on the corner of Golf & Meecham here in Schaumberg, IL.
They are out on this corner every Sunday. Today I noticed something as we passed them by in our car that I haven't seen before.
They were displaying a Korean flag.
Does anyone know the significance of that? Why would they be displaying that flag?
I Look At DU As A Sort Of Virtual Focus Group Of Democratic - Thoughts (+ and -), Hopes And Dreams..
kind of a pulse of the Democratic Party.
I was wondering if anyone thinks that our elected Democratic Officials - State and Federal - House and Senate - lurk here at DU to try and get a gauge of the thinking of us that post here.
I know if I was a Congressman or a Senator - I would be visiting DU on an on-going basis to learn what my constituents are feeling and thinking.
Do we know if DU is being monitored by our elected officials?
I think DU is a treasure-trove of info and insight into the minds of us Dems.
Do you think it is being perceived that way by our elected officials?
Closing The Loopholes That Gave Us The Trump Administration....
I thought that after the Dems reclaimed the WH and control of the Senate & House - that they would move to close all the loopholes that Trump & the Repugs exploited over the last 4 yrs to destroy our government.
Instead I'm hearing about all the legislation being considered and passed around the country in Repug controlled States to further suppress votes, control elections and push this country closer to fascism.
Instead It looks like the Repugs are the ones that are doing the tweaking so they can create new loopholes in order to regain control and continue down the path to a fascist government.
I thought I'd feel much better now that Trump is no longer in the WH & Moscow Mitch is relegated to a minority role. I thought I'd sleep better and be less stressed.
However, now I feel even more stressed about the fragile situation we find ourselves in.
Anyone out there have the same nightmares as I?

Many of the Repugs are trying to say and do things that are more shocking, nonsensical and absurd - just to top one of the other Repug's making shocking statements.
What's The Latest ETA On More Vaccine For Illinois?....
I'm in the 1B group - over 72 with other issues and I've been having a difficult time getting an appointment for the vaccine.
I keep getting notices that I'm all signed up and registered - but when I try to make an appointment - I get the message back to 'please be patient' more vaccine is on the way.
Today I received a notice that there was some available and a site near where I live - but when I went that site - it said all appointments are already booked.
Why are people getting vaccine in other States - but it seems like we're being shorted here in Illinois.
There Is A U.S. Capitol Visitor's Center Where All Tours Of The Capitol Are Staged Out Of......
The public entrance to the U.S. Capitol is through the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center. The U.S. Capitol is open to the public for tours Monday – Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. It is closed on Sundays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Inauguration Day.
All tours, programs and activities are free of charge. Advance reservations are recommended, but not required. Individuals, families and small groups (of 15 and fewer people) can click here to create an account and reserve a tour date and time.
The Visitor's Center is closed now because of the pandemic.
I believe that this Visitor's Center was built after 9/11 to be able to manage the visits and screen people ala TSA Airports.
So - there have been precautions taken - but nothing yet to prevent or stop the crowds from storming the Capitol Bldg like 1/6/21.
It seems like they might have to keep fences up around the Capitol Bldg going forward and make sure all visits and tours go through the Visitor's Center. They'll also have to increase security in the tunnels leading to the Capitol as well as to all the Senate and House Office Bldgs.
Speeding, Reckless Driving & Expressway Fatalities In The Chicagoland Area During The Pandemic....
Some friends and I in a Zoom Mtging were discussing the recent news reports about Chicago expressway fatalities.
It has been noticeable to all of us that there are less cars on the roads during the pandemic and many of drivers of those cars on the roads are driving recklessly and speeding more than usual.
All of us came to the same conclusion and that is that there are very few police patrolling the expressways and that the lack of police presence has embolden drivers to speed because they know that they won't be pulled over.
In discussing the lack of police presence on the expressways we also surmised that this might be a direct result of the pandemic and that police do not want to pull anyone over for fear of catching Covid from those in the cars that they pull over. Even if they wear a mask - there's no guarantee that the person that they pull over is wearing a mask and it is difficult to social distance in the process of giving a ticket.
I'm just curious now if we may have hit on something here.
Are any of you DU'ers police or do you know someone that is a policeman? Have you heard police comment that they might be avoiding pulling people over for fear of contracting Covid?
I believe that this is not just a problem in the Chicago area - but country wide.
Any and all comments are welcome. How do we remedy this situation?

Am I Justified For Saying The Cost Of Gas Going Up Around The Country & Costing Me More To Gas Up...
is because Texas went on their own grid and cut corners and didn't winterize?
I'm blaming the extra money that I'll have to spend now to keep my car filled with gas on the politicians and companies that didn't take proper precautions and cheaped out as they became greedy in their path to profits.
I don't think it is fair that the American People of all the other States should be penalized for this greed.
I wish there was something we could do to make those politicians and companies pay.
Are There Any Automobile Races That Just Involve Electric Vehicles?.....
I'm not a racing fan but I've heard enough about auto races and know that a lot of inventions, improvements and refinements are borne out of racing. A lot is learned about how the car functions and what can be done to improve its performance; make it safer; etc.
I heard that said about races like the Indy 500 races and some NASCAR races.
So I was just wondering if there are any sanctioned races that involve only electric vehicles - with the same goals such as improving the performance of electric vehicles.
It seems like there are enough EV's on the road now and in development and available that such a race can be undertaken.
