Source: The Hill
Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday accused President Trump of provoking the violent crowd that stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
The last time the Senate convened, we had just reclaimed the Capitol from violent criminals who tried to stop Congress from doing our duty. The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people, McConnell said on the Senate floor, marking the first convening of the full Senate since the attack.
McConnells statements carry significance ahead of an anticipated Senate impeachment trial. The GOP leader has told colleagues he hasnt yet decided how he would vote on a House-passed article of impeachment against Trump.

Third Colorado man faces federal charges, including allegations he assaulted officer, after U.S. Capitol riot
A Woodland Park man with alleged ties to a radical militia group is facing federal criminal charges in connection with the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol building after authorities say he was spotted wielding a baseball bat and attacking law enforcement officers.
Robert Gieswein, 24, is the third Colorado man charged following the riot. Federal court documents filed in Washington, D.C., charged Gieswein with assault on a federal officer, destruction of government property, obstruction of an official proceeding, entering a restricted building or grounds without authority, violent entry or disorderly conduct, and aiding and abetting.
Federal court documents signed by an FBI special agent describe Giesweins alleged involvement in the riot, with the agent identifying him through videos and photos from the day.
Gieswein traveled to Washington, D.C., assaulted and intimidated U.S. Capitol Police officers with a spray canister, temporary barrier and baseball bat, court documents state. He also encouraged other rioters to break a window at the U.S. Capitol building to gain entry.

BREAKING: Trump Reportedly Will Not Pardon Himself or His Family
Source: MSN
President Donald Trump is set to issue a slew of pardons in the final hours of his term. But none of them, reportedly, will go to his family. And he will not pardon himself either.
According to Fox News anchor John Roberts, the president has decided not to issue a pardon to himself, nor has he decided to pardon anyone in his family.
There has been talk that the president might have legal exposure stemming from the Capitol riots, with some suggesting that Trump could be charged for inciting the attack. Manhattan D.A. Cy Vance has a criminal investigation ongoing into Trumps finances, but any charges resulting from that probe would not be covered by a pardon.
CNN reported on Sunday that Trump is set to issue roughly 100 pardons on Tuesday.

Barr told Trump that theories about stolen election were 'bulls---': report
Source: The Hill
Former Attorney General William Barr reportedly pushed back strongly on President Trump when discussing claims the president was circulating about the election being "stolen" from him.
Barr, during a meeting with Trump at the White House in early December, told the president that such theories of a stolen election were "bullshit," Axios reported Monday.
Other aides in the room, including White House counsel Pat Cipollone, were reportedly surprised that the attorney general had made the comment, though did not disagree with his remarks.
The meeting came as Barr had publicly undercut the president's baseless allegations of widespread voter fraud, telling The Associated Press that the Justice Department had not uncovered evidence to back up the claims.
