Why Liberals (And not-so liberals) are against President Trump.
A.) He lies. A LOT. Politifact rates 69% of the words he speaks as Mostly False or worse Only 17% of the things he says get a Mostly True or better rating. That is an absolutely unbelievable number. How he doesnt speak more truth by mistake is beyond me. To put it in context, Obamas rating was 26% mostly false or worse, and I had a problem with that. Many of Trumps former business associates report that he has always been a compulsive liar, but now hes the President of the United States, and thats a problem. And this is a man who expects you to believe him when he points at other people and says Theyre lying
B.) Hes an authoritarian populist, not a conservative. He advances regressive social policy while proposing to expand federal spending and federalist authority over states, both of which conservatives are supposed to hate.
C.) He pretends at Christianity to court the Religious Right but fails to live anything resembling a Christ-Like Life.
D.) His nationalist America First message effectively alienates us and removes us from our place as leaders in the international community.
E.) His ideas on Keeping us safe are all thinly veiled ideas to remove our freedoms, he is, after all, an authoritarian first. They also are simply bad ideas.
F.) He couldnt pass a 3rd-grade civics exam. He doesn't know what hes doing. He doesn't understand how international relations work, he doesnt understand how federal state or local governments work, and every time someone tries to Run it like a business its a spectacular failure. See Colorado Springs recent history as an example. The Short, Unhappy Life of a Libertarian Paradise And that was a businessman with a MUCH better business track record than Trump. We are talking about a man who lost money owning a freaking gambling casino.

Why are people so hostile towards President Donald Trump?
Why are people so hostile towards President Donald Trump?

Ill take a stab at this. Before you pass my answer off as Another Liberal Snowflake consider that 1.) I'm an independent centrist who has voted Republican way more often in my life than Democrat, and 2.) if you want to call someone who spent the entire decade of his 20s serving in the Marine Corps a snowflake, Id be ready to answer the question what did you do with your 20s?

GOP Fundraising Email Darkened Kaepernick's Skin
So they're using Kaepernick and felt compelled to darken his skin in a fund raiser? Desperate much?

GOP Fundraising Email Darkened Kaepernicks Skin
July 11, 2019 at 10:23 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
Yahoo News: Former NFL star Colin Kaepernick did not look like himself in a fundraising email that was sent by the National Republican Congressional Committee on Wednesday. The message included a picture of Kaepernick that appeared noticeably altered to make his skin darker, an attack ad tactic that has been used before and is considered by many as racist.

White House Kills Plan to Lower Drug Prices
July 11, 2019 at 10:31 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
The Trump administration pulled one of its key proposals to lower drug prices that would have eliminated rebates to middlemen in Medicare, which President Trumps top health official had touted as one of the most significant changes to curb medicine costs for consumers, the Washington Post reports.
The rule is the second major drug pricing effort to get blocked this week, complicating the administrations efforts to make lowering prescription medicine costs a key 2020 presidential campaign issue.

ACLU Filed Motion To Block Trump Citizenship Question Executive Action
Trump is trying to get around the Supreme Court with executive action on Census citizenship question, but the ACLU already filed a preemptive motion to block Trump.
Trump executive action is an admission that he has no valid reason for including the citizenship question in the Census. The president is going to try an end around, but his executive order is going to result in more court cases and delay. The Census is being printed right now. It is possible if his executive action dragged out in court that the forms could already be mailed before the case is decided.
The House has promised to block any funding for a Trump Census do-over, so Trump wont have the funds to do another Census.
This is a presidential tantrum that is going nowhere. Trumps executive action is going to backfire on him and prevent the citizenship question from being included in the Census.

ACLU Filed Motion To Block Trump Citizenship Question Executive Action
Trump is trying to get around the Supreme Court with executive action on Census citizenship question, but the ACLU already filed a preemptive motion to block Trump.
ACLU Voting Right Project Director Dale Ho told MSNBC, We have a pending motion in the lawsuit we filed to permanently prevent the administration from adding a citizenship question based on their repeated representations that June 30th was the, quote, drop-dead date for changes to the census questionnaire. So that motion is going to be heard in federal court in about a week and a half. Theres pending proceedings in the federal court in Maryland about whether or not this attempt by the administration was motivated by a desire to weaken the political influence of Hispanic communities. Yes, I think if the administration does, in fact, come forward with a new decision, Trump adding a citizenship question youll see more action by the ACLU.

