I'll keep it very simple

All throughout the dump administration we heard nonstop that his base would never leave him. Scandal after scandal we heard that. Bad news (anyone remember Covid)? after bad news, we heard that. His whole administration was framed that way. Sure, he was bad. Sure, he was inept.
Sure, he lied. Sure, people were dying because of his policies. But was it a problem for him or his followeres? Nope.

Now all it takes is one stupid RW meme and the world is falling apart for Biden and the Dems. They COME OUT AND SAY IT IN THOSE WORDS. Step one: Play, discuss the stupid meme. Step two: Look very concerned. Step three: Run a headline saying it's trouble for Biden. Rinse, repeat.

Even when they have to admit that there's not much to the story or the good outweighs the bad, IT IS STILL BAD NEWS FOR BIDEN.

So, basically, calamity after real calamity in the cheato administration was framed as showing how loyal his base was. RW manufactured B.S. in the Biden administration is always framed as BIG TROUBLE for the him and Dems.

Isn't this just the most "CNN" headline ever?

$16 dollar McDonalds Meal goes Viral and That's a Problem for....
guess who? On their homepage right now.

Emily is alive!

Some of you may be familiar with the 8 yr old girl whose father has the touching Irish accent. She is being released according to CNN! I am so happy for her and her father!

Like many, I am concentrating on the good news to get through the daily tragedies. I hope she recovers well.

I know it's hard to keep track of all the republican dysfunction

and drama, but what happened with the much bally-hooed Newsom/DeSantis "debate"? Did RD chicken out?
And if he did, why is he getting a pass after all his bluster?

I'm near where APEC summit is happening and the local coverage is

very interesting and different than cable news. Basically, it's much better and really goes into detail, showing the visit from many different locations and viewpoints.

It covered all the protests in San Francisco (and SF knows how to protest) and the Chinese students bussed in to cheer their leader. It covers how the location of the meeting, which was not in SF, was only revealed at the last minute, even to the WH press corps.

Anyone local knows the location of the meeting, Woodside, is extremely upscale, even by Bay Area standards. The only time I ever set foot there was to attend a fundraiser for John Kerry years ago. Let's just say exclusive is an understatement.

Apparently, the Xi demanded this location as part of his careful staging. I think it's because the mansion looks vaguely like the White House, especially in a tight shot.

If you're in the Bay Area, try to catch the local news on TV tonight. They're doing a great job!

Chris Hayes has a theory that all this R violence

is a reaction to the House passing the funding to avert a shutdown WITH DEMOCRATIC HELP. Maybe they're angry (poor things!), embarrassed (na, probably not), or trying to deflect attention from their failure.

Does seem weird that it all came to a head today.

And now for something completely different

How do we feel about doorless showers? I know they're common in Europe and more and more common in hotels here, but recently they've become a 'thing' in my neighborhood, with many neighbors upgrading (depending on your point of view I guess) to this feature. A few days ago my neighbor was runing down the street and I asked him where he was going. He's a realtor and he was heading to a house a few doors down to look at the bathroom. The house is for sale and its doorless shower was featured prominently in the online listing. He seemed really interested and excited.

I don't know, maybe they're good for elderly people because they're curbless but I can see a lot of drawbacks too.

Why I support media criticism on DU

There are many threads today on DU about the rightwing coverage of the corporate media, both print and television. Most of us notice it even if we are not glued to it 24/7. It is becoming too difficult to ignore, and seems to get worse daily. Many examples of the bias against President Biden have been given, and I have seen no real contradiction of what we are all seeing before our eyes.

Many say we are complaining, but what is the recourse? We must call them out the best we can. DU is one place for us to do that, social media such as twitter or other sites may reach bigger audiences, and we can always contact the media directly.

The alternative is silence, and I suppose that is good for ones' mental health. But I am not in the mood for that anymore, and neither are many of us.

So all we ask is that we are not nagged and criticized for calling attention to the media's attempt to give the election to cheato. You're not interested in discussing it? Fine. Don't click on the threads. I've never had any trouble avoiding threads I find irritating on DU.

In closing, I will paraphrase a Frederick Douglass quote I heard from Fran Drescher this morning about the SAG union victory: Power never concedes unless demands are made.

Let's make some demands for fair coverage of Joe Biden and his accomplishments!

Anyone actually watching the "debate"?

I'm not, but if you're interested Aaron Ruper is live tweeting it. Comments are pretty amusing.

Apparently, Vivek went after Kristin Welker for some unknown reason as he refuses to criticize cheato. Sounds like the usual #$$%% show.

Political sage Chris Sanunu

predicted on CNN that Joe Biden will not be the candidate in 2023. He said the Dems will be much smarter than that and will replace him. I don't know how to convey in writing how confidently he said it, as if it were a done deal.

Of course Wolf just blew past it. I know it's B.S., but really is this going to be their new tactic? Just keep repeating it until it's "accepted"?

Then again, if they really saw Biden as weak, they wouldn't want him to withdraw would they?
