The two biggest problems are (1) the billionaire Catholic radtrad funders...

...like Tom Monaghan and (2) the numerous retrograde bishops and other Church officials who were installed during the long reign of John Paul II. A third problem which flows from the first two is the rise of the broadcasting and publishing empires made possible by this. The billionaires fund the radtrad causes, especially broadcasters like EWTN and (Ir)-Relevant Radio, and then reactionary priests and bishops go on the air and become big "stars". This amplifies their power, so it continues even though it repeatedly leads to scandals (especially at EWTN).

Another problem is the rise of various institutions of "higher education" expressly created by radtrads to silo off their kids from the modern world. This is a lesser problem right now than the radtrad mass media, but these institutions are growing in number.

Yep. They WERE "on the inside", to quote Hegseth, just not the way he says.

Umbrella Man was almost certainly a professional provocateur. The early actions by provocateurs, particularly Umbrella Man, helped the protests to spiral out of control in Minneapolis.

Hegseth and the others (especially Campos-Duffy) on the Sunday Fox and Friends are too dumb to understand that they're just benchwarmers. They might as well be robots, and at some point in the near future, they probably will be.

Yeah, she was one of the original "right-wing Fembots", as Randi Rhodes called them...

...they were always showing up on Bill Maher's show (this was back when it was on Comedy Central or whatever): Crowley, Barbara Olson, the numerous Fembots from the Koch-funded Independent Womens Forum, etc.

I always thought that the "think" tanks hired them because they looked a whole lot better than old out-of-shape stuffed shirts (e.g. the actual people who run the "think" tanks). It was pretty obvious what was going on with the Fembots.

Serial plagiarist Monica Crowley last night on Fox: "Biden is a KGB dupe!"

A DUer posted this last night and then for some reason pulled the post. It deserves to be seen by more people, I think. I was wondering where Crowley had gone, but like a bad penny, she's bound to turn up at some point (to quote the "Saul Goodman" character), and she did--on a Sunday night Fox show that sure looks like a placeholder (The Next Revolution with Steve Hilton).

Guest on Fox claims the President is intentionally destroying the US and says it began as a KGB operation in the 1930ís

This was my response from last night:

Crowley knows better...she's a Cold War GenXer, and yet she tweeted "walls work" in front of the remains of the Berlin Wall in order to suck up to Drumpf and his moronic border wall idea. (This was shortly after the 2016 election). She apparently thought she might get another do-nothing sinecure job, and it almost worked except for her well-documented serial plagiarism. Now she's doing the same thing again. The irony is that if anyone or anything is a Russian op, it sure as shit is Drumpf and his entire regime.

The subject of this is Matt Forney? On the "Return of Kings" site?

Forney as best I can tell is for real. He appears to the uninitiated to be doing "a bit", as the kids say, and that might be theoretically plausible, but this asshole puts so much effort into it, and for so long now, that it's pretty certain he's serious about his MRA/PUA lifestyle. Of course, one look at the guy is all one needs to see the pathetic self-parody.

By the way, Return of Kings was shuttered in 2018. RooshV "hit the wall" and found that he couldn't pick up desperate Eastern European women anymore. Roosh returned to the US after an extended adolescence in Europe that continued well into his 40s. Matt Forney is just plagiarizing the Roosh strategy, which in itself is a lame simulacrum of a million other MRA/PUAs. They have been at this since the days of Adobe PageMill and shitty GeoCities blogs.

Roosh more recently has descended into religious psychosis, joining ROCOR (Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia), otherwise known as "Radtrad Orthodoxy". He now devotes his various sites to attacking Da Jooz and "degeneracy" (a redundant term for Da Jooz).

How many times do we as a country have to debunk a lie?

Five seconds on Google is all it takes. This is the first hit using a search engine, and it's a reputable source, not "Joe Blow's Blog".

This shows the depth of their contempt for their own followers.

By the way, what's with the weird big hair on this Fiore woman?! The '80s called and they want their crispy mall hair back! (Sorry, it's a cheap shot, but it was wide open).

A lot of the states in that list have fairly general "social studies" requirements...

...that are not particularly specific about what actual civics education actually is--or the requirements are optional, or it's "a little Column A, a little Column B", etc. Actual "civics" classes have declined to a large degree. Classes in US History, World History, etc. are great, but "civics" used to be a separate and unique subject. When I was in high school, it even included a section on the labor movement. I think something like that would be hard to find in any high school today.

That's not to say that civics is gone--it's not--but we could really use the older approach that doesn't just shoehorn it into the general ed requirements.

Another good book from the same era, more or less, is...

...The True Believer by Eric Hoffer. It was a favorite of President Eisenhower's. The book covers a lot of the same themes as The Radical Right, but from perhaps a more universal perspective (not as focused on American society).

Escape From Freedom by Erich Fromm is often considered a companion book to Hoffer's as well.

Well, to make the point with a bit of humor, Ford did employ Earl Butz...

...(as Sec of Ag) who could be called a mini-Trump inasmuch as he was known to shoot off his mouth all the time. Butz was basically the Republican id with no brakes going off the side of a cliff. You can read at the link about some of his spectacular gaffes.

Butz was also known for some really bad ag policies that led pretty directly to the disastrous farm economy of the '80s (collective-farm-sized company farms) and a lot of America's health problems as well (over-reliance on corn products, especially corn sweeteners).