The Many Lessons of Megan Rapinoe

Mercy.
As I write this, Trump has yet to respond to Rapinoe's message, and we know he wants to. Megan Rapinoe is virtually everything Donald Trump hates in a woman.
She is strong.
She is loud, and outspoken.
She swaggers and swears, and wears her hair in colors dictated by whim, not Vogue.
She is openly gay and a tireless champion for LGBTQ rights and civil rights. She has kneeled during the playing of the national anthem in solidarity with black Americans and refused to sing the song at the World Cup. She knows that patriotism is not obedience, but rather an opportunity to help our country live up to its promises.
snip//
"It's our responsibility," she said, "to make the world a better place."
She ended her speech with a swear word, which set Twitter on fire again, in a good way.
You see why he hates her.
Which brings us to one more reason why Rapinoe is inspiring. Her every public moment is a tutorial for girls and women on how to handle guys who try to shame or bully us. This happens only with our consent, and on that, Megan Rapinoe's message is clear:
Permission denied.
Swear if you want to.

"I think that I would say that your message is excluding people. You're excluding me. You're excluding people that look like me. You're excluding people of color. You're excluding, you know, Americans that maybe support you.
"I think that we need to have a reckoning with the message that you have, and what you're saying about Make America Great Again. I think that you're harking back to an era that was not great for everyone. It might have been great for a few people and maybe America is great for a few people right now, but it's not great for enough Americans in this world, and I think we have a responsibility, each and every one of us, you have an incredible responsibility as, you know, the chief of this country to take care of every single person, and you need to do better for everyone."

Trump has reportedly asked aides to find a way to weaken the US dollar
Published Wed, Jul 10 2019 7:45 AM EDTUpdated Wed, Jul 10 2019 5:00 PM EDT

Key Points
President Donald Trump has reportedly asked aides to find a way to weaken the U.S. dollar in an effort to boost the economy ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
The president also asked about the greenback while interviewing Federal Reserve Board nominees Judy Shelton and Christopher Waller, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg News.
Those individuals also told Bloomberg that Trumps chief economic advisor, Larry Kudlow, and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin disapprove of the idea of government tampering to weaken the dollar. Traditionally, past administrations have always maintained publicly they were for a strong dollar because dollar assets like Treasurys are so widely held around the globe.
Trump has often bemoaned the relative strength of the U.S. dollar in foreign exchange markets, blaming other nations for devaluing their currencies and thereby inflating the American trade deficit. Last week, the president said in a tweet that the U.S. should match China and Europes currency manipulation game.

Washington Post: Pelosi has also shown little regard for Trumps top deputies. She has been unsparing in her public criticisms of Mulvaney. At one point during a budget negotiation in May, Pelosi snubbed acting budget director Russell Vought when he spoke up to reiterate a point. Turning to Vought, Pelosi asked, What was your name again, dear?

Buttigieg details plan targeting systemic racism
By Chris Mills Rodrigo - 07/11/19 07:45 AM EDT
White House hopeful Pete Buttigieg on Thursday unveiled new details of a plan aimed at tackling "racist structures and systems, promising to invest in policies to help African Americans.
Dubbed the Douglass Plan, after abolitionist Frederick Douglass, the policy would combat systemic inequalities by reforming health care, education, entrepreneurship, criminal justice and voting rights on a federal level.
Buttigieg first outlined the plan a month ago in an op-ed for the Charleston Chronicle in South Carolina.
Buttigieg's campaign on Thursday said he would increase federal resources for historically black colleges and universities and other minority institutions by $25 billion, eliminate mandatory minimum sentences and set a goal of tripling black entrepreneurs within a decade.

Miami-Dade students' letters of hope for children at the Homestead detention facility were rejected by workers. NBC 6's Willard Shepard reports.
(Published Tuesday, July 2, 2019)
Letters written by South Florida school kids for the children at the migrant detention facility in Homestead were rejected by the workers running the facility, according to the Miami-Dade teachers union president.
United Teachers of Dade president Karla Hernandez-Mats said she thought getting a letter from the outside was completely harmless and would be an inspiration for the 2,700 youngsters inside the facility. So Miami-Dade students used crayons markers and pens to write them letters but when teachers brought them to the camp, they were rejected by those who are running the facility for the federal government, Hernandez-Mats said.
Hernandez-Mats said students had been asked to write the letters shortly before school ended for the summer for the children at the camp, which became a must-stop destination for Democrats in Miami for last week's debates.
"We had hundreds of letters come in, hundreds of letters from students and they are so pure of heart," she told NBC 6.
The letters contained drawings and messages like "my heart goes out to you" and "love you, have hope."
"It was really nice messages of children speaking to other children, letting them know like 'we want to give you hope, everything is going to be ok and we are sorry this is happening to you,'" Hernandez-Mats said.

The Justice Department is seeking to discourage Robert Muellers deputies from testifying before Congress, potentially jeopardizing an agreement for two of the former prosecutors to answer lawmakers questions in private next week, the New York Times reports.
It is unclear what effect the Justice Departments intervention will have on the mens eventual appearances, but it raises the prospect that a deal lawmakers thought they had struck last month for testimony from Mr. Mueller, the former special counsel, and the two prosecutors could still unravel.
