Former Congressman Critz to run for Lt. Governor

Critz to run for lieutenant governor

Former Congressman Mark Critz confirmed Wednesday he plans to run for lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania.

“This will give me an opportunity to not only serve the new areas that are in the 12th district, but it gives me a chance to serve the people I lost in redistricting and all of Pennsylvania. I thought there's an opportunity there,” the Johnstown Democrat said.

“I have a very strong grassroots organization, and I think that not only could I be successful in the (2014) primary but then I could help the ticket in a race in the fall,” said Critz, who believes he provides geographical balance to the ticket because all six announced Democrat gubernatorial candidates are from eastern Pennsylvania.

Critz lost the 12th district seat to Republican Keith Rothfus during the 2012 general election.

About school districts---

I think you are in PA, right? You do not say if you are certified to teach, but if you are, you could get on the substitute list. The superintendent has nothing to do with hiring, for the most part. You have to go through the proper channels of the application process. You need to call the Superintendent's secretary to find out what positions are available and how to apply. The superintendent can recommend someone, but the School Board does the hiring.

It is probably too late for the beginning of the year, because you have to have several clearances and all your paperwork in order. It is an involved process! Just having a master's degree is not sufficient unless you have credentials.

I don't know what your brother is talking about, but he cannot get people hired. Even coaches have to go through the same process. In PA, the teachers' unions carefully monitor that the district is posting vacancies, etc. Some vacancies might not be advertised (not required) but they need to be posted in the buildings. (This is where the secretary comes in handy.) Teaching vacancies are also posted on a site online through the Dept. of Ed, I think. Sorry, I don't know the address.

Don't be so hard on your brother, even if he is full of sh*t. It will hurt your mother to see you two alienated from each other. Good luck, mrmpa.

Love at first sight.

I asked my BF, "Who is that cute guy?" and it turned out that she and he had recently dated! LOL

We just celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary!

That is a really pretty spot.

So quiet and secluded. A great place to get away from everything and everyone!

Eight Insurers Seek to Participate in Pa. Health Exchange

Eight insurers seek to participate in Pa. health exchange

Uninsured Pennsylvanians who will be required to buy health coverage for the first time are likely to find plenty of options this year when they go shopping in a virtual marketplace being set up by the federal government.

Eight insurance companies are seeking to sell multiple health plans to individuals in the marketplace, known as a health insurance exchange, which will start open enrollment on Oct. 1. A list of companies was released on Thursday by the state Insurance Department, which reviewed the plans.

Final approval is still needed from the federal Health and Human Services Department, which is overseeing implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

The exchanges are being formed as a safety net to provide health insurance coverage for individuals whose employers are not required to provide coverage under the Affordable Care Act or who lack coverage because they are self-employed or unemployed.

A sad turn of events....Mini-vibes needed.

My hamster escaped his cage last night and is missing. I sent the dogs in there to sniff him out but they just looked worried and confused. I just set a Havahart trap--- that was confounding and frustrating as hell! First it wouldn't spring shut and then it sprung every time I looked at it!

All tiny little hamster-sized vibes are requested. Thanks very much.

Dammit.... the curse of 2013 continues!
