About Me

I've been a female working a "man's job" (mechanical engineer), stay at home Mom (6 kids), working Mom (6 kids to put through college), unemployed, underemployed, temporarily employed and now working from home! We live on an old, small farm with 2 dogs and 2 cats in the house, variable number of chickens out in the yard.

Things I worry about more than the NSA:

Will my kids get jobs?

Will they and I be able to pay off their student loans?

Will the weather turn really, really ugly the next few years?

What is the sequester doing to people?

What is the sequester doing to the economy?

So now, opponents (AKA bigots) are accusing the media of being biased in favor

of legalizing same sex marriage.

I suppose 50 years ago, these same people felt the media was biased in favor of Civil Rights!

China, Russia and Snowden: It might be fun for China and Russia to tweak America's nose

by refusing to return Snowden, but it should be remembered that both these countries are dealing with the same terrorists as the US.

Would someone who is following the trial more closely than i tell me

whether the timeline has been examined - who was doing what, where and when? I would think if Zimmerman parked his truck and went after Martin, it's case closed!

Clinical trial for Sjogren's Syndrome recruitig volunteers:

The purpose of the study is to find out if the experimental study agent, baminercept, is effective in treating patients with Sjögren's syndrome. The study will also determine if the study agent can be safely given to patients with Sjögren's syndrome; examine how it affects symptoms of the disease; and attempt to understand how baminercept affects the underlying mechanisms of Sjögren's syndrome and the immune system.

I'm not eligible because of one of my scripts

The Supreme Court, the Voting Rights Act and unintended cosequences:

It seems to be human nature that when someone tells us we can't have something or there might not be enough for everyone, we make sure we get ours. I saw this play out a while back - more people got the flu vaccine the year everyone was talking about a shortage than the next year, when there was plenty for everyone.

So - if people think someone is working to keep them from voting (which is the actual case!), wil more people make the effort to go out and vote? Will more attention be paid to ensure that people are allowed to vote?

Another newbie crochet/knitting question:

How safe is it to mix yarns - as in I have two skeins of 100% acrylic worsted , both machine wash and dry, from two different companies?

I'm trying to figure how to use left over yarn.

Anybody here with fibromylagia?

Is there a reason my daughter's rheumatologist hasn't suggested an SNRI such as Cymbalta?

Zimmerman carried a gun to protect himself - as a result,

his life is ruined. Regardless of the outcome of the trial, his life is ruined.

George Zimmerman Trial - how the hell can anyone look at the photos

of Trayvon Martin's body, face down on the ground surrounded by grass and believe Zimmerman's claim that Martin was straddling him and beating his head on concrete?
