About Me

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieve it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. ~~~~~~~~~ For, it ends in the blink of an eye. Carpe Diem (Seize the day)!

Giant panda faked pregnancy for extra treats and air conditioning.

By Jessica Chasmar - The Washington Times - Wednesday, August 27, 2014
Giant panda Ai Hin may have pulled the ultimate diva move by faking her pregnancy in order to receive larger food rations and fancier living accommodations.

The planned first ever live-broadcast of a panda giving birth has been cancelled at the Chengdu Breeding Research Centre, in China’s southwestern province of Sichuana.

Experts there say the 6-year-old Ai Hin showed signs of pregnancy last month, but her behaviors went back to normal as soon as she moved to a single room with air conditioning and round-the-clock care, The Telegraph reported.

Experts soon realized the panda was not pregnant.

“They receive more buns, fruits and bamboo, so some clever pandas have used this to their advantage to improve their quality of life,” said Wu Kongju, an employee at the panda base.

Many bears continue to display pregnant behavior after noticing the difference in treatment they receive. Giant pandas are notoriously reluctant to breed in captivity and pseudo-pregnancies are common, CNN reported.

Just a reminder

Silly little birds!

The birdbath is full but they insist on holding onto the pond liner to sip water. It seems as if they are daredevils, challenging one another to climb down anything (aerator hose, electric cord, plastic flower pot hanger holding the waterlily, leaves) to get closer to the pond surface.

One of the koi came up to investigate.

It's my 66th birthday today.

As I look back at 55, 44, 33 and so on ... it was an interesting life.

I wonder where I'll be at 77.
