Georgia election official dealing with threats, attempted email hacks

Source: 11alive

ATLANTA — One of Georgia's top election officials, who has been in the spotlight throughout the election season holding multiple news conferences, is now getting threats, he said.

Gabriel Sterling, the Voting Systems Manager for the Georgia Secretary of State's office, said that he has police protection around his home after threats came in the aftermath of election results.

Ari Schaffer, the press secretary for the Secretary of State, said the FBI is also investigating the threats made to state election officials.

Both men are said to be lifelong Republicans who had hoped for a Trump victory in Georgia, however, they said multiple times their highest priority was to uphold the integrity of the office and the elections it oversees.

Incoming chief of staff says Biden will begin announcing top Cabinet picks this week

Source: NBC News

Incoming White House chief of staff Ron Klain said Sunday that President-elect Joe Biden will begin announcing his Cabinet picks early this week.

Klain told ABC's "This Week" that Americans will see the first of Biden's nominees on Tuesday.

"Meeting the pace — beating, in fact, the pace that was set by the Obama/Biden transition, beating the pace set by the Trump transition," Klain said, adding, "But if you want to know what Cabinet agencies they are, who's going to be in those cabinet agencies, you'll have to wait for the president-elect to say that himself on Tuesday."

Last week, Biden told reporters he has settled on a Treasury secretary and would be naming that person around Thanksgiving, though he gave no indication on who that person might be.

Dominion spokesman: 'It is not physically possible for our machines to switch votes from one candida

Source: The Hill

A spokesperson Dominion Voting Systems addressed conspiracy theories about the company on Fox News Sunday, saying it was “not physically possible” for its machines to change voter selections.

“This is a nonpartisan American company. It is not physically possible for our machines to switch votes from one candidate to the other,” Michael Steel said on Fox News’ “America’s News HQ” Sunday.

“Let's be very clear, our election system is run by local elected officials and nonpartisan poll watchers. We simply provide a tool to count the ballots and to print and count ballots,” he added. “There is no way such a massive fraud could have taken place and there are no connections between our company and Venezuela, Germany, Barcelona, Kathmandu, whatever the latest conspiracy theory is.”

Pressed by Fox News’ Eric Shawn as to how he could be sure the voting machines were secure, Steel responded “[W]hen a voter votes on a Dominion machine, they fill out their ballot on the touchscreen, they are given a printed copy which they then give to a local election official for safekeeping.”

Trump campaign has sent out more than 250 fundraising emails asking supporters for cash

Trump campaign fundraises off of Giuliani news conference and uses photo of Trump in hospital

The Trump campaign sent out another fundraising email to supporters on Friday, signed by President Donald Trump, praising his attorney Rudy Giuliani's widely panned news conference this week and featuring a photo of Trump taken when he was a coronavirus patient in the hospital.

"Did you watch my legal team's press conference yesterday? They were SPECTACULAR," the email read, discussing Giuliani and other members of the Trump campaign's legal team peddling conspiracy theories and lies for over 90 minutes Thursday in front of reporters.

The campaign has sent out more than 250 fundraising emails asking supporters for cash as it continues baseless legal challenges across several states fighting the 2020 election results. President-elect Joe Biden won 306 electoral votes to Trump's 232.

In the fine print of the Friday's solicitation, Team Trump has upped the share of the money that goes to Trump's leadership PAC, Save America. Now, 75% of each contribution goes to Save America. It had been a 60% cut last week.

No, Trump's sister did not publicly back him. He was duped by a fake account.

No, Trump’s sister did not publicly back him. He was duped by a fake account.

On Friday morning, President Trump shared a seemingly innocuous article on Twitter. The piece said that his sister, Elizabeth Trump Grau, had publicly voiced her support for her brother amid his baseless claims that he won the 2020 election.

“Thank you Elizabeth,” Mr. Trump wrote to his sister, who has long avoided the spotlight. “LOVE!”

There was just one problem: Ms. Trump Grau had not said what the article claimed. In fact, the article Mr. Trump shared was based on a fake Twitter account that posed as his sister.

That article, on the website of a conservative talk-radio host named Wayne Dupree, quoted a post from a Twitter account named “Betty Trump” that used a photo of Ms. Trump Grau as its profile picture.

Trump accuses Pfizer and Moderna of working to stop his re-election

Source: Independent UK

Donald Trump has accused Pfizer and Moderna of working to stop his re-election by delaying their Covid vaccines.

The outgoing president again made the false claim he had “won” the election as he gave a White House press conference on lowering drug prices.

And he claimed that regardless of a vaccine breakthrough the Democrats would “have found the ballots someplace” to beat him.

“Big pharma ran millions of dollars of negative advertisements against me during the campaign, which I won by the way,” said Mr Trump.

More conservatives break with Trump over election claims

Source: The Hill

A growing number of conservative Republicans are breaking with President Trump and his legal team over what they view as a dangerous effort to overturn the election results by promoting conspiracy theories.

The voices range from Fox News’s Tucker Carlson to Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) to conservative lawyers and thought leaders such as Karl Rove.

“This is delusional,” said Mark Braden, the former chief counsel at the RNC. “I’m a professional Republican so it’s not easy for me to have to deal with my friends on this. Look – voter fraud occurs. I’ve seen it. It happens. But you have to be realistic about the size and scope of it.”

Republican lawyers interviewed by The Hill said Trump’s early legal challenges on voter fraud were defensible and reasonable, even if they had no chance of changing the outcome of the election. But they’re disturbed by the dark turn things have taken, and worried that Trump’s claims are undermining democracy and misleading millions of his own supporters.
