Oakland Police Department Investigation Opened Into Officer Conduct During Occupy Protests
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/22/oakland-police-department-investigation-occupy-protests_n_1166368.html?ref=san-franciscoThe investigation is likely in response to a recent lawsuit filed against the department by the American Civil Liberties Union and the National Lawyers Guild alleging that:
On two recent occasions (Oct. 25 and Nov. 2) the OPD and cooperating police agencies under their direction indiscriminately shot flash-bang grenades and other projectiles into crowds of Occupy Oakland protesters. These actions clearly violate the Fourth Amendment by subjecting protesters who posed no safety concerns to unnecessary and excessive force, and the First Amendment by interfering with demonstrators' rights to assemble and demonstrate.
Both Quan and the OPD have become major targets of late owing to their handling of Occupy Oakland. Quan is current the subject of two separate recall campaigns working to get her removed from office.
Occupy Wall Street Travelogue
"Uploaded by OccupyTravels on Dec 23, 2011
In October 2011 I visited 10 different "Occupy Wall Street" encampments to gain a better understanding of the movement. I edited a short film that documents my experiences in Chicago, D.C., New York City, Providence, Boston, Montreal, Albany, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland. My film shows the Occupy Movement in its first phase, which I'm calling "The Awakening".
Please take a moment to view this and share it with others. I'm hoping to generate interest in the project and continue covering the movement into its next phase.

Los Angeles Councilman: Trutanich Wants To Silence Civil Disobedience
http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2011/02/11/councilman-trutanich-wants-to-silence-civil-disobedience/February 2011 (goes to motive)
LOS ANGELES (CBS) Los Angeles city attorney Carmen Trutanich is coming down hard on political protesters, seeking jail time as much as up to one year behind bars for demonstrations he says costs the city big bucks.
But as KNX 1070's Bill Cooper reports, city councilman Ed Reyes says Trutanich is attacking a practice that dates all the way back to the American Revolution.
Previous prosecutors have treated many of these cases as infractions, but Trutanich argues that the protesters hes targeting should face consequences for not having the proper permits, disrupting traffic, and costing taxpayers thousands of dollars.

So this is nearly a year old, but it certainly details the climate into which was born #Occupy Los Angeles. And why we are continuously profiled and harassed.
Councilman, it costs you nothing to leave us alone. See, I just saved you millions of dollars! You're welcome!
New anti-NDAA provision in the works, S.2003, the Due Process Guarantee Act
Dear Mr. :
Thank you for writing to me about provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) concerning the military detention of enemy combatants. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.
I was deeply disappointed that the final version of the NDAA did not include important language authored by Senators Mark Udall (D-CO) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) regarding detainees that would have protected civil liberties while helping to keep us safe. During floor consideration of the NDAA, I voted for an amendment offered by Senator Udall that would have replaced the detainee provisions in the bill with a requirement for the Administration to report to Congress on detention authorities. Unfortunately, this amendment failed by a vote of 38-60.
I also voted for an amendment offered by Senator Feinstein that would have clarified that mandatory military detention would apply only to terrorist suspects captured outside the United States. This amendment also failed by a vote of 45-55.
I have now agreed to be a co-sponsor of S.2003, the Due Process Guarantee Act. This important bipartisan legislation would protect American citizens arrested within the United States from being held indefinitely by the U.S. military.
I strongly oppose any expansion of military detention authority that erodes our civil liberties. However, I voted for the National Defense Authorization Act because it includes a number of provisions for our troops and their families, including a pay raise requested by President Obama and important health care benefits.
Again, thank you for writing. Please feel free to contact me again about this or other issues of concern to you.
Sincerely,
Barbara Boxer
United States Senator
I believe I need to make a quick clarification about my views, please.
When I discuss the #Occupy General Assembly (eventually and hopefully) replacing the government, I am talking evolution and the will of the people as they regain and utilize their voice. I love America and I am non-violent. What I don't love and wish to see changed, is this fascism:
"Were seeing Washington and Wall Street working so closely together that you really cant tell the difference between them...The government officials we are trusting and paying to look out for Americans are using those positions to get really nice, high-paying jobs in private-sector places, including Wall Street, that are effectively being used as bribes." - Leah Goodman, The Asylum
www.zerohedge.com/contributed/twas-friday-christmas (Thank you to DUer elehhhhna for this.)
I am not saying we need to be violent. I am not saying we need to storm the government. I AM saying we need to continue to STAND UP AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT AND BE HIGHLY VOCAL ABOUT IT WHEN THE GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN PURCHASED and we have descended into true fascism. Those who have bought the government are attempting to use its lawmaking branch to stifle all Constitutional rights, so THEY may continue to be able to control and prosper. They have overthrown our government, the government of the people, for the people, by the people. They are treasonous. We are demanding an end to this. They will resist. We will resist with even more strength. Or we will have fascism, with its corresponding iron fist into the faces of the average American (see the bills these very people are attempting to pass to create laws protecting and empowering themselves, such as SOPA, the NDAA, etc.). Under these laws, THEY will be able to call anyone who resists their fascism, a terrorist, THEY will control what we can see and hear...and eventually, what we can do.

