National Garage Sale Day It’s time to clean out some old junk – but one person’s junk may be another’s treasure! Garage Sale Day is an excuse to set up a table in your garage or on your lawn, put up some signs and rake in the eager crowds for a chance to walk away with a modestly priced, pre-loved treat! https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/garage-sale-day/

Ecological Debt Day Ecological Debt Day is a day intended to remind people of the impact of a modern life-style on the planet. It marks the point in each Gregorian calendar year where human consumption of natural resources exceeds the earth’s ability to replace those resources that year. At a sustainable rate of consumption, Ecological Debt Day would fall at the end of each calendar year. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/ecological-debt-day/

Middle Child Day Middle Child’s Day provides a well-deserved day to celebrate those special children who were neither the first-born or the last-born. Finally, a day where you get some attention and love, at the expense of your other siblings. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/middle-childs-day/

International Lefthander's Day From scissors to knives, Left Handers, or Southpaws, are the brunt of jokes all year long for various different things. But this is the day to ignore that, and bring awareness to all the right handed folk around the globe in celebration of Left Handers Day, after all while right handed people operate in the left side of the brain, left handed people sure the right side. Therefore, only left handed people are in their right mind. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/lefthanders-day/

Play in the Sand
Day The whisper of wind over your skin as you dig into the fine sand brings back memories for many of us. Maybe it was just as a child playing in a sandbox at the park, or at the beach on a vacation. Either way, or in whatever way you remember your experiences with that lovely little grain that you moved by the billions, this day is all about Playing in the Sand! https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/play-in-the-sand-day/

Ingersoll Day Robert Green Ingersoll was a famous American orator, who lived and became famous during the nineteenth century. Ingersoll Day celebrates his contributions to society, which he made through passionate campaigning for womens’ and minority rights. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/ingersoll-day/

Son & Daughter Day Son and Daughter Day is the perfect opportunity to set aside some time to reflect on the joy that children bring to your life. Whether sons and daughters are young or old, teenagers or toddlers, the bond between parent and child is like no other on earth and this annual celebration ensures the miracle of bringing new life into the world is never forgotten. Though the origins of Son and Daughter Day are unknown, it is celebrated widely across the world simply by parents spending time with their children and letting them know how special they are to them. The best gift to give on Son and Daughter Day is the gift of time. If your children are still living at home, take some time out of your schedule to truly enjoy their company. If your children have moved away, make sure they return so you can spend quality family time together. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/son-and-daughter-day/

Yard Sign Poll

I have found that yard signs tend to be a reasonable measure of what might be seen coming up in the election. Not really perfect by any means, but those who will put up a yard sign will most likely vote.

While it is still early in the campaign, in my heavily Democratic area I have thus far seen a total of two for the upcoming Presidential race and both are for the Libertarian Candidate, Gary Johnson.

What up in your area?

Friendship day was originally founded by Hallmark in 1919. It was intended to be a day for people to celebrate their friendship by sending eachother cards, but by 1940 the market had dried up, and eventually it died out completely. However, in 1998 Winnie the Pooh was named the world’s Ambassador of Friendship at the United Nations (believe it or not!), and in April 2011 the United Nations officially recognised 30th July as International Friendship Day; although most countries celebrate on the first Sunday of August! https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/friendship-day/

Lighthouse Day A light that shines in the darkness to protect and alert. Sounds like something one would say about that friend or mentor whom helps us in the hardest of times, but alas, this is not that reference. This is a reference to the silent, but bright, guardians of our coastlines and ships, the majestic lighthouse. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/lighthouse-day/
