that the Greens show up at the end of a Democratic Presidency, seemingly to help ensure that the vote gets split enough for the Republican to win the EC- or at least create enough uncertainty about the vote to enable them to steal the election. I also have little doubt that Jill Stein was part of a larger Russian effort to help throw the election to Donald Trump. It has happened exactly twice in our recent history. Coincidence? I think not.
I have my doubts about impeaching him again
unless he does something really massively egregious, although I'm very concerned about the Barr/DOJ/Guiliani revelation that came out over the weekend. I just doubt that the House, unless they feel strongly about something, are going have the political will to try again, especially with a Republican-controlled Senate that will- in all likelihood- vote down another round of AOIs. While I think that we should have been filing AOIs against him from day 1 for a multitude of things, most impeachment efforts seem to be a one-shot deal and, with an upcoming election in a matter of months- it seems rather unlikely that the House will advance something unless Trump does something so awful that even the Republicans can't ignore/dismiss/vote it down, at which point they'd likely just tell Trump to leave on his own accord, something that he didn't have the decency to afford Vindman. But I can't even imagine how bad it would have to be for the Republicans to do that.

while Republicans are literally threatening a sitting US Senator with harm all over a vote they didn't like but Democrats are the ones with problems?
How anybody thinks this is supposed to be "normal"
is beyond me. If rank-and-file party members are getting to the point where they might physically harm another person, let alone a sitting US Senator over a vote they didn't like, I'd say that it's time to re-evaluate what exactly your party stands for and/or who's running it.
The system basically worked the way it was supposed to work as far as I can tell
It's the people in the system that need to be fixed/eliminated/etc. The rules and some of their vagueness and lack of precision, as written in the Constitution do, however, allow bad actors like Trump and McConnell to defeat and subvert them to their will. The Constitution did not anticipate the formation of political parties and "tribes" that would seek to protect their own over the interests of the country and the Constitution and they did not seem to anticipate people of such malignant ill will such as McConnell and Trump. Following this national nightmare with Trump, it is clear that some reforms need to be made.
You get out of social media
pretty much what you put in. There is a lot of garbage on there to be sure, but it's not entirely like it just comes to you (some ads do but you can block/hide them). You can follow/friend whomever and whatever you want to and you can stay safe(r) from disinformation if you are using your critical thinking skills at all times. Yes, there is abuse and harassment on social media and some of the platforms don't do as good of a job as they should in some cases, but, still, there are lots of ways to ways you can fend off unwanted interactions that don't require moderators. I'm not advocating for you to get back on there if you don't want to be there, but for those of us whom enjoy it, it's not impossible to have a safe and satisfying experience on social media.

And I'm realistic enough to understand what we're up against. I guess that I just can't let myself focus too much on all the bad stuff. As far as what I said about Trump's popularity, I live in a red state (Indiana) that I know will easily go for Trump in November but I also know a lot of Republicans like my Mom whom loathe Trump and there are a growing number of NeverTrumpers looking to ally themselves with us to get rid of Trump, so not all Republicans are willing participants in the Trump Republicans efforts to install him as Dictator-for-Life. Plus, a lot of conditions that negatively affected us in 2016 are not going to be in play this year, especially the lack of Third or Fourth Party candidacies to help split the vote and Trump has an underbelly of soft support that are wiser to him now than they were in 2016 that we can pick off. The Democratic Primary is messy, of course, but the primary will eventually be over and we will hopefully all rally around him/her to fight Trump. I don't see us not being energized in November. We just have to be smarter electorally and not focus so much on the national polls and more targeted towards the EC. I don't want to make it sound easy but I'm trying to hold on to what positive thinking I can.
I hear what you're saying and I'm not going to accuse you of trolling or anything malevolent
but *this* is exactly how Trump, Bannon, et. al WANT us to feel- so demoralized that it's not even so much that we *can't* fight back, it's that we will surrender without firing a shot (metaphorically speaking). Take some time to rest and recover after the s**tshow of last week and get ready to fight hard for getting rid of the Con and all of his enablers in November. Trump doesn't command any kind of major public support (despite what an occasional Gallup poll or Rasmussen poll says) and if we beat him and his enablers electorally, he won't have any choice but to yield. What happened last week shouldn't have happened but that just means we need to redouble our efforts and fight onward. It's not over until WE say it's over!
And no Dems strayed either, in the end
I think that we were somewhat worried about Collins (Doug), Sinema, and Manchin, but, in the end, they all did the right thing, possibly, or maybe largely because Mitch's sham yam of a trial and Republican refusal to hear more witnesses.
And we got Mittens on one charge, which is just the kind of thing that will stick hard in Trump's crawl.
Meanwhile
Democrats: "Uh, hey. We impeached him and voted unanimously to convict."
But I get it, Mitch was a Republican "Unicorn" on one of the charges, so, of course, the media is going to pay more attention to him.
