Know I am supposed to be on vacation,per Doctor's orders but she also said I needed to start looking for signs of Hope for the future. Had to share it here, then go.

For the past 36 hours women have been visiting Susan B Anthony's gravesite and leaving "I voted" stickers. This is the first time that I've heard of this happening. Maybe just maybe Tuesday was a wake up call.

This is being reported by WHAM13 in Rochester NY on Facebook but as usual their links don't work.

Just got advised by my Doctor to step far away from thinking, reading, or any thing even remotely related to politics until I can gain some perspective and not just see gloom and doom because of the election last night.

Going to try, can't guarantee I can do it, but I think that means taking a vacation away from DU entirely including the more relaxing forums for awhile.

for awhile DU. Since I am having no luck in gaining perspective right now and my Doctor just advised me to step far far away from thinking, talking, and or reading about politics for awhile, I don't think I should ignore her advice.

She said shore up your defenses and come back to the fight again another day when your stronger.

So good bye for now. Can't guarantee I can live up to self imposed exile but I am going to try at least for now.

I could get behind that EXCEPT those who didn't vote for this are going to suffer as badly if not more than those who did but then again I've never looked as group punishment as just.

What's the point in fooling ourselves any more about our future? If people can actually look at people like Jonie Earnst and Ted Cruz, etc etc and say that's who I want representing me?

If people can hear physicists, biologists, the UN and even the freaking Pentagon for God's sake saying Climate Change is real and is reaching the point of being irreversible, but ignore all of them because Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly told them Al Gore just made it all up, what's the point? What part of irreversible as in we can't afford even two more years of deniers, don't people get?

And hey its just two more years of unfettered racism, bigotry, gender discrimination etc? I guess it doesn't seem insurmountable that is if you aren't in one of the classes being discriminated against.

Hey even more families thrown into poverty and starvation, so what some miracle working savior will just come along and wave a wand and fix it in two years?

Well guess what You can't fix Insanity or Stupidity.

It be one thing if it was just one region but it's not. All but my sister and one cousin in my family is Puke and I live in freaking New York State supposedly a last blue bastion, and even our Governor is only a Dem lite.

This is a civilization that consists of a population where over half don't believe in basic scientific truth anymore, who believe everything Faux Noise tells them, who don't even understand the definitions of socialism, communism, and capitalism let alone how they work, who think all their problems are caused by women, African-Americans and Spanish speaking immigrants, I could go on but what's the point.

They don't want to learn or grow they are happy in their own little Faux fantasy land where even if they screw up and kill this planet with pollution some kindly little old white dude with a beard is going to come down and take their righteous selves to his mansion in the sky.

We didn't loose to your parent's or grandparent's Republicans last night. We lost to the freaking crazy nutball T Party who can win elections in a dumb downed populace but can't manage to hold a sane thought between them.

As long as they and their supporters which again is now roughly half the county get to vote too there is no fixing this. That's all I can think right now. I can't see what's left to hope for? Maybe that a comet or an Asteroid gets us before the effects of slower killing. thus leading to more suffering, climate change?

It would be one thing if this were moderate Republicans but these are the Freaking Nut Jobs who just got elected. So obviously the majority of the country is as Fucking nuts as they are.

Our side will think they didn't get elected because they still didn't move far right enough and kiss even more Repuke ass.

turn out wasn't too high but maybe in this case that's not a bad thing. Our county tends to go PUKE. I was afraid they might come out in high numbers because Astorino vowed he would repeal Safe Act, which is the gun control legislation Governor Cuomo lobbied for and won.

I voted because I feel it's my duty and because though Governor Cuomo had a commanding lead in the polls, I didn't want to just take it for granted that he'd win. I don't think all that highly of Cuomo, and hope he never becomes our Presidential nominee but he sure as hell is better than Astorino and I wanted to keep our county sheriff's office under a Democrat's control as well.

My vote is cast in honor of Professor Jack Bricker. May he RIP. He died of cancer several years ago. He was a history and political science professor at a local community college and a former Ohio State Senator.

What he taught was one of the main reasons I became a Democrat! He truly knew his subjects and was always very supportive of his students.

He said he loved my Dad and said he was one of the hardest working and smartest men he'd ever met. My Dad worked for the DPW as head mechanic and Jack was on City Council.

Jack even helped me fill out my scholarship application and gave me a glowing recommendation to the college of my choice for my last two years.

I hope he's looking down on the proceedings today and is proud that I am going all BLUE.
