First, she compared herself to Jesus. Asked about her reputation for being rather a ‘divisive’ figure on the right of US politics, Coulter replied:
“Yeah, I’m ‘divisive’ because I say things I believe, generally. So does Jesus.”
But her delusions of grandure also extend to her favorite candidate, Donald Trump.
“We are talking about the future of not only of America but of the last genuinely Christian country on earth and thus the world. If we lose America, it is lights out for the entire world for a thousand years.
It is like the fall of Rome but, thank God, and I am not using the Lord’s name in vain, I mean that absolutely literally, thank God for raising up Donald Trump and giving us a chance to save the country.
Unless Donald Trump is elected, we’re never going to have another Republican president.”
So firstly, in the gospel according to Ann Coulter, it is prophesied that the failure of Donald Trump to win the GOP primaries would mean no Republican in the White House ever again. As good a reason as any for kicking the trust fund tycoon out of the race. But every cake needs a cherry on top, and this came in the form of Coulter’s reaction when asked what she would do if Trump loses.
She vows she would “stop wasting my time with politics.” That’s right America, political commentary would be Coulter-less, permanently. Ann sees no point continuing her quest without the bright star of Trump to follow.
“What is the point of talking about abortion or anything else unless you get Donald Trump in to build the wall, deport illegals, end this ‘anchor baby’ nonsense, stop importing 100,000 Muslims a year, in addition to two million Third Worlders per year,”

Muslim Man Beaten Up in NYC By Assailants Chanting ‘ISIS’

A Muslim man dressed in South Asian garb was attacked in a possible hate crime in New York City Friday by teenage suspects chanting “ISIS.”
43-year-old Mujibur Rahman was walking with his nine-year-old niece in the Bronx while wearing a traditional South Asian tunic called a halwar kameez. The two youths jumped him, yelling “ISIS” and “Muslim” while doling out blows. Rahman went to the hospital to receive treatment and has since been released.
The young girl was unharmed but traumatized by the attack. “She could not sleep at night,” Rahman told NY1 using a translator. “She said she didn’t want to go back to school anymore. Really in fear.”
The NYPD is investigating the attack as a hate crime. The Islamic advocacy group CAIR has called for the FBI to also get involved in the investigation.

The question for progressives — a question that is now central to the Democratic primary — is whether these failings mean that they should re-litigate their own biggest political success in almost half a century, and try for something better.
My answer, as you might guess, is that they shouldn’t, that they should seek incremental change on health care (Bring back the public option!) and focus their main efforts on other issues .....................................

What this means, as the health policy expert Harold Pollack points out, is that a simple, straightforward single-payer system just isn’t going to happen. Even if you imagine a political earthquake that eliminated the power of the insurance industry and objections to higher taxes, you’d still have to protect the interests of workers with better-than-average coverage, so that in practice single-payer, American style, would be almost as kludgy as Obamacare.
Which brings me to the Affordable Care Act, which was designed to bypass these obstacles. It was careful to preserve and even enlarge the role of private insurers. Its measures to cover the uninsured rely on a combination of regulation and subsidies, rather than simply on an expansion of government programs, so that the on-budget cost is limited — and can, in fact, be covered without raising middle-class taxes. Perhaps most crucially, it leaves employer-based insurance intact, so that the great majority of Americans have experienced no disruption, in fact no change in their health-care experience.
Even so, achieving this reform was a close-run thing: Democrats barely got it through during the brief period when they controlled Congress. Is there any realistic prospect that a drastic overhaul could be enacted any time soon — say, in the next eight years? No.

Would fairytales really have happier endings if there were more guns involved?
The NRA has suggested that putting guns into the hands of children is a good idea by publishing “Little Red Riding Hood (Has a Gun)” -- a modified fairytale that depicts an armed Red and her armed grandmother successfully defending themselves against the Big Bad Wolf.
The NRA Family site notes that the story, published last week, is just the first in a series of reimagined fairytales by author Amelia Hamilton, and promises that there are more revamped, gun-heavy classics to come.

Curiously, the Big Bad Wolf himself -- who is obviously a career criminal, if you’re to believe fairytale canon -- is not armed in this version of the tale. In the new version, Granny has plenty of time to slowly back up and grab her shotgun, but the NRA doesn’t explore what would happen if the Big Bad Wolf showed up at the door wielding a firearm himself. (And before you say wolves can’t shoot or obtain guns, this is a wolf who can speak perfect English and semi-convincingly impersonate a human, so in this fantasy NRA world there’s no reason to believe he wouldn’t be able to get his paws on a firearm.)
Many were quick to point out that Little Red Riding Hood is far from the only fairytale that could have ended WILDLY differently if more guns had been involved. Using the hashtag #NRAFairyTales, people explored the many possibilities on Twitter.
