOP, now Fox & Breitbart openly run Trump campaign!

Donald Trump Turns to Combative Breitbart Executive in Staff Shake-Up

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/18/us/politics/donald-trump-stephen-bannon-paul-manafort.html

LAS VEGAS — Donald J. Trump has shaken up his presidential campaign for the second time in two months, hiring a top executive from the conservative website Breitbart News and promoting a senior adviser in an effort to right his faltering campaign.

Stephen Bannon, the executive chairman of Breitbart News LLC, will become the Republican campaign’s chief executive, and Kellyanne Conway, a senior adviser and pollster for Mr. Trump and his running mate, Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana, will become the campaign manager.

Paul Manafort, the campaign chairman, will retain his title, and his deputy, Rick Gates, is expected to receive a new one.

The news, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, was confirmed early Wednesday by Ms. Conway in a brief interview, but she rejected the idea that the changes amounted to a shake-up and said that Mr. Manafort was not being diminished.

“It’s an expansion at a busy time in the final stretch of the campaign,” she said.

“We met as the ‘core four’ today,” Ms. Conway added, referring to herself, Mr. Bannon, Mr. Manafort and Mr. Gates.

Hiring of Breitbart exec spells utter doom for Trump

Hiring of Breitbart exec spells utter doom for Trump

http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/presidential-campaign/291748-hiring-of-breitbart-exec-spells-utter-doom-for-trump

The hiring of Breitbart News Chairman Steve Bannon as the Trump campaign's new CEO is beyond parody.

Bannon is "a legitimately sinister figure, a "bully," and a "dictator" who is "prone to a lot of tirades." And that's just what former employees say about him.

In other words, Donald Trump hired a version of himself.

Bannon has ruined the Breitbart News operation by running it as a Trump super-PAC full of sensationalized stories and Trump fan fiction, rather than the sharp, muscular, anti-establishment vision the late Andrew Breitbart had for the enterprise.

Donald Trump is in a room with the walls closing in.

Every week is worse than the one before it.

His deficit in crucial states like Virginia and Florida is growing. He has no campaign. He has no field offices. He is finally starting TV ads this weekend, as the Summer Olympics end.

I don't know what Kellyanne Conway can do as campaign manager. She is a skilled and respected operative and pollster, known for expertise in messaging to women.

But Trump has resisted all advice for months and he has refused to pivot to the middle, to professionalize his campaign, to grow as a candidate or to unify Republicans.

Bannon's hiring is a huge middle finger to campaign Chairman Paul Manafort. Manafort has been trying (and failing) to drag Trump out of a primary mindset into a general election where Trump will need to win 65 to 70 million votes.
