Sincere question for the women of DU

Do you feel women's lives are valued in this country? I am feeling like not so much. Sexism is alive and well. The most recent example for me is the reaction to Nancy Pelosi and the attack on her husband, along with the most recent video that came out. It was barely mentioned on my local media which is in Pelosi's district. If any male in government had this happen to them, I feel that it would be nonstop coverage and something would be done.

Also today, a man who tortures his female victims has been running loose in Oregon after being convicted of assaults against two other female victims in Nevada. Served a couple of years in jail and was released to do it again. Now he's on the run and recruiting females from dating aps. Not to mention the almost constant stream of females being murdered by their SO's. We have become immune, it seems.

I have to say, the latest shooting in Half Moon Bay

is hitting me hard. Not only because it's in my backyard (California's Central Coast, or God's Country as Steinbeck called it) but because of the victims. They were migrant farm workers. This is a group of people constantly taken for granted and taken advantage of. They live in the shadows, and yet without them we would literally starve.

Their lives are incredibly hard. Here in California, we just came out of a period of torrential rains and flooding. These farmworkers and their families bore the brunt of it because they often live in substandard housing.

We in California have strict gun laws and we try to protect each other. But until we have uniform gun laws in this country, we will never prevent these tragedies.

Trashed

When or why would you ever consider replying this way to a post? I can't imagine doing so under any circumstances. I've read many things I disagree with on DU and I have stated why or ignored the post. Most often, I don't click on threads that seem uninteresting or repetitive.

Never really had an impulse to be rude or tell someone they are "trashed." Maybe I assume they wouldn't care if I trashed their thread. It just seems childish.

Are you as smart as a beltway DC reporter?

Let's see. If Kevin McCarthy says he won't discipline Santos because the voters voted for him, what should your response be? I know what my response would be. I would say, "but the voters were LIED to. That's the POINT."

No one said that. They just let it go, with all of them asking repetitive questions over and over again about what Kevin was going to do.

I wonder if they really think it's funny

Happened to flip by a couple of minutes of Tapper's show on CNN to get the vibe. It was very fake, with everyone yucking it up at how "wild" the repug house is. Can you believe this? Can you believe that? And of course, it all means nothing because, according to them no one will be held accountable. Hysterical.

Tapper's eyes were sparkling and I haven't seen him this excited since Biden withdrew from Afghanistan and he sensed blood.

Can't these hyperventilating journalists give us the facts

before they start screaming "bothsides" and say that magats will have a field day? Do they have to give the cretins permission to run with this within the first 30 seconds of their coverage? The media is complicit and learned nothing from covering tfg.

Giddy Goofus

That's what Kevin looked like with his insane grin as he accepted his new role as "speaker." Too stupid to know how humiliated he was. Too ambitious to care about anything but himself and his ridiculous ambition. Does anyone think he had even an inkling of how crazy he looked to most people?
