Should Playboy Playmate have received 'genius' visa?
US requires proof that O-1 applicants have 'risen to the very top of the field of endeavor'

Shera Bechard, the Canadian-born former girlfriend of Playboy Enterprises founder Hugh Hefner.By Sarah McBride
Shera Bechard, the Canadian-born former girlfriend of Playboy Enterprises founder Hugh Hefner, would not be an obvious candidate for the special visas that the U.S. government reserves for "individuals with extraordinary ability."

Playboy magazine named Bechard Miss November in 2010, and she also started an online photo-sharing craze called "Frisky Friday." Neither seems quite on the level of an "internationally recognized award, such as a Nobel Prize," which the government cites as a possible qualification.

But Los Angeles immigration lawyer Chris Wright argued that Bechard's accomplishments earned her a slot. The government ultimately agreed.

That kind of success has put Wright on the map as the go-to visa fixer for both Hollywood and Silicon Valley. It also highlights the use of so-called genius visas known as O-1s and EB-1s, which have largely escaped political controversy and are now the immigration solution of choice for many entrepreneurs.

Jesus H Christ, Wolf Blitzer's cadence could drive anyone crazy.

I was listening to that 10 minutes of horror heard today on CNN and realized that it could've been only seven minutes and 25 seconds if Wolf Blitzer did not repeat clause after clause after clause in the most insipid manner imaginable. He is a disgrace to broadcasting, he is despicable as a reporter, and he is incompetent as a narrator. CNN needs to reinvent itself as a true news network and cease and desist this Fox-like broadcasting of propaganda, half truths, and outright lies.

Someone should take the entire staff of CNN into a room and show them YouTube videos of events which occurred, broadcast on national television, and reported by the likes of Walter Cronkite, Eric Sevareid, Charles Collingwood, Peter Jennings, and the like. Although each of these reporters held a personal bias towards certain entities the reportage each provided was clear, concise, and limited to the absolute truth and facts which they knew to be extant upon their statements. If, and this did not occur frequently, they speculated as to facts of which they were uncertain, which had not been verified, they would provide clear disclaimers a priori, and then, after stating the speculation, they would again state that what they had just said was pure speculation and neither verified nor confirmed.

Reporters of Wolf Blitzer's ilk are today so concerned about being the first to report and to be able to report the meme which the powers that be have proscribed that they are careless and sure their duties as professional. As a great man once said, it is a disgrace to the human race.

This SCOTUS decision reminds me of a joke:

so the idjit takes his new girlfriend to her front door after a date and asks her, "Hey baby, how about a goodnight fuck?"

She replies, "OK...goodnight, fuck."

"Goodnight Fuck" to you RW pricks who would deny coverage to sick and dying people who could be your own families, friends, or neighbors. You narcissistic sons-of-bitches will be screaming "Get your filthy government hands off my Affordable Health Care" in about twelve years...

Ignorami...

Hypothetical situation:

Suppose Mitt Romney did not exist. Who then would have been nominated by the Rethug powers that be?

As a Pennsylvanian, I see the Sandusky case as being analogous to Watergate and here's why:

You have a series of crimes, in this more recent case a heinous, perverted, disgusting, horrifying, overwhelmingly-overarching-ly repulsive violent offender and in the previous case, you have a planned burglary of a headquarters of a political party by a combination of criminals who represented various segments of the powers that be in order to possibly achieve goals which have never been widely discussed by the MSM and probably never will be.

In both cases, very very powerful people knew of the commission of the crimes a priori and allowed them to proceed for a variety of personal, political, and professional reasons. The sacrifice at the altar of the Judiciary/Congress of the burglars, of White House personnel, and ultimately the President was made in order to keep the real status quo of the Plan. The implementation of the Plan has been very successful as we have all witnessed over the past 32 years, and its continued success is all but guaranteed in my very humble opinion. Similarly, it is evident here in Pennsylvania that the Sandusky conviction is being played as 'closure', as 'justice', and as how 'the system works'. There have even been articles which allude to the fact that poor Joe Paterno was sent to an early grave by this convicted pedophile. The fact of the matter, and I don't doubt this for an instant, is that everyone involved in athletics, in local State College politics, and Statewide politics has known about this for decades. I know they have, I can judge by how measured their responses were when the story first broke and their incredible nervousness as each horrible detail came to light in the media.

