More peculiar weirdness on CNN...

Aside from the usual chaff, so earlier this morning they do a story on the continuing crisis in Israel and its surround, and then jump into a fluff piece on J-Date, the matchmaking service for Jews. Now several younguns in my family have met and married thru this service and many many of my patients' social lives revolve around it, but I thought the segue was a little peculiar given the story of the weekend. I'm not dissing anything or anyone, but geez...they might have put it off for a time ...

Then again, one could make the case that it was a perfect time to showcase this aspect of Jewish life here in the Information Age...

Either way...almost funny, as in funny-weird.

Great moments in Political Discussions in Dental Office, part 1,427:

this guy, long term patient, comes in loaded for bear this morning! He's all set for me and out of his mouth spills the question: what would Obama have to do to make you NOT support him?

My immediate answer: "Why the hell should I have to answer questions like that? My Party is not on trial. Your Party is the one that started and couldn't pay for two totally unnecessary wars with the associated nightmares visited upon our military which you claim to hold in such high esteem. Your Party is the one who oversaw the absolute running-into-the-ground of the economy including the halving in value of the stock market which you hold so dear. And your Party is the one which nominated an individual who was and is so completely out of touch with anyone's reality that he lost badly to what you have stated to me many times was an incompetent, unqualified, and failed President. So you are the one who should really be answering the questions, not asking them.

The visit went uphill from there...I told him the allusion about the undecided voters which David Sedaris had told a few weeks ago...: “On Undecided Voters: "To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?”

To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.”

Even he had to laugh.

One more reason not to be a Republican...

When one of them takes off his or her white hood and runs for office, there is no limit to the virtues which are touted by their brethren - it's like the Second Coming of Jesu. but my God, after they lose or are disgraced by scandal or just failing policies (See Bush, George W.), there is no mercy: all of a sudden they become pariahs and the vituperative and vitriolic recriminations begin.

So we see this with Rmoney...Jindal, Scarborough, Kristol and all the others are piling on. But soon, the next annointed one will arrive and we'll hear how he will take us to the stars.

On "Way Too Early" this poor guy is no Willie Geist...

It's a tough gig that a vacuous frat-boy like Willie did rather well, because he has innate talent, inherited from his gifted parents. This new guy is painful to watch, and I actually feel for him. The problem with shows like these is that good hosts make it look easy when in fact it is extremely difficult; the camera is on you solely, every nuance and inflection of your speech is observed, since there's no interaction with a guest, and any insecurity becomes immediately apparent. Perhaps with some practice he'll do better.

Consistent with my much-attacked theory, McCain and Graham are doing what they're doing because

the Rethugs have no choice but to go on one of their patented "Projection Offenses" wherein they accuse the other side of exactly what they've done. AFAIC, the Rethugs came up with this nefarious Ludlum-esque plot and it exploded in their faces. The President was aware of their miscreant behavior on the night of the first debate but was unable to strategically deal with it, so he went into stand-by mode. By the second debate, he had learned some things and was able to turn the tables on Romney and the gang, and when the election day vote-flippers realized that they were under intense scrutiny, they panicked and ran home to their glasses of milk and their toll-house cookies, leaving the hopes of the fascisti in the mud. Thus did Romney plan for the win and act and dress accordingly (his wife's demeanor and dress/hairdo, his lack of a decent suit and shirt - one can't exactly give a concession speech in a tuxedo); thus did Rove not comprehend what was occurring because it was supposed to happen just like it did in 2004 but it precipitously and inexplicably didn't, thus did all the President's Men (and women) nod knowingly after the win. the Rethugs had no idea what hit them: everything they had carefully planned had failed miserably.

After the fact, the rats are in the process of deserting the ship: undermining the government is treason and a crime which carries a stiff jail sentence. People are bailing because they've been caught in a trap of their own making. There are emails everywhere and for all the clever attempts to hide drafts, etc., everything's backed up on a server somewhere, and they all know it. This is a potentially far-reaching scandal and could destroy the Right Wing. That is exactly why the Old Guard of the Party is being called upon to save it before all Hell breaks loose.

Ya know, we had the same thing happen on the Main Line of Philadelphia...

a number of years ago, due to the influx of people of color, Jews, LGBT, and various other Progressives, the Borough of Narberth changed its leadership from Rethug, which was the ruling class for about 185 years, to Democratic. So on the day after the swearing-in of the Dems, the Rethugs showed up for work as though nothing had happened. They just didn't know what to do with themselves. They apparently stood outside of the town hall, perplexed and disoriented.

Just too fucking bad, AFAIC. Allan West can go and sit on top of a flagpole...he's toast and should clean out his desk and get the eff out of D.C. as fast as his horse can carry him.

OMFG: did anyone else just see the MJ (without J) three musketeers standing there

like contestants on Family Feud?
Eddy Rendell, SE Cup-ola, and some third guy just standing off-set rigidly waiting for their introductions, and the new guy, whatsisname wound up introducing David Gregory as the next guest.

It was the awkward staging since Sarah Palin was with McCain for his concession speech in 2008.

This is Seven Days In May, not "creative speculation"...

(Please) don't for one second tell me that all of this was a random series of events which happened to coincide with the election. The onion (and not the publication) has not begun to unpeel, and we've come across all kinds of famously unsavory characters whom we know from all the usual Obama-hating venues. I am old enough to remember that when Watergate occurred, and I was part of a real Left movement, not the faux-Left which exists today, many people pooh-poohed the idea that it was more than a burglary by a bunch of miscreants who may or may not have had ties to the White House at one time. And these were my compatriots. The Middle and Right of the country wanted to see it off the pages of the papers and Newsweek as fast as possible. And for good reason. The only thing which kept it alive was the insiders' dreams of getting rid of Nixon for their own nefarious reasons and purposes.

So it goes with this: something big was in the works, and it was thwarted. This had everything to do with the election of President Obama and nothing to do with sex or wife-swapping. This had to do with an attempted coup as executed by the conglomerate consisting of the billionaires, the Rove machine, and some treasonous "folks", as the previous president used to call them in the military.

I believe that both the President and Romney knew about this from obviously different sources, and the famous Romney press conference was staged and part of the plan. For several reasons, some of which we know, some of which we may guess, and some which will probably never be known, the coup fell apart. I understand why some will be skeptical of this hypothesis, but as far as I am concerned, one is going to have to prove ot me that this, or some version of this did not occur.
