David Lynch rebuffs Trump: "If you continue as you have been, you will not have a chance to go down

David Lynch rebuffs Trump: "If you continue as you have been, you will not have a chance to go down in history as a great president. This would be very sad it seems for you – and for the country. You are causing suffering and division." https://bit.ly/2tEVCeM

The 'civility' debate isn't about language, it's about power

by: Mark Sumner

...the demand being made for “civility” isn’t about language at all. It’s about throwing a ring of protection around the powerful. It’s about pretending that people whose actions wreck millions of lives on a whim, are cocooned from the consequences of their actions, not just because they have money, and connections, and resources, but because their power puts them on a different plane.

The idea that “politics” represents some kind of insulating blanket, that someone should be able to take any action in the service of a political office, then stroll out into the street and be treated with cheery “civility,” giving no consequence to what they’ve done in their day job, is not just foolish. It’s dangerous. That’s not civility. That’s royalty.

We can either have civility or civil rights. We can no longer have both.

“If we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance along with it.”
- Karl Popper, 1945

Nothing says freedom like jailing little Hispanic kids.

Taking off to Brazil — on my 3rd trip to Latin America as Vice President. Look forward to working w/ allies to put pressure on the Maduro regime to restore democracy for the Venezuelan people. @POTUS & I are committed to ensuring the Western Hemisphere is a hemisphere of FREEDOM.

How about restoring democracy in our own country Pence?

London Underground Tube drivers to strike during

Drivers on parts of London Underground are to strike on the day of US President Donald Trump’s visit to the capital next month, in a row over working conditions and staffing.

RMT union members on the Piccadilly Line - which moves half a million passengers a day and links central London to Heathrow Airport - will strike between 9pm on Wednesday 11 July and 1am on Saturday 14 July.

Trump’s three day visit is due to begin late on Thursday 12 July.

The RMT accused London Underground of failing to employ enough drivers, continued problems with the “ageing” Piccadilly Line fleet and the alleged breaking of ‎agreements.

RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said: “There have been repeated problems on the Piccadilly Line going back a number of years which have led to dispute after dispute and the failure of LU management to get a grip has tipped the situation over the edge yet again. That is why we have had no option but to put on these strike dates.

Just so everybody is clear:

When a person is lying, attacking the FBI, making false accusations, emboldening Nazis, race baiting, and abusing children:

It means that they are not a good person and protesting them is taking the high road.

Say it louder for the people in the back.....MELANIA TRUMP was a birther....

Harley-Davidson develops bone spurs

Surprised that Harley-Davidson, of all companies, would be the first to wave the White Flag. I fought hard for them and ultimately they will not pay tariffs selling into the E.U., which has hurt us badly on trade, down $151 Billion. Taxes just a Harley excuse - be patient! #MAGA

ACLU of OR won temporary restraining order to allow immigrant detainees access to lawyers

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The American Civil Liberties Union of Oregon won a temporary restraining order to allow immigrant detainees in Sheridan prison access to lawyers.

The decision made on Monday in federal court comes after the rights group filed an emergency suit on Friday against top officials of U.S. immigration and homeland security departments. The lawsuit alleges that they have unconstitutionally denied lawyers' access to immigrants at the Sheridan Detention Facility.

The ACLU lawyers expect to go to Sheridan on Tuesday to start preliminary meetings with the detainees.

A total of 123 immigrants were recently transferred to the facility by ICE because other holding facilities have been overloaded since the Trump administration in April enacted a "zero tolerance" policy against people entering the country illegally.

Jimmy Fallon: "Donald, I don't know if you've seen my ratings the past 2 years, but you didn't help"

Fallon says Trump was lying when he claimed Fallon called him to say his episode got big ratings. (Boy Scouts, president of Mexico, news anchors, probably US Steel -- Trump is often lying when he says someone called or wrote him to give him a compliment.)

"I've never called this human in my life,” Jimmy Fallon said of Trump suggesting that the host called to say he got “monster ratings” thanks to him. "By the way, Donald, I don't know if you've seen my ratings the past two years, but you didn't help."