This has been quietly whispered for years in and around State College, and those of you who don't live here may not fully comprehend the incredibly complex weave of the tentacles involving the University within every aspect of the Commonwealth. My father of blessed memory held an honorary position involving one of the published products of the University and he told me three things only about Penn State: first, he told me that Joe Paterno and his brother owned enormous amounts of real estate and other holdings including a goodly portion of the broadcast of the games, AND that my father was livid when Paterno spoke at a Republican Convention because he and Paterno were both employees of the Commonwealth and that was strictly forbidden, AND that Paterno was the Emperor of the entire State and held more power than anyone, ANYONE who lived here. He only had to pick up a telephone and you were history. Every politician of every stripe curried favor and woe betide anyone who got on his nerves. I really couldn't care less that he donated to President Obama's campaign: my point is that there was nothing he didn't know, and nothing was ever going to occur which would derail his Empire, until this creep, this slimy sonofabitch did what he did and was finally revealed to the world.

Now you observe: they are going to say, "Thank God this Chapter is finally closed and we can move on." Well, they may close the book, but I'm telling you, if that happens, there are going to be a whole lot of people breathing a big sigh of relief. And a whole lot of important people are in that group. If you believe that the resignation of Nixon answered all the questions from Watergate, then you'll be satisfied here. I certainly shall not be.

Medical pornography: Ear wax removal videos on YouTube:

"I know it when I see it" as a Supreme Court Justice once said...these videos should be hidden from children and only viewed by consenting adults. They are generally short, usually seven minutes or less, and they provide release for individuals who are obsessed with orifices. They are often accompanied by interesting, provocative music or narration and generally when the latter is provided, the plot is better-conceived than the usual Cinemax After Dark episode.

Now you may be wondering:what the hell does this have to do with politics...

When I watch a guy like Issa on TeeVee, I think of him lying on the ENT table getting wax, debris, and insects pulled out of his ear. And then I just laugh and go back to scooping decay out of teeth.

PS: you can also go over to Popthatzit.com. Who said that the Internet was only for driving directions?

I'm considering moving to Mars.

I can't take the lies for another 5 months...

A little background on Wawa Stores:

Now this is from a consumer's standpoint: when I was a kid here in PA, all we had were 7/11's and Cumberland Farms stores where the prices of everything except milk (because it is price-controlled here) were through the frigging roof. for example, if the price of a conventional tray of Oreos at the supermarket were, say, 59 cents, the price at the 7/11 was $1.80; tuna instead of being say 29 cents a can was a buck...you get the point. Wawa came into town and had fresh-sliced deli counter people (yes, real live people) and the prices were competitive with the supermarkets and the rolls were delivered fresh everyday from a pretty high-quality baker like Amoroso - not as good as NYC stuff, but not bad. Point is: you could buy something for a reasonable price for lunch or breakfast, and maybe a Tastykake (also price-fixed by the company) and a soda for maybe a dime more than from a machine somewhere. They opened in areas where there were lots of commuters and near hospitals and the like. They made a fortune. What they're doing now is trying to open only large Wawa markets which sell gasoline as well as food and drink and they closed many of the city-based markets due in part to theft of food and employee theft/turnover. The coffee business was a boon to them: it is unbelievable how much coffee they sell all day...there's one 100 yards from my house on the eastern Main Line, open all the time and there's always multiple cars in the lot no matter what time of day or night. I know someone who works in their corporate department: they are brilliant and ruthless when it comes to placement of the stores in neighborhoods and zoning laws and will fight to the death to open a store even if no one else in the business community wants one at that location for whatever reason. They are like the Terminator: the WILL NOT STOP until the store is open and functioning.

It's quite an enterprise here and expanding fast. R-money's response to it was stupid as per usual, but it didn't surprise me in the least that he went there: they are right out of the Rethug playbook when it comes to business: be reasonable, do it THEIR way.

EARTH-SHATTERING NEWS: President Obama picks opponent for mock debates

Boy this is one screwed up Father's Day so far...

So I was out early, driving to get some bagels and lox for breakfast, and this state trooper pulled me over. Good looking but weird guy flashes his badge, told me that I'd been speeding, erased the hard drive on my GPS, then he held me down and cut my hair, THEN he tied me to the top of his patrol car and drove me 400 miles and dropped me off in Buffalo, New York. He told me that this is a better place to be because the trees are all the right height. Now what am I supposed to do? I had offered him a doughnut but he didn't know what I was talking about. He told me he fixed the Olympics so I should get myself out of this jam myself. WTF does all this mean?

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL!!!