#Occupy. Speak up and call them on their usurpation. Make them slink back under their rock. If you are voting or working to elect "authorities", make CERTAIN they aren't just another Scott Walker in sheep's clothing. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance! Money out of politics, return politics to the people!
Facebook help, please: Ron Pauler getting very weird with me.
I blocked him after being polite, and he somehow Messaged me twice after that, with a veiled threat. I find no way to report the individual messages, and unblocked to report the anomaly. Reporting only asks you to send it to a friend, has no Facebook contact for this, and I'm not finding anything in the Help pages. Here are the conversations with only the names removed. I'm the Fawkes icon. I blocked him immediately after my last message.
Okay, I eventually found to unblock and report the Message conversation.
I know that some Anons are Ron Paul supporters. I ask you, if somehow I have been targeted, and I truly hope not: How would attacking me for not wishing to follow Ron Paul be any different than the government attacking us because the 1% don't like #Occupy? Please do not become the same thing we are attempting to stop from happening! I support Anonymous and the fight for freedom! Freedom to make my own choice is what is important! Fascism from a corporation or from a computer, what would then be the difference?

Please sign a petition against it being made Illegal to Sit or Stand in Parks
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/illegal-to-sit-or-stand/A new law proposed in Boulder, CO would make it illegal to sit or stand in all public parks and any public space after 11pm. According to City Manager Jane Brautigam, who drafted the law, it will only be used against people who are not engaged in an activity such as biking or walking. In other words it is o.k. to be in a publicly owned park as long as you are moving. If you stand still, sit down, or are for any reason considered by a police officer to not be engaged in an "approved activity" you can be ticketed or jailed. Any personal property can be removed and disposed of by the city. Jane Brautigam claims the law would provide a safer environment for the Boulder public, however the truth is it would restrict public access to over 45,000 acres of public space in Boulder CO, a city that prides itself on the stunning beauty of its natural landscape and its progressive policies.
Lying liars at UC Davis targeted by truth-seeking missile
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bob-ostertag/uc-davis-pepper-spray_b_1161409.htmlYesterday, Jerika finally got her meeting with the Chancellor, including the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor Fred Wood, Jerika, and myself (attending at Jerika's request). The administrators listened respectfully as Jerika explained what it was like to have no family, work two jobs, get straight A's, and worry that rising tuition costs would force her to drop out and spend years paying back loans on a degree she never received. She asked questions about university funding which the administrators did their best to answer.
The Chancellor wondered exactly what number in the vast university Jerika had been calling and why the messages had not made their way to her. Jerika replied that the number was listed as that of the Chancellor's office on the Chancellor's web page,. She said she spoken over and over with a woman named Allison. The Chancellor claimed that no Allison worked in her office.
...
The next morning I called the number that appears so often in the 'previous calls' list on Jerika's cellphone. A woman named Allison answered, "Chancellor's office..."
