NBC/WSJ poll: Gingrich leads Romney; Obama leads Romney and crushes Gingrich

Mr. McInturff's message to the GOP contenders: "You are not going to get elected simply by being the option to the president."

Mr. Hart had a similar assessment. "This is a great start for Obama with a lot of work to be done for the Republicans," he said. "The Republican primary is hurting them, and the improving economy is helping Obama."

“Lessons Learned the Hard Way.”

Mr. Gingrich, Democrats and Republicans here agree, emerged as one of Washington’s most aggressive practitioners of slash-and-burn politics; many fault him for erasing whatever civility once existed in the capital. He believed, and preached, that harsh language could win elections; in 1990, the political action committee he ran, Gopac, instructed Republican candidates to learn to “speak like Newt,” and offered a list of words to describe Democrats — like decay, traitors, radical, sick, destroy, pathetic, corrupt and shame.

FACT CHECK: Some Romney Housing Investments Were Not in Blind Trust

CAMPAIGN 2012
FACT CHECK: Some Romney Housing Investments Were Not in Blind Trust

In Thursday night's CNN debate, Newt Gingrich accused Mitt Romney of making investments that fueled the housing crisis.

“He has an investment in Goldman Sachs, which is, today, foreclosing on Floridians,” Gingrich said. “Maybe he should tell us how much money he's made off of how many households that have been foreclosed by his investments.”

Romney answered the charge this way: “First of all, my investments are not made by me. My investments for the last ten years have been in a blind trust, managed by a trustee. Secondly, the investments that they made, we learned about this, as we made our financial disclosure, had been in mutual funds and bonds. I don't own stock in either. There are bonds that the investor has held through mutual funds.”

Yet, according to Romney's financial disclosure forms, not all of his mutual funds were part of a blind trust.
The Boston Globe reported in September that Romney owned between $250,001 and $500,000 in a mutual fund called the Government Obligation Fund that invests in debt notes of various government entities, including mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and he made between $15,001 and $50,000 in interest from those investments.

What did you do in the last three years at your job?

Mitt Romney can't claim to "know how to invest" when he isn't the one who is doing the investing. Maybe the dude doing Mitt's investing should run for President?

Mitt Romney claims he is "not responsible" for:

- his Iran Oil investments, (Gazprom, Lukoil, Sinopec)
- his investments that funded Iranian Militants, (his Swiss Bank)
- Omissions from his Financial Disclosure form,
- his investments in Fannie and Freddie,
- falsely saying Fannie and Freddie were in a blind trust,
- stashing millions in foreign countries to avoid paying US Taxes,
- not know his net worth.

How can Mitt even claim to be a successful "investor" when he doesn't even take responsibility for his own investments?

Here is what Romney said in 1994 about blind trusts.

"The blind trust is an age-old ruse," Romney told the Boston Globe in October of that year.

"You give a blind trust rules. You can say to a blind trust, don't invest in properties which would be in conflict of interest or where the seller might think they're going to get an advantage from me."

Romney vs. the rest of us

note to CNN

the music sucks

Drudge is now The Establishment.

Drudge is now The Establishment.

. ............it's becoming a Limbaugh-Drudge war as well. One suspects the influence of anti-Newt drag queen, Coulter. Rush blames the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy:

Rush Limbaugh, on his radio show on Thursday, also took note of the headlines, calling it a “coordinated” effort to smear Mr. Gingrich. “Now, when I saw all it is stuff — and obviously it’s a coordinated document dump here, opposition research dump. It’s obviously coordinated.”

For the last 48 hours, the conservative Web site led by Matt Drudge has become a virtual campaign arm for Mitt Romney, featuring huge, screaming headlines about Mr. Gingrich and his past.

That prompted conservatives who support Mr. Gingrich to accuse Mr. Drudge of selling out to the Republican establishment — many of whom have come to Mr. Romney’s aid as the battle with Mr. Gingrich has heated up.
