I miss Nance Greggs

Anyone else feel like we need her voice right now?

Feeling overwhelmed?

I assume you do considering the absolutely horrible and sometimes downright frightening news we've been on the receiving end of for the past few days. Or years, depending on how you look at it.

I was feeling so overwhelmed a couple of days ago that I considered not even following the news anymore. I did that in 2016 when cheato first came on the scene, and in some ways that served me well.

During my "break", I tried to think of positive things, either current or from the past. And this is the one that did it for me:

I taught mostly elementary school for decades and about ten years ago I was notified that I would receive a new student who was being transferred from another class because of behavior problems and personal conflicts between his parents and the teacher. Naturally, I was a little apprehensive. However, I did what I always did in that situation and approached him with a positive attitude, giving him praise for whatever efforts I could see that he was making. Everything went pretty well until I was passing out the homework. The child seemed a little confused, so I asked him how homework was handled in his previous classroom. He said, "My teacher didn't
let us have homework."

Now I was an experienced teacher by this point and knew better than to laugh. Without missing a beat, I said, "Well, today is your lucky day. I let you have homework everyday except Friday."

I can still see his big smile. He was actually happy. I smiled back, and said, "And I know you'll do a great job." And he did. He did his homework every day that year. Not perfectly, but his best.

We all want to achieve something and feel positive. I hope I was able to provide that for him . And I hope all of you can find that in your lives too.

The Jordan vote should not be covered as an exciting horserace

As I've been saying for the past few days, don't count on the "moderates" repugs to save us. He'll probably win.

But the horserace is not the issue. His views are. He's an insurrectionist who doesn't believe Biden won and defied a lawful summons from a congressional committee. He has info about the coup attempt that he refuses to share. And he is cheato's handmaiden.

If he wins he'll be in a position of enormous power. That's what the media should be concentrating on. But he is being normalized before our eyes.

So what if he's running for President?

Never mind that he's only running to protect himself from his 91 charges. Running for President is not a legal excuse for intimidating witnesses, judges, juries, or inciting violence.

Why is the media acting like it has some legal significance? What has legal significance is that he is OUT ON BAIL AND SUBJECT TO THE COURT'S ORDERS.

Yes it really is that simple, and we are being gaslit.

First rule of Republican House: The "moderates" will not save us!

Common wisdom is that the "moderate" republicans will not vote for Jim Jordan. And I agree that he is off the charts, unacceptably radical and would be a disaster. Anyone with half a brain can see this. It's not a controversial statement.

But if people are expecting the "moderates" in the GOP to stop him, I have a bridge to sell you. They're already breaking away from their previous vows to never support him. One GOP congresswoman who previously said "Hell no" when asked if she would support him is now fully on board.

There's a very good chance he will be the next speaker and may be more secure than Kevin because he may even be able to get rid of the one person challenge that KM had to agree to.

CNN has done a poll on the Israel situation

And it seems that most of the questions have to do with how people think Biden is handling it. Apparently, the public is split. And younger voters don't trust him. And so it begins. They will shape the narrative as they did in the Afghanistan withdrawal
The dreaded CNN "panel" rears its ugly head after a few days of decent coverage.

If you're thinking this should be above politics, I agree. Tell it to CNN. Not a word that I heard about the widespread praise that Biden is receiving internationally and domestically for his team's handling of this strategy.

I think I'm going to switch to listening mode

One thing the past few days has taught me is that there is so much I don't know. Especially about Israel and the horrible situation they are in. I am one hundred percent behind Israel and of course they have the right to defend themselves as they deem appropriate. I have faith in Biden and Israel to do what needs to be done.

I have learned so much from posters on this board about the situation. Not proud to admit that previous to this I rarely thought about Israel. That's why I'm switching to listening mode. On this subject, I am not particularly qualified to opine, and I want to hear what others think. It doesn't mean I don't care. Quite the opposite.

Let's hope for peace, everyone. I do know enough to know that we all want that.

Guess what Nancy Mace did just now?

She showed up in congress wearing a white t-shirt sporting a big red letter A. She told the reporter it was the scarlet letter.

Get it, everybody? Mace is the real victim here. She is being pilloried and shamed.

So just leave her alone! But wait, why call attention to herself with something so out there? Hmmm..... That's a mystery.

Tim Scott just said Biden was complicit in the attack on Israel on CNN

Wolf Blitzer is trying to fact check him or slow him down, but not very effectively in my opinion. This guy is off the rails.

Does he know what complicit means? I had no idea he was that far gone.

It's Indigenous Peoples' Day!

It seems like a good time to recognize these extremely oppressed people. I am proud that my school district where I taught for decades never recognized the traditional name of this holiday. Not even in the 70's. And it shouldn't be recognized by anyone now unless it is renamed and honors the correct people.
