*****Theme and timeline for the July Contest*****

The theme is “DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK” Shadow photography

Mousetoescamper won the May contest and the prize was that he could choose the theme for the July contest since June was reserved for the Spring seasonal competition.
When he learned I am troubled with poor vision due to Macular Degeneration, he offered to change the title to simply “Shadow photography”. This sensitivity touches me.

Here is the link I was given

and the words accompanying the link: "Photos will feature shadows used intentionally and creatively. Archived photos may be used. Shadow photography ideas, tips and examples may be found at https://www.adorama.com/alc/shadow-photography-ideas-tips-and-examples/"

Examining the link made me realize that it provides lots of information and stimulation.
I think we will have fun with this theme!

I will start the submissions on the day after the holiday so that maybe you can take some photographs on the fourth of July in the shadows that a hopefully sunny day and leisure to pursue them can provide.

I will let the submissions run for a full 2 weeks so that we can fill the contest with 30 submissions.
Should that not happen, watch for me announcing second submission possibilities.

So watch for the Submissions opening up next Wednesday on the fifth of July, and we will take it from there.

Join me in thanking Mousetoescamper for a great theme.

You encouraged me: Come back to my yard if you like

First meet my 2 canaries in their summer home. When I spy through the door I see that they host visitors on the outside of the cage, and through their beautiful song they bring honor to their names: Antonio and Luciano

Then see what makes pedestrians do a double take in looking at my porch

I don't know what that out-of-season guy on the right
is doing in my yard, nor what he is looking at

The fading beads get replaced at Mardi Gras with new sparkling ones, and honor my love for NOLA

My bird girl is here to remind me of Savannah, because I love it so

I built this, just because

And finally, a few flowers

I used to in the past take you with me when I traveled and reported. I'm kind of home bound now, but I do what I can

Congratulations to George McGovern - not only for the honor of winning the Spring Contest

.......but also for the prize of choosing the theme for the July photos. I await hearing and will share the theme when the time is right. I I am up to host the July contest.

Took my camera out into the front yard

Have not taken a photo in months because sadly, my eyes will always remain hugely impaired, but summer allowed a few fun shots.
I have several green thumbs but no botanical knowledge, and the strange fact I had mums blooming what to me is out of season made me get the camera.
