Probe of missing Georgia votes finds 'extreme' irregularities in black districts

https://www.alternet.org/2019/08/probe-of-missing-georgia-votes-finds-extreme-irregularities-in-black-districts/?fbclid=IwAR2lKVrZPNZsGZvwSMrreWOcdsMEVplQzmb_M6DbjGIbYW9Rk3RK8Hd90kQ

A trove of documents turned over in a congressional probe of missing votes in Georgia’s lieutenant governor race — along with other voting issues — revealed serious irregularities.

The House Oversight and Reform Committee is investigating whether voting machine errors caused a large drop-off in votes in the lieutenant governor race between Democrat Sarah Riggs Amico and Republican Geoff Duncan, who won the election by about 123,000 votes. The probe is looking at why so many fewer votes were recorded in the race compared to other statewide races, as well as the voter suppression issues that plagued the 2018 state elections.

There were 159,000 fewer votes cast in the lieutenant governor race than in the gubernatorial race between Democrat Stacey Abrams and Republican Brian Kemp. While it is common for down-ballot races to see fewer votes, the lieutenant governor race had twice as much drop-off as other statewide races, even though it was the second race on the ballot, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

There were 80,000 fewer votes cast for lieutenant governor than in other down-ballot races, which represents a 4 percent drop-off from the gubernatorial race, compared to a 2 percent drop-off among even less charismatic down-ballot races. For various reasons, this appears illogical. Historically, the lieutenant governor race has had a much lower drop-off rate than other statewide races in previous elections.

More at link. In Florida we have seen these "undervotes" since 2000. There have been a number analyses that showed republican manipulations (it's always the GOP who win by a little), and often it's down ballot races too. With the GOP and Russians in cahoots together, it's an election nightmare. I wish the debates would focus more not election integrity.

For whatever reason, the hurricane is still heading due West and aimed at Mar-a-largo...

If it doesn't turn, it will be a bullseye.

Crossing over Grand Bahama Island now.

MSNBC just announced a disclaimer that MF45 said "Alabama" was going to be hit by Dorian...

but the NWS says that's not possible. Meanwhile, MF45 said he, "had never heard of a force 5 storm"...but someone had a quote from him from 2017 saying he had never heard of a "5" storm...so he forgot that he didn't know what he had never heard of before!!!

Trump's Mar-a-Lago is in the projected path of Hurricane Dorian

https://www.tampabay.com/hurricane/2019/08/29/trumps-mar-a-lago-is-in-the-projected-path-of-hurricane-dorian/?fbclid=IwAR3aYKrjUXGDGIYximZPn-XczlsGpYefsveZrW-6Qk5fjJ_sZnA_-CQe5Mw

Hurricane Dorian is threatening to strike Florida near Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump’s prized South Florida resort.

The storm is projected to make landfall as a Category 4 hurricane on Monday, with Melbourne as the most likely landing spot. That’s about 115 miles north of Palm Beach, where Trump’s ocean-front hotel is situated. Mar-a-Lago remains in the “cone of uncertainty" — the range of potential paths the hurricane could take as it strengthens in the Caribbean.

The U.S. Secret Service declined to respond to questions about any security measures taken at Mar-a-Lago during an extreme weather event and directed questions to the resort. The Trump Organization and the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“It will be a very big Hurricane, perhaps one of the biggest!” Trump wrote.

Mystery of missing votes deepens as Congress investigates Georgia

https://www.ajc.com/news/state--regional-govt--politics/mystery-missing-votes-deepens-congress-investigates-georgia/x4OTY0ylxfA0Z0Rg6wjkyN/?fbclid=IwAR2kc0MQSGmJ1-0N4crzQmDvtkbYvO45n_6zCxJmCMsT7qg19vxEw7Vh2fg#

To find a clue about what might have gone wrong with Georgia’s election last fall, look no further than voting machine No. 3 at the Winterville Train Depot outside Athens.

On machine No. 3, Republicans won every race. On each of the other six machines in that precinct, Democrats won every race.

Even though it was the second race on the ballot, fewer votes were counted for lieutenant governor than for labor commissioner, insurance commissioner and every other statewide contest lower on the ballot. Roughly 80,000 fewer votes were counted for lieutenant governor than in other down-ballot elections.

We've seen these anomalies in Florida since 2000. Unless we can get election integrity, the Russian/Repubs will continue to "win".

Don't bother with Morning Joke....

...and I usually avoid it anyway, but happened to tune in at the beginning today. Nothing but hyper criticism of Democratic candidates.

Why can't MSNBC get a different morning show? Most of the evening line up is OK (even though tweety is pretty hard to take), but MJ is just awful.

...heading to CNN and the local news now...then off to work!

Man who gained notoriety for Busch Gardens flamingo death is killed in Orlando collision

https://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/man-who-gained-notoriety-for-busch-gardens-flamingo-death-killed-in-orlando-collision-20190625/

A man who drew the anger of animal rights advocates after he was accused of causing the death of a beloved Busch Gardens flamingo has died.

Joseph Corrao, 48, was killed June 5 when he was struck by a pickup truck while crossing a busy road near his home in Orlando, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A crash report says Corrao was walking north across State Road 50, near Story Partin Road in Orange County, shortly before 6 a.m. A Ford F-150 pickup was heading east and hit him. Rescue personnel took Corrao to Florida Hospital East, where he died.

The crash occurred about two months before Corrao was set to go to trial on an animal cruelty charge. He gained notoriety in August 2016 after he was accused in the death of Pinky. The flamingo delighted Busch Gardens patrons with its dance moves and served as one of the theme park's animal ambassadors.

Last week, prosecutors filed a formal notice that they had dropped the criminal charge upon learning of his death.
