Obama takes the lead electorially

If Obama is reelected, it will be a rejection of hate!

The republicans have spent the last 4 years hating Obama and this election should be a rejection of that rhetoric.

I hope it tells them they have to change their ways.

Just returned from monitorting a line at a polling location.

Suburban Cleveland (Lora in County).

The wait was more than an hour, I could not get inside the building but apparently there was a problem with several machines.

I was there just to persuaded people to stay in the building, once they left after 7:30 they could not get back in.

I stayed until the line was beyond my sights.

If Romney steals this election as I suspect they will try, it will be the coronation of a criminal..

bigger that Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George Bush combined.

A tax evading, draft dodging bully in the White House!

If we let these criminals steal our democracy for a third time, this nation will be domed to fascism for all time. There will be no return, we will see a recession that will surpass the last great recession and possibly even the depression. People will be forced to live in the street in unprecedented numbers and wages will plummet to their lowest level since Ronald Reagan took office. Unemployment will be the normal form a majority of Americans. This time, there will be no security nets, as they will bust Social Security and vouchered Medicare for those already receiving it and the rest will no longer be eligible. Forget about retirement, you will be working until you die.

This nation will be plunged into more war and vulnerable to more terrorist attacks.

Women will be raped and forced to carry the baby to term.

Education will be reserved for the wealthiest among us.

Romney is here to finish the job that Richard Nixon was thwarted from and which Ronald Reagan started. The oligarchs will not stop until they have taken it all.

Sound pretty bleak, doesn't it, but it is all likely to happen if the tax evading, draft dodging, bully criminal Romney becomes President.

What will you do to prevent this from happening?

It takes a hurricane for the Mayor of New York to realize there are homeless?

“We don’t have a lot of empty housing in this city,” Mr. Bloomberg said at a news conference on Sunday. “We are not going to let anybody go sleeping in the streets or go without blankets, but it’s a challenge, and we’re working on that as fast as we can.”

New York City officials said on Sunday that they faced the daunting challenge of finding homes for as many as 40,000 people who were left homeless after the devastation of last week’s storm, a situation that the city’s mayor, Michael R. Bloomberg, compared to New Orleans’s after Hurricane Katrina.

The mayor said that the 40,000 figure was the worst possible case given by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and that a more realistic assessment was 20,000 people — most of them residents of public housing. Even in the best possible case, he said, the task will be formidable.

“We don’t have a lot of empty housing in this city,” Mr. Bloomberg said at a news conference on Sunday. “We are not going to let anybody go sleeping in the streets or go without blankets, but it’s a challenge, and we’re working on that as fast as we can.”

It is a task shared throughout the region, as officials in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut struggle to meet the demands of those whose homes have been left uninhabitable. In some cases, the solution may be a familiar, if unwelcome sight: the trailers provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency after Hurricane Katrina.

Not to detract from the plight of the people of New York and New Jersey, I just wonder if he realizes there were people sleeping on the street before the storm?

Ex-mayor erects statue of himself at Michigan home

Former Flint mayor's bronze statue is surrounded by six lions.

DAVISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The former mayor of Flint, Mich., who resigned in 2009 while facing a recall has erected a bronze statue of himself outside the gated entrance to his home.

The Flint Journal reports that the statue of Don Williamson in Genesee County's Davison Township, near Flint, is surrounded by six bronze lions.

On the base of the statue are the words: "The Colonel's Inc. Founded by Donald J. Williamson May 10, 1984. His motto 'Success is the best revenge.'"

Williamson says the statue was made 20 years ago and was originally displayed at The Colonel's Inc., the auto parts firm where he made his fortune.

Ohio’s Ballot Woes Could Delay Election Results For Weeks

Pollsters and pundits have trained their eyes on Ohio, where President Obama maintains a narrow lead over Mitt Romney just days before the election. According to exit polls, Obama’s lead is even stronger among early voters. But several recent developments threaten to disenfranchise many of these voters and plunge Ohio into a bureaucratic nightmare on election night.

The Columbus Dispatch reported on Thursday that a data-sharing glitch and mistakes by election officials have caused thousands of absentee ballot requests to be rejected. While Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted maintains that this was a computer error, the Northeast Ohio Voter Advocates found an abnormally high rate of rejected absentee ballot requests in Cuyahoga County, a Democratic stronghold that includes Cleveland. The Cuyahoga Board of Elections determined that 865 ballot requests had been erroneously thrown out.

If these voters try to cast their vote in person, they will likely be forced to use a provisional ballot, as the absentee ballot error has thrown their registration status into question. At least 4,500 registered voters across the state will be left waiting for their absentee ballots, while as many as 6,000 provisional ballots cast by registered voters could be tossed out. The provisional ballots that do not get thrown out won’t be counted until November 17, according to state law, further dragging out the confusion.

This absentee ballot fiasco is just the latest in Ohio’s dysfunctional election saga. On Wednesday, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals allowed Husted to discount ballots cast by people directed to the wrong polling station by a pollworker — one of the most common errors that led to thousands of votes getting thrown out in Ohio’s dysfunctional 2004 presidential election.
