Bill Maher And Congressman Give Tea Partier Lesson In Obamacare (VIDEO)

Bill Maher: I want to correct this one idea they have, that Americans donít like Obamacare, because I see this poll all the time. 54% of Americans are against Obamacare. Not really true, because 16% of that 54% want it to be more Left. They want single payer. So itís really only 38% of the people who are on your team (Tea Party Team).

Matt Kibbe: I donít think thatís right.

Bill Maher: No, that is right. Those are facts. We are not arguing opinion now. Those are the facts.

Rep. Alan Grayson: And these are people who recognize that there are fundamental, how should I put this, conflict of interest between you and your insurance company. Even if we switch to no government involvement at all, people would still get insurance and they would be in a situation where every time you needed care you would be taking money out of the pockets, the profit of your insurance company. And we havenít taken a step beyond that. But Obamacare does do useful things. Itís put 4 million people who are up to the age of 26 on the rolls by joining their parentsí plans. Itís closed 3/4 of the donut hole so seniors donít have to choose between their medicines and pay their rent. It has taken 35 million people including my wife by the way, 35 million people who couldnít get insurance because of pre-existing conditions, now they can. And now, insurance companies if you have expensive care canít literally pull the plug on you when you are in a coma. Those are all good things. And those are all things that the Tea Party is desperate to eliminate.

The DU of old - where everyone here is focused on one thing - Republicans

A few months ago, we were all at each others throats attacking Obama or the Democrats because we didn't like what they said or threatened to do. There was much infighting going on with nothing constructive happening. I know I was up to my eyeballs with the attitudes of people here, posting was like walking on egg-shells, one side or the other would attack everything you said.

That all has passed, if not for only a moment, in light of what the republicans have allowed the tea party to do to this country. We are all once again focused on one common nemesis, the republican party.

This is what DU was created for to fight for Democratic Principles. How refreshing!

Now lets KICK SOME ASS!!!!

Encountered a teabagger today

I was filling my car with gas today when the attendant came by and struck up a conversation about how I was one the few who followed the signs and entered from the right direction. I mentioned another establishment didn't have problems getting people to enter from one direction. This led to him saying his employer wouldn't spend any money to control traffic, this led into his bashing his employer because they cut everyone's hours to avoid Obama are.

The next sentence out of his mouth gave him away. He said "he shouldn't be forced to buy healthcare."

Then I lost it! Really, I said, you are required to buy car insurance, why not healthcare? He said you don't have to buy car insurance but there was a penalty if you don't. I said yeah, ask the uninsured woman who hit me several months ago. I then said it was wrong that I have to carry uninsured motorist because people don't buy insurance, then before he could respond, I said, who do think pays for those who don't have health insurance -- ME! I pay for all of those ER visits through higher cost at the doctor, hospital and insurance.

He turned and walked away. Hopefully it soaked in. The stupid, it hurts!

OPED - NY Times: THE government shutdown is the work of the so-called kamikaze caucus of about 40

Tea Party Republicans in the House of Representatives.

Op-Ed Contributor

The Moderates Who Lighted the Fuse

WASHINGTON ó THE government shutdown is the work of the so-called kamikaze caucus of about 40 Tea Party Republicans in the House of Representatives. But why is the body of the Republican Party in thrall to its erratic right foot? Maybe the real blame should go to the far more numerous non-Tea Party Republicans, from Speaker John A. Boehner down, who have been unable or unwilling to restrain the radicals.

Behind this question lies another. Why are Republican legislators like Peter T. King of New York and Devin Nunes of California unwittingly repeating the errors of a previous generation of moderate Republicans who elevated Newt Gingrich to party leadership?

It was Mr. Gingrich who pioneered the political dysfunction we still live with. His inflammatory rhetoric provided a model for the grandstanding guerrilla warfare of Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. And his actions ó particularly his move to shut down the government in 1995 and 1996 ó undermined popular trust and ushered in the present political era of confrontation and obstruction.

But hereís the catch: Mr. Gingrich, of Georgia, rose to party leadership because he was the preferred candidate of the moderates themselves.

The Republican Party wonít change course until the Gingrich strategy for winning House elections stops working.

Another myth busted: Will doctors be required to ask patients questions about their sexual history?

Will doctors be required to ask patients questions about their sexual history under the Affordable Care Act?

Q: Will doctors be required to ask patients questions about their sexual history under the Affordable Care Act?

A: No. A program created by the stimulus law Ė not Obamacare ó encourages health professionals to use electronic records. But there is no requirement in the program to ask anything about sexual history.

For a program that teabaggers said "SUCKS" there is a lot of activity on the AHC site

They are reporting the site is busy on the stoopid tube which means a lot of people are signing up.
