Their are three ways to oust a president. We need a fourth.

1. Vote him/her out of office.

2. Impeachment in the house and conviction in the senate.

3. The 25th Amendment to the Constitution.

We've found that options 2 and 3 are virtually useless in today's circumstance. Will option 1 succeed given that we have a beast in office who will do anything and everything possible to steal the election? We'll see.

But even assuming that we succeed in voting this creature out of office, we have seen that even elections offer us no certainty in ridding ourselves of a monster.

"In order to form a more perfect union," we need a fourth alternative.

What should it be? I don't know. Perhaps a panel of a dozen American Nobel Prize recipients who, by some predetermined means, can step in, debate the issues and reach a decision on whether or not a president is fit to retain office. But something even remotely like that would probably require a constitutional amendment which would have little chance of passing.

In the meantime, were this president to steal another term, or a future president like him to come along, we'd be so, so fucked. And that's why I state that we need a fourth option to rid ourselves of such a possibility.

Suggestions?

(On edit: I see a few posts that have hinted at the obvious. "Hinted," because they don't want a visit from the Secret Service. So let me say this. This is NOT a fourth option. This is DU. We are Democrats. That's not who we are. That's not what we are. Please, don't even joke about it. And if that sounds a bit too pious, let me quote Obama. -- When they go low, we go high.)

Trump can't possibly win. But he will do everything to steal it.

Those who actually believe that Trump can win this November are deluding themselves. There aren't enough ignorant, brain dead, or insane voters in America to put him over the top, even with the help of the electoral college. (Disagree? Fine. Let's hear your argument.)

But he, along with the criminals who call themselves the Republican Party, can steal it.

Fucking up the USPS is happening right out in the open. Think this isn't a major criminal act to make sure our votes aren't counted, but don't even arrive? Wake the fuck up. This is fascism at work.

At the state level, a few Republican senators are in deep shit. And they too will do anything and everything to hold onto power. And they'll do it legally or illegally. This is who they are. This is what they are. The only difference between them and Trump is that they are more adept at disguising their corruption.

Here's my personal feelings about all of this. At one point in life, I really believed in truth, honor, justice and "The American Way." I played by the rules, I'm a veteran, and it took me a very long time to understand that 99% of it was pure bullshit.

Understand and recognize what we are up against. Understand that they represent pure evil. Fight them every inch of the way. And vote, even if you have to crawl to a polling place. If they steal it, America is over. We must, MUST win.

So we have an insane president who says "Fuck the constitution."

Those who wrote the constitution didn't anticipate this. None of us did.

Yet, we Democrats are still proceeding as though the constitution still has meaning. We're "playing by the rules."

Meanwhile, Trump is doing anything and everything he wants to do, regardless of any "rules." And the entire Republican Party is remaining silent while their propaganda machine is trying to make dear leader "president for life."

Regardless of polls and the fact that most Americans know that the monster is doing everything possible to steal this election, we are still sticking to the rules. We're still obeying the constitution. We are still living in some fantasy land in which, we believe that goodness and righteousness and voting will win out in the end.

Trump's destruction of the Postal Service means that we must show up and vote in person to help ensure our votes are counted. But in some key states, showing up in person may mean traveling a hundred miles or more for many minorities, and even when they get there, they can't be sure that their names haven't been scrubbed from the voting lists, or that their IDs may not be sufficient.

What we are doing is hoping that the Democratic vote will be so vast that the orange beast, and the entire Republican Party will be crushed. I know I'm hoping for that. And I also know that life has taught me, "Pee in one hand, hope in the other, and see which one fills up first."

America has fallen off a cliff and we're counting on there being a safety net to catch us before we're destroyed on the rocks. So let me get to the bottom line here. What if Trump and the criminal Republican Party succeed in stealing this election? What are we prepared to do? We know that if they hold onto power, America, democracy, and our freedoms are over. So if Trump and the Republican thugs steal this election, we all know that our individual liberties will be gone for good. I, for one, can't live with this outcome. So, again I ask, what are we prepared to do?

One more thought. Some days, I am truly anticipating the destruction of Trump and the entire Republican Party this November. And on other days, like today, I fall into a dark place where the horror I've described above can happen.

Republicans, how much did you sell your soul for?

Unless Trump has blackmail pictures of a Republican politician screwing a goat, it seems that the price of a Republican soul is this: Any threat to reelection.

Ask yourself this: If you were a Republican holding a seat in the senate, the house, a governorship, or any other position of power, would you sell your soul to hold onto it?

It seems that for the vast majority of Republicans, the answer is "YES."

And it also seems to me that the answer of the vast majority of us here on DU would be "NO FUCKING WAY."

Do we belong to the same species as Republicans? Do they have a missing gene, or a missing conscience, or a missing part of their brain that holds empathy? I really don't know. But I do know that there is something different about them. There is an emptiness, a hollowness that prevents them from relating to basic decency and humanity. And I know that if/when we defeat them, they can never again be allowed to rule anything. Anything at all. Ever.

They have spent decades screwing the middle class, the poor, and the "THEMS." Their time is over. Their greed and hatreds need to be buried. The nightmare of their rule needs to be held up as a warning that they don't care who lives or who dies. Anyone who needs further proof of this, look at their inaction during this pandemic. We have over 150,000 human beings dead due to their indifference. These are not people you want having power over you, your loved ones, your cat, dog, or even your hamster. The entire Republican Party is a diseased enterprise that needs to be ousted, and then held responsible for their criminal rule.
