Arkansas Granny
Arkansas Granny's JournalWoo hoo! Just got a call from a friend. She and her daughter are going to register to vote next week
so they can vote for Harris/Walz. They had not renewed their registration after moving several years ago, but Kamala's speech last night really inspired them.
Update: Last week I told you about the Mockingbird nest outside my window.
I've been checking on the nest every couple of days. Yesterday all four nestlings were still there and cheeky enough to give me the stinkeye when I peeked in on them.
Today I hadn't seen any activity from the adult birds, so I went out to check. The nest is empty! I checked the ground around the bush and saw no signs of babies on the ground, so I assume they have fledged and flown. They only spend 12-13 days in the nest after hatching. Since they were pretty well feathered out last week when I first looked at them, I suppose it was time for them to go. I hope they all made it safely.
I hope this is prophetic.

I noticed them bringing nesting material a few weeks ago. One of the parents has been chasing other birds out of the area for several days, including a couple of crows that were much, much larger. Over the last few days they have been making numerous trips in and out of the bush with insects dangling from their beaks.
I didn't want to disturb them, but I finally took a look and I could see the nest deep in the branches and when I nudged one of the twigs one slightly, 4 little heads with gaping mouths popped up out of the nest. Hooray!

?si=h3V-rm8tACfpHNrpI have to do a little bragging today.
One of my grandsons got his ACT score today. A perfect 36. He has always been a straight A student and is very mature and responsible. He hopes to go to West Point. We are very proud.
Happy Birthday, Dolly Parton! Enjoy "Wildflowers" with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris.
