Last photos and tales from the African Bush - includes a tent at the end

This Zebra appeared out of nowhere.

The Giraffes were my very favorites. The 45 diagonal necks would appear in the trees and startle me. Being handicapped with only my cellphone these are my only giraffe photos.
Don't miss the baby in the third photo.

The Wildebeests run around in herds. They are the favorite prey of the lions I think, but nothing and nobody is safe from that cowering ready to attack lionness I saw while the wildebeests huddled tightly hoping to not be the chosen one

This is the lake that holds the Hippos. I saw some hippo backs and heads, but did not get a photo. I learned they are singularly the most dangerous and unpredictable animals, quick to come out of the water and quick to kill what's moving in front of them

A very clever way to build a fence

Here is the tent we were told we would be staying in. The price for this had been finagled to such a low number that I had brought heavy night gear and stuff for protection for our two nights
in "the tent".

Trump Says He Does Not Know Jared Kushner Very Well - Borowitz peering under the bus

TAORMINA, Italy (The Borowitz Report)—Donald J. Trump on Saturday accused the media of exaggerating his relationship with Jared Kushner, asserting that “I don’t know him very well.”

“He’s someone I would see around the office and who, I guess, was working for me,” Trump told reporters on the last leg of his foreign trip. “Beyond that, I couldn’t tell you much about him.”

Trump acknowledged that he had spoken to Kushner at times during the 2016 campaign. “I’d pass him in the hall and say hello,” he said. “He seemed like an O.K. person. I never got much of a sense of the guy.”

When asked whether Kushner might have had improper contact with Russian spies during the transition, Trump said, “I couldn’t tell you if that’s the kind of thing he’d do. You really should ask someone who knows him.

Trump refused to answer further questions about Kushner’s possible legal difficulties, saying only, “I wish Garrett well.”

Who knew you would like the Penguins so much. Here are a few more

African Penguins at Boulders Beach

Boulders Beach near Simon’s Town has a lot going for it: the ancient granite boulders protect it from the wind and large waves, making it an ideal swimming spot for kids. Because it falls under the Table Mountain National Park Marine Protected Area, the beach is always clean and safe, and it is rarely crowded. Sure, this comes at the cost of a small conservation fee, but who wouldn’t be willing to part ways with R65 for a day in this paradise?

Did I mention the penguins? The soft white sand and warm(ish) waters are not the only reasons why 60 000 visitors a year make their way along the coast, past Simon’s Town, to Boulders Beach. The local inhabitants – and I’m talking about the little tuxedoed chaps here – know how to pull the crowds.

African Penguins – formerly known as jackass penguins because of their distinctive braying – are the only penguins found on the continent. Colonies can be found from southern Namibia all the way around the South African coast to Port Elizabeth; however, few places offer as remarkable a viewing point as Boulders Beach.

This makes me smile. I need all the smiles I can get.

Somewhere along the coast at the very very bottom of the continent of Africa

Better late than not at all, I hope: Come with me to stalk the lions

Apologies for

PHOTOBUCKET: it's acting up, sorry

MY TARDINESS: lots of reasons. Not all of them good, but they are all good excuses

THE QUALITY: when we drove into the first safari park - at the entrance gate - my camera lens broke. These are my iphone photos and I'm lousy at that. I must say I was able to make an adjustment of attitude and was able to tell myself I was here to SEE, not to PHOTOGRAPH.
Which was helped, and made me laugh out loud, when one of the first admonishments from our guide, the ranger was: There is no photography allowed.

Now you know enough and I hope you like what you see. My memories of what I brought with me from stalking the lions.
One more thing, the lioness began to lie in wait for the wildebeests to take down one for their food for the week. A lion family hunts once a week I learned, and the lioness makes the kill and runs the show. The lion does what he is told to do.
I watched a zebra and a number of giraffes go into high alert. It was a very scary to us as well, even though we were safe on our vehicle and with a trained armed ranger. I heard one of the wildebeests lost his/her life. They are the size of cows, and made a huddle of a tight group, hoping to avoid a death.

I think the second photo is a fine camouflage shot. Look for the hidden lion.

Trump Boasts That His Impeachment Will Get Higher TV Ratings Than All Other Impeachments - Borowitz

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt, Donald Trump boasted that, if he is impeached, the television ratings will be higher than those of any other impeachment in history.

“Everywhere I go, people tell me that if I am impeached, they’re going to watch it,” he said. “The ratings are going to be through the roof.”

He said that he expected his impeachment ratings to be “many, many times” the size of the audience for Bill Clinton’s impeachment, in 1998.

“It’s not even going to be close,” Trump said. “The ratings for Bill Clinton’s impeachment were a joke.”

Asked about the recent impeachment of the former South Korean President Park Geun-hye, Trump said, “Did anyone even watch that one? That was Korea. Nobody cares.”

As for the impeachment of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, he said, “I didn’t hear about that one. I don’t follow Brazil. I like Argentina. I saw ‘Evita’ many, many times. Andrew Lloyd Webber did a great job. Millions and millions of people loved it. But that was a Broadway show, not an impeachment.”

Even though he anticipates “just terrific” ratings for his impeachment, Trump said that he did not expect the media to provide an honest accounting of his audience size.

“They’re going to lie and say that a lot of people who watched my impeachment didn’t watch, and that’s going to be very bad and unfair, but it’s not going to change the fact that my impeachment will be a great impeachment, a really beautiful impeachment,” he said.
