About Me

I am a native Georgian who's currently hiding out in Texas. I am a liberal, and I am extremely proud of the imperfect (but evolving) republic that we call the United States of America.

Thank you.

All my instincts say we’re looking at a Biden/Harris landslide and liberal government in 2021. It will be a challenge to eliminate the filibuster, but it can be done if President Biden and Vice President Harris commit to it and TWIST all the necessary arms to make it happen—LBJ-style. Expanding the SCOTUS is a little tougher, but it can be done because it makes sense—the SCOTUS has too few judges to deal with its current caseload, and it would de-politicize the Court if it were expanded. A vacancy on a 21-member Court would not create the kind of political crisis that we now see when the Court has a single vacancy.

Give me those two things and the United States will soon make a huge, liberal leap toward achieving its declared destiny ... a land of freedom with liberty and justice FOR ALL (including economic justice).

Both candidates failed to answer the question regarding ...

... the essential nature of the relationship between the United States and China (adversary, ally, trading partner, or what?). Both candidates ducked this question. I don’t blame them for ducking the question, personally.

What do you think? What SHOULD be the essential nature of our relationship with China? How should we describe it? What should our diplomatic posture be?

Panic in the West Wing following Trump’s hospitalization for COVID-19.

’Losing their minds'

Inside the West Wing’s narrow corridors, where staffers for months have worked in proximity largely without masks, what had long been an atmosphere of invincibility turned into one of apprehension and panic. “People are losing their minds,” said the outside adviser.

First, aides fretted about their own risks of exposure. If the president got infected, so might they. Then they considered the political implications, coming so close to the Nov. 3 election. “We don’t want to be talking about coronavirus and now we’re talking about coronavirus,” the outside adviser said.

“The hit writes itself: He can’t protect the country. He couldn’t even protect himself.”

Then they considered the reality that the president could actually get very sick. Trump was unusually quiet Friday, not appearing before cameras nor even calling into Fox News Channel by phone, as he does from time to time.

Serves them right. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Trump will head to a medical center, officials say.

President Trump will be transported to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday afternoon, less than 24 hours after testing positive for the deadly coronavirus, according to the White House. Trump is struggling with a low-grade fever, a cough and nasal congestion, among other symptoms, said two officials familiar with his condition.

Trump has received an experimental “antibody cocktail” treatment, his physician said.

First lady Melania Trump said on Twitter that she has “mild symptoms” but is “overall feeling good.”

Democratic nominee Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, have both tested negative for the coronavirus, his campaign said.

Obviously, this is quite serious.

11:17 AM: McCarthy says Trump sufficiently denounced white supremacist groups during debate.

Source: Washington Post

At a news conference at the Capitol on Wednesday morning, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) defended President Trump’s comments about white supremacist organizations during the previous night’s debate, saying the president sufficiently denounced such groups.

“Well, I think the president has been very clear that he’s against anybody committing violence in the streets,” McCarthy said when asked about Trump’s remarks. He pointed to the president’s recent pledge to designate the Ku Klux Klan and the loosely organized “antifa” movement as terrorist organizations.

“I was concerned when I listened to Joe Biden try to claim that antifa was not a group,” McCarthy continued. “I don’t know what’s on the streets then. I don’t know what’s causing a lot of these problems.”

Pressed further about Trump’s comments — specifically his “stand back and stand by” remark — McCarthy doubled down on his defense of the president, saying Trump clearly denounced white supremacist groups in his initial response to moderator Chris Wallace.

More at link.

This is pathetic. The Proud Boys are celebrating. They heard Trump loud and clear.

If you can't condemn White Supremacy in the United States, in 2020, YOU SUCK!

And you have no business being in ANY position of power in this multi-racial, multi-cultural society.

That’s it. End of story.

SHELLSHOCKED after the debate? You are not alone. That was ABUSE.

Nicolle Wallace explains how Trump's debate behavior (toward Biden, Chris Wallace, the American People, and the World) was abusive, and it was intentional.

I nominate General James Mattis for Secretary of Defense in the Biden administration.

If you have read Bob Woodward’s book, Rage, you will fully understand. Mattis is a true patriot, the epitome of what it means to be a GOOD public servant and a tireless steward of America’s military might who is committed to civilian control of the military.

I don’t know whether or not this is what the author intended, but Mattis is the STAR of the first half of Woodward’s latest book.

"Superspreader" (A beautiful nod to Stevie Wonder's "Superstition")

This is insane, but it’s happening. Trump lied, and people died. He keeps lying, and more people are dying.
