Christie Pretends He's Standing Up to Trump

Tim Miller: “Like every other pathetic, podgy, scared, insecure bully who has ever disgraced a schoolyard, Chris Christie talks a big game. But when he was called upon to meet the biggest threat of his life—a doughy, soft-handed trust-fund baby with authoritarian aspirations—Christie didn’t just walk away from an argument. He waddled as fast as he could go in his urine-soaked pull-ups.”

WH: "Outside of his very active imagination, Donald Trump is no longer President"

The White House was quick to set the record straight on Thursday after former President Donald Trump claimed he had sent an “envoy ambassador” to the Kosovo-Serbia border.

“Outside of his very active imagination, Donald Trump is no longer president and doesn’t have any ‘envoy ambassadors’ representing the United States,” a White House official told reporters.

Trump released a statement earlier claiming his “envoy ambassador” Richard Grenell, a former ambassador and staunch ally, had visited the countries Thursday to highlight an economic normalization agreement his administration brokered in 2020.

It’s not the first time Trump or his allies have acted as though he is running some kind of shadow presidency. His ongoing denial and delusions over his 2020 election loss have extended to the point where he has reportedly continued to hold “Cabinet” meetings, though it’s unclear who has participated in them.

Rep Clyburn:"How are you going to let this country come down over 1 guy who's mentally challenged?"

Rep. Jim Clyburn on SiriusXM:

"How are you going to let this country come down over one guy [Trump] who's mentally challenged? And everybody knows that. And if you don't think they'd tolerate it in the presidency, now they're talking about Gosar... They're tolerant of it in him."

Robert Reich: The Real Cause of Current Inflation Is Corporate Power

The underlying structural problem isn’t that government is over-stimulating the economy. It’s that big corporations are under competitive.

Corporations are using the excuse of inflation to raise prices and make fatter profits. The result is a transfer of wealth from consumers to corporate executives and major investors.

This has nothing to do with inflation, folks. It has everything to do with the concentration of market power in a relatively few hands.

"-- well, the people were very angry," Trump replied before defending treats to "hang" Pence

Exclusive audio: Trump defends threats to "hang" Pence

Jonathan Karl: "Were you worried about him during that siege? Were you worried about his safety?"

Trump: "No, I thought he was well-protected, and I had heard that he was in good shape. No. Because I had heard he was in very good shape. But, but, no, I think — "

Karl: "Because you heard those chants — that was terrible. I mean — "

Trump: "He could have — well, the people were very angry."

Karl: "They were saying 'hang Mike Pence.'"

Trump: "Because it's common sense, Jon. It's common sense that you're supposed to protect. How can you — if you know a vote is fraudulent, right? — how can you pass on a fraudulent vote to Congress?" Trump asked. "How can you do that? And I'm telling you: 50/50, it's right down the middle for the top constitutional scholars when I speak to them. Anybody I spoke to — almost all of them at least pretty much agree, and some very much agree with me — because he's passing on a vote that he knows is fraudulent. How can you pass a vote that you know is fraudulent? Now, when I spoke to him, I really talked about all of the fraudulent things that happened during the election. I didn't talk about the main point, which is the legislatures did not approve — five states. The legislatures did not approve all of those changes that made the difference between a very easy win for me in the states, or a loss that was very close, because the losses were all very close."

Hard to believe the Oath Keepers don't keep their words when it comes to paying bills.

The lawyer for Oath Keepers in a Jan 6 civil lawsuit wants to drop out as their attorney, saying "there has been a breakdown of communication" with the group and they haven't paid legal fees or costs and haven't indicated when they would do so.
