This BS with Gaetz not watching the SB because of "black" national anthem

is pathetic and unhinged. It's also a lie. No one tried to replace the national anthem since the regular national anthem was performed by Reba.

It would be unworthy of comment except for the fact that almost all modern music, if not all, is influenced, if not a rip off, of black music. Anyone who consumes a modern form of music such as jazz, blues, rock, country, or of course, hip hop, should realize that it wouldn't exist with black people. And don't give me any guff about rock. The Beatles and the Stones, especially in their early days, paid homage to the blues and r and b artists that influenced them and were very out-front about how much they owed them. They practically worshipped Chuck Berry.

So what's the point? If there is a black national anthem, I'll bet it's pretty friggin good. And if there isn't, there should be.

Stuff it Gaetz.

The press, not just the rightwing press, is lionizing trump

That's not my opinion. It's the opinion of Ruth Ben-Ghiat, historian, who was Velshi's show this morning. In fact, she specifically said the press (not the corporate media),"and not just Fox News" is lionizing him. And that is extremely dangerous for our democracy.

They lionize him by over publicizing anything that helps him (Biden's relatively minor gaffes, poll numbers (when they're good for Cheato), certain economic statistics such as inflation, and his very expected wins in the republican primary).

They lionize him by downplaying anything that is bad for him, such as almost every economic statistic, job numbers, legislation passed, and reform of the Justice Dept. under Biden. Then they whitewash the truly frightening threats coming out this freak's mouth daily, the worst of which is his vow to let Russia run rampant. His court cases are also presented as a postive for him.

We need to open our eyes even though it is not pleasant and solutions are difficult to devise. The fact that this is a very serious, hard to solve problem is not a reason to ignore it.

I am genuinely curious about why some DUers find it necessary to

scold others for what they post about. They don't find errors or disagree, just say basically that such posts are a waste of time in their opinion. So why are they "wasting" time replying? They are so much more productively employed than the rest of us, apparently, so shouldn't they be posting about all their productive ideas?

Seriously, I see many threads on DU that don't interest me at all. I even roll my eyes at some of them.

You know what I do? I scroll right by. It's really not difficult. And I don't have anyone on ignore. If I need to reply to express disagreement I try to be at least
minimally respectful.

These are stressful times . Posters have different perspective and ideas about
how to spur change or convince others. Everyone should be able to have their say without being scolded.

If you are unhappy with the media's treatment of President Biden

at the press conference I recommend e-mailing the outlets directly. I just e-mailed CNN at [email protected]. I complained about their correspondent M.J. Lee who really hostile and over the top in her questioning. None of CNN's correspondents ever treated Cheato like that, even when HE attacked them.

I noticed that M.J. Lee's twitter feed is justifiably getting hit with complaints, although her tone on there seems to be completely different than her demeanor last night.

Peter Baker of the NYT was very angry on Stephanie Ruhle's show last night

I have never seen him visibly angry when talking about Cheato. What seemed to set him off was Stephanie's (to me) mild criticism of the press during the press conference last night. She tried to do it with humor, but it was too much for Peter. He said something about Biden being sheltered from the press and I believe he accused him of being wrapped in bubble wrap or something like that. But the thing that really seemed to fry him was that Joe Biden has not granted one interview to a major newspaper. So basically, the NYT. He hasn't gotten an interview. That's the crux of it.

Stephanie did point out that many journalists on MSNBC and elsewhere, including her have interviewed Biden.

I know I'm singling out Baker here, but has reported some really horrendous things about Cheato and he never showed anger. I think many in the corporate media are concerned primarily about themselves, their careers and access.

As many of you have pointed out the "press" would never treat Cheato like that

I am so sick of the double standard. And one thing that really pisses me off is that the talking heads, even on the "liberal" networks will not criticize their collegues for their behavior towards President Biden tonight. Did the questioners even address him as President as they ALWAYS did with cheato? I am sick and disgusted.

Cable news will be unwatchable tonight

in my opinion. I just heard Paula Reid say that today was a great day for Cheato. So that's how they'll play it. No surprise there. There will be more of the same I'm sure.

Many of you had no intention of watching, but if you would like to learn more about today's activities, I think Laurence O'Donnell would be your best bet. He never follows the rest of the corporate media off the cliff and has a way of seeing the big picture.

So it seems like the universal rule that all special counsels must be Rs

again pays dividends. Quote from Josh Marshall TPM.

I am so sick of our side always playing by the rules and beyond, and GETTING NO CREDIT FOR IT!!!!! That's almost the worst part.

February 8, 2024

Oh boy, this Special Counsel report is very political

Apparently, it refers several times to Biden being elderly and having a poor memory.
